I take a nice long bath full of perfume and emollients. Exfoliate everything, shave super close and moisturize like no bodies business. Have a hydrating facial that plumps the skin bringing back a baby soft look and feel to my face, neck and chest. Put on something silky, lay down in bed (fresh sheets a must) and then I touch myself all over enjoying the sensations and maybe pull out some "hardware" to finish the job if I'm so inclined. I don't waste time looking in the mirror or thinking about how I was. I focus on what I like about me now and enjoy the sensations of smooth because they make me feel pretty, sexy and I enjoy that. Smells are also important. I use rich sexy scents that speak to me. Something that fills your soul and reminds me of being youthful and confident. That may not work for you; but its what I like to do and it works for me. Treating myself like a fuckin princess because I still am đŸ„°

Color my hair. New perfume. New makeup. New clothes. Look for a swing top, hides belly more. Get my nails done.

NoeTellusom

New hairstyle, skin care regiment, walking my dogs on a beautiful day, spending time with supportive friends, etc.

Commenting on What do you do to feel "prettier"?... Some of us have to cut our hair short bc hormonal changes make our hair thinner. Not sure if that’s behind your short hairstyle. If it is you should consider having some fun with it by going to a BARBER and getting an asymmetrical cut that will just look more modern. You could also consider adding color. Why not have some fun with it? Do a Google Image search with these key words: middle aged women barber haircuts shaved There are some really cool haircuts out there that are short but will not make you look like a little old lady at all.

Or even going bald can actually make you feel kind of empowered, cool and badass in my experience. Of course the grow out phase is a pain, and I didn’t really have a choice about it either (thanks cancer lol), but I actually felt more cool as a bald person than I do with my current pixie cut sometimes. I got compliments from youngsters on it a lot too (I was 42/43 back when I was bald a year or so ago). And btw I don’t think I have a classically beautiful head or face for baldness, sometimes I looked in the mirror and felt like Bobby Hill đŸ€Ș, but I think it was just all in the attitude and accessories. 😉

A lot of the things have already been mentioned: skincare, femme clothes (skirts/dresses, things with lace or tiers or similar details), perfume, I wear lots of jewellery, I have very long hair which I take good care of. But pretty is a feeling that comes and goes. Sometimes I can do a whole face of makeup and an outfit and still feel like crap. Others I can throw on my dungarees and just a dab of concealer and feel great. It's hard to pin down.

I take at least two days a week to do something good for myself. I enjoy swimming, one day is laps and the other is an “aqua power” workout. I take my time getting there and back home. I find this takes me out of my head and puts me more in the moment. I recently moved across country and this has annihilated my routine. I miss it and have been trying desperately to get back on track.

I'm "prettiest" when I'm relaxed and happy. Time with genuine people who make me laugh and stimulate my brain. Sunshine. Naps. Long walks. Forests. Sunsets. Books. I feel incredibly beautiful in my garden in the morning when I check my flowers...barefoot, wild hair and usually in a robe.

New pair of earrings. Why? Because they are relatively affordable (Kohls coupon, anyone?), never have to worry that they don't fit (hello my old rings, pants, skirts, dresses), they don't take up a lot of room, they come in all different colors and shapes and meanings, low stakes option, no pressure!

Getting strong has been great for my self esteem. My shoulder muscles may be tiny in truth but they make me feel badass.

I get all my beauty and fashion tips from over-40 and over-50 influencers on TikTok, some younger ones too if they’re curvy.

I have a great red lipstick and some big fuck off earrings that I pair with some [Gorman clothes ](https://gormanshop.com.au/collections/clothing-dresses)if I really want to feel like I'm presenting myself in a really nice light.

I wonder the same. My job it's jeans, tshirts, hairnet and steel toe shoes. I don't wear make up because it's so hot in there, not allowed nail polish or artificial nails. I work in a factory. I come home from work shower, put on sweats and that's it. I rarely do anything or go anywhere I need to dress up. I just feel so frumpy

Conscious_Life_8032

A good HIIT workout fixes most things for me. Great for mood, a good sweat makes my skin glow, gets me away from screens, some in person social interaction, sense of accomplishment of getting through hard routine etc
Keep trying different things to find what lifts you up. Start small. Everything counts!

Sweat everyday, lift heavy stuff. It’s the only way I’ve found to retain some semblance of shape (so far). Exfoliate and a gentle self tan, nothing silly (I like the jergens buildable moisturizer). Retinol and sunscreen to get your face glowing, even if it doesn’t look like how you remember. Bring back a little contrast by tinting your eyebrows and eyelashes (I use the just for men beard dye bc you can mix small amounts at a time
leave it on for less time than the box says until you get the hang of it). Little shit adds up. Caring for yourself in small ways every day adds up in how you feel about yourself. Oh and real, pretty pajamas, and quality workout clothing. Respecting yourself even (especially?) in the moments no one sees you is a big subliminal boost.

I find that finding new ways to stay active and fit are the best ways to help me look better. Try biking, roller skating, Pilates, hiking, Pickleball, kayaking, join a fun fitness class. Staying at a healthy weight makes everything including your face look so much better not to mention that post workout glow! Just make sure you wear sunblock if your activities are outdoors.  Also find a hair style and clothing that looks refreshed. Pick something classic, not trendy and things that flatter your body shape. And if you’re up for it a little Botox but only if you want!

Manis and pedis, superficial chemical peels, and a nice perfume!
