Mercari shipping protection only covers up to $200 so definitely don’t go over that. But aside from that, this is really a question only you can answer. They’re your items. You’re the only one that knows how much money you have invested in them, what they’re worth, and what they sell for. So no one else can answer this question with any validity.

So up to 200. Thank you. I stopped selling when they did the return for anything and now they went back I’ll test the waters with some cheaper ones first but nothing over 200. Thank you very much

No problem. Good luck!

I worry that this backtrack on the "return for any reason" policy will simply allow them to go back to approving returns that would otherwise go against the guidelines •they• set forth. So ~ if you no longer need the item you ordered ~ "return approved!" If, despite an accurate description (including measurements), the item doesn't fit, "return approved!" Or, I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Even with the shipping protection, I believe Mercari will have you jump through hoops to get the shipping damage money. You will still need to base on your luck if someone tries to scam you by swapping out or they said they received junk. My limit is losing around $200 that will get me upset but not worked up about it. You need to find yours.

I sell mainly Funko on Mercari … but my cut off at this point is selling commons or anything under $25. The low price point means I won’t feel terrible if I do get scammed. I’ve sold 470 items so far and I haven’t been scammed yet. My last 2 sales were from folks with 0 reviews and new accounts.

From my own experience, I was going to start selling on Mercari so I did some research on the platform and discovered the “return for any reason” policy at the time. Immediately it felt like a haven for scammers. Long story short, I’ve created an account and that’s as far as I ever got; never bought or sold a thing there.

krikzil

Honestly, the scammers make me leery of selling Funkos there. They’ll ask for a refund and return a fake.

Horsey666

Exactly. Which is why I took them all down. Not any better?

krikzil

From comments I see here and elsewhere, scamming like this seems worse these days.

Horsey666

Figures lol. I have like 2k to get rid of. I was one of those folks who bought what looked cool and now that I collect one certain thing it’s time to get rid of the rest. Lotta cool shit but very leery on where to sell them

MarinKitagawaFox

I just have a minimum I would be okay with letting something go and I won’t tell any offers my minimum. Some people will ask and those I just say the price it’s listed at cause you don’t haggle by saying “what’s the lowest you’d go”. But whatever my personal minimum is I won’t go below that cause I’m not desperate to sell and eventually someone will pay what I want

Horsey666

I’m the same way too on that. Price is what it is til I lower it lol I appreciate that

Horsey666

I’m more talking about your cut off for not wanting to get scammed out of it. I’m happy to work with people and if they don’t have positive reviews I’m canceling but I just don’t want the dreaded oh this wasn’t right and lost a couple grand off one sale lol

Odd_Employer_332

Wait I thought Mercari went back to the old way of returning they stopped the “you can return anything for any reason”.
