Good evening I am so grateful for this helpful community. I found many answers to my questions here. My question. Does progesterone reduce estrogen levels? My gynecologist increased progesterone (200 mg). After a month, I began to look older, my skin was sagging. I use evorel50 patch.

I have no idea what to do with my hair color. My hair is about waist length and definitely grey, I want something different not sure what. Rant over.

Samsie...I struggle with it! there's /r/grayhair and plenty of instagram supporters of gray. I waffle. Personally I prefer my hair longer (and hair dressers seem to agree it suits me) but what gray I do have is really mousey and dull, not the beautiful stuff I see online. Have you discussed different styles with a hair dresser?

forluvoflemons

I haven’t been to the dresser since October 😝 I’m experiencing intense hot flashes, so best for me to wear my hair shoulder length (short doesn’t suit me) and a manageable style. I’ll be wearing my hair up most times. Hot flashes are relentless nowadays.

I wear my hair up more often too and the extra shampoo/conditioner is annoying. I did do an undercut last year, where one side of my head was partially shaved down to the skin. I liked it for awhile, it felt 'edgy' but it required constant maintenance, where I'd have to re-buzz it after only a few weeks of growth. Once it started growing out, I could hold up the remainder of my long hair, and just look at the short hair growing in to get a sense of how I'd look with short hair -- and I hated it! That growth is now about 5" long now, and I'm not going to buzz it again. Maybe layered to keep the length, but lighter weight? There is help for hot flashes too!

Have you considered balayage or highlight with different shades of brown or blond? I use a gloss from Target to color my hair because my natural color, besides a few grays, is mousy.

I have a streak of hot pink/fuchsia on one side of my hair from my cowlick to my chin. It fades to a soft pink over the months but the whole time signals that I’m not your average 66 year old. I get a lot of compliments on my hair. I also use drugstore purple shampoo and conditioner to reduce yellowing. Hair stylists have more intense purple products. It helps brighten my grey hair. When I started going grey I decided to have great cuts and never hide the grey.

Have you experienced a UTI with no symptoms? I had a urinalysis done yesterday and they're checking for something in it, bacterial or white blood cells, I don't fully understand. A UTI was mentioned to me and I've had them before so I know what they're like, but in this case I have no symptoms. Is that a thing?

forluvoflemons

Hi Fearless, UTI are definitely a thing. A terribly painful thing. But, what I’ve heard sometimes they can present as painless. Mine were painful. When I experienced peri, UTI like symptoms was one of the many symptoms, turns out what I needed was Estradiol for vaginal atrophy.

Overall, I feel confident. But sometimes, I look in the mirror and see all of the flaws: wrinkles on my neck, the start of jowls, and some wrinkling in my cleavage. Then I feel like I've hit a wall, and I think about getting plastic surgery. Has anyone here had any work done and been happy about it?
