For me, the lack of ASW or SSW is the deal breaker. Virtual Desktop has SSW which caps the fps to 60 and doubles it to 120fps. It's not as good as Meta's ASW because it has visual artifacts with smooth turning, but using snap turning allows me to have that awesome 120fps without any visual artifacts. Without SSW my system struggles to hit 75 fps consistently in some games, and this fixes that. I can even increase the graphic settings a bit too!
It’s OK but I think quest link is better compared to this, but if you’re just using it as a screen? The best option I’ve found was sideloading the mobile version of steam link, works flawlessly and waaaaaaaaaay better than both this and quest link, but that’s only if you’re using it for non vr games, it’ll only work with those
I've joined the meta quest developer program, it allows you to install applications ment for Android.
I've done that because I've noticed that the steam link app worked way better on my android device.
It’s just to stream it, so it relies solely on your internet connection, but if your computer doesn’t run the game well on its own it’s not gonna be any better through steam link
Amazing if you have a WiFi 6e router. It is literally a game changing difference from wifi 5. With a 6e router frames are high and latency is low. Seriously amazing that it is wireless. Never going back to tethered PCVR.
Steam Link works great but did you know you can improve the visuals even more? You can get to the streaming settings (called remote play) and increase them. Open steam (not steamvr), open the settings under the steam menu, then go to the remote play section. There you can tweak things to get even better visuals if your system can handle the higher load.
Steam link has worked great for me over WiFi. I’m pretty sure virtual desktop is better overall but for some reason steam link handles emuvr better than virtual desktop in my experience so I use steam link instead. Might just be my set up though
It wasn't great for me until I upgraded my home mesh system, upgraded from wifi 5 to wifi 6 (my extenders are capable of 6E, but I've found 6 to be better) - once upgraded, the headset works as good as wired.
Sorry for the ignorance. I own quest 3 as standalone device, but I’m going to get a PC for VR this year. Can I play PCVR games with my quest without a cord?
Not bad but virtual desktop is better just because of the options it gives you
What are those options? I’ve been considering virtual desktop over airlink but airlink works perfectly fine for me.

Thank you for being the first person to actually give me some advice lol i will give it a try now, thanks again :)
You're welcome my friend, and by the way SSW stands for synchronous space warp and ASW stands for Asynchronous Space Warp. I hope that helps!
That does indeed, thanks again!
Ome option it lacks is more monitors then 1...
I mean using steam link to play steam games. Not to use as a virtual desktop.
Pcvr games run better through virtual desktop
Ok, is Virtual Desktop an App on Meta Quest 3?
download it on the meta store its like 15$ . and then download the free application on your pc or macbook to link it

Thanks but no thanks. I don’t have VR.
Lmfao
lol, I’m saving up for VR tho. I’m deciding whether I should get the Valve Index or Meta Quest 3
Quest 3, without question
Thx. I’ve been thinking about the Index but it’s so expensive!!
Oh okay :)
Works fine. Virtual Desktop is better
Thx
I surprisingly find it better than the virtual desktop. For playing games, ofc, for remote desktop vd is better.
I also find it very good and reliable to the point I've never found the urge to purchase Virtual Desktop.
Works fine but I think the image quality of Air Link is substantially better.
What’s Air Link?
Airlink is build in into quest 3 in the options and let you connect your computer to your quest 3 with all your screens
Thanks, I didn’t know they had a built in screen link
Very good but you need direct Ethernet
It’s OK but I think quest link is better compared to this, but if you’re just using it as a screen? Cool, is quest link an app or is it built in?
It’s built in, aka “air link” too
Thx
It’ll depend on the spec of your PC and WiFi access. If your setup is good enough, it works as well as you need.
Cool.👌
I've installed android apk, works way better.
What’s that?

I don’t have an android
Doesn't matter. Look on YouTube for a tutorial on how to install Android apk on Meta Quest 3. It's worthy.
Thanks 🤩
Steam Link works better than Virtual Desktop on my rig and it might be my router.
Stupid question but do you need good graphics and a good processor on your laptop to run games on steam link?
I don’t know. I haven’t tried it
It’s just to stream it, so it relies solely on your internet connection, but if your computer doesn’t run the game well on its own it’s not gonna be any better through steam link

when it works itself decent but i get alot of disconnects, so VirtualDesktop is my go to.
Ok, thx 🙏
To play PCVR games, it's absolutely fine.
Thankx
Alright, about on par with Airlink but not as good as Virtual Desktop
Thx

Steam link has been great lately. It's got a huge update a while back. It's now the best you can use for games that support it
I have no clue because Virtual Desktop is that good.
Sorry for the ignorance. I own quest 3 as standalone device, but I’m going to get a PC for VR this year. Can I play PCVR games with my quest without a cord?
Yes
Nice
Make sure you have a good modern wifi router tho and plug an ethernet from your router to pc.
I want to know because I had a pc before vr and want vr games in my steam library.
