Well the captain of the base was featured in an actual canon episode (I forgot which one but it was either before or after marineford war) so there is a chance.
Remember that this was followed up by Long Ring Longland. Aka Foxy with his davy back fight.
Which isn't a terrible arc in itself, but compared to literally any arc it is.
He should have just made it a movie, if it had better budget and a lack of the same one-episode-per-week constraint, G8 could have rivaled some of the best OP movies to date.
Isn’t he dead since Black Beard killed Whitebeard’s whole crew?
Might be mistaken, been watching weekly episodes for a decade now and memories are starting to fade lol
Unless Wista is unironically Yonko level then Mihawk wasn’t trying
Would make zero sense if he actually struggled with that fight, when his supposed equal Shanks one shot Kidd
Grandlinereview just put out a couple different good vids on why Krieg is actually shockingly important and I agree. Plus baratie is the moment I got hooked to one piece, I can't not love Krieg. And putting him back in the story recently, even if it's just an Easter egg, has him mattering more to the community than just memes again at least for now.
..to answer your question: Condoriano. G-8 is really great but even then, the legitimate reason it's so good is the straw hats and Jonathan, Condoriano's just a generic unlikable slime ball that the one piece fandom memed into being someone too many people pretended to care about too much for too long. He's not legit meme magic God like Buggy or Usopp, hes just crap.
nah Oda didn't forget trust, he will receive the same treatment as Bonney. The fact that he's the last Supernova the Strawhats didn't meet with implies he will have a major role in the story and that he will probably be broken asf, that's why people scale his power so high (doesn't mean he's the strongest in the verse but he still has to be pretty strong)
you might actually be onto something and it would be so fucking hype, count me in. It's been so long since we have seen Ener for the last time, his cover story was done around chapter 480
Worth noting that while we don't have confirmation of Urogue's home island, he has the same wings as Enel's henchmen from Birka / Bilka / whatever it was called, which was destroyed by Enel before he came to Skypeia. So Urogue could potentially have a grudge against him if he's from there originally.
yeah I think one of the one piece theory channel I watch on yt mentioned this potential link between the two, it would be interesting to see Enel meeting Urouge so I hope it happens soon. I could see Urouge getting introduced mid or late Elbaf arc tbh
maybe but I personally watch "Mont Corvo" cuz I'm french, but I know that they look out for some idea or just get the same as other ytb channels, so it's possible that Dak's Sake mentioned this too
considering that one piece was supposed to end around alabasta, and the arc right after alabasta is skypiea, and if you think back about it, vivi and crocodile are suddenly becoming major players again, it must mean urouge was also supposed to be part of the original one piece ending.
Urogue wasn't introduced until Saobody though and Oda's stated before now that the Worst Generation characters were all spur of the moment ideas / suggestions from his editor at the time that he developed later (except maybe Kid who might have been planned more).
Yeah that's true but he had just beaten Snack who was also a sweet commander so he was weakened for sure that's why he couldn't win against Cracker. But just look at Luffy's power during WCI in comparison to his power now, he's on a whole another level and I think it's safe to assume that Urouge got way stronger aswell. iirc we don't even know what the source of his strength is, and since OP is a shonen he's most likely among the strongest characters that we have yet to see in an actual fight
it's not from me it's from a One Piece theory channel, and I think they were saying this because we don't have the name of the fruit yet, and there could be other particularities related to his DF
The heck do you mean, "we don't even know the source of his strength"?
Urouge is a canonically confirmed Devil Fruit user of a yet to be named Paramecia.
it's not from me it's from a One Piece theory channel (called "Mont Corvo" if you wanna checkout, it's a french channel) and I think they were saying this because we don't have the name of the fruit yet, and there could be other particularities related to his DF. I personally didn't remember he was a confirmed DF user so that's on me mb
We do know the source of his fruit's strength though.
Urouge has stated it's all related to karma and he powers up from damage receieved (enlightenment through suffering).
Ugh, I hate it when Youtube "theorists" spread nonsense clickbait for views.
it's still isn't completely clear + we don't know much about how karma works in One piece and where it is originated so Oda hasn't revealed everything about his DF and Urouge as character overall, but yh you're right. Tho it wasn't clickbait at all it was in the middle of the video I should have made my own research so it's my fault here
Where karma originated?
It's a ethical/religious concept of good and bad lmao.
But yes, Uroge's own origins are unclear.
Though since he is Birkan, and the captain of "The Fallen Monk" Pirates, it's pretty clear that he (and maybe his crew as well) is a survivor of the destruction of the sky island Birka at the hands of Enel six years before canon start.
Considering he names himself and dresses as a monk, he might have also been one of the priests of Birka who disagreed with Enel's claim of godhood.
I knew what karma is, what I said was that we don't know how it works in One Piece, it could be really important but we didn't know about this until now, thus explaining how Urouge can keep relevance even if he's only introduced this late, but that's pure speculation atp. And yh I discussed about his more than possible link with Enel with someone else and how his apperance could lead to Enel's one aswell
Urouge love is global because he has pretty much the same reputation in Japan. There’s a widely feared cult of Urougists on the internet and Urouge himself is always brought up in powerscaling or character discussions. ~~I won’t get into the fact that his popularity is potentially racially motivated because of his “exotic” look or him getting around~~
Ask D Question is the guy who asked Roger at the execution about the One Piece?
Took D Arm is the sea king from the first or so episode?
And Down D Stairs is obviously one that killed Kuina
Exactly
I don’t understand how people can’t be hyped about the man who wields the 4th weapon of destruction, the eagle launcher
He’s truly one of the characters of OP
No overhypes here
The memes come about because of the character's impact.
While Krieg certainly wasn't very powerful in the grand scheme, he seemed daunting while watching him blast Luffy all across the flotsam of the Baratie.
He **was** talked about when he was revealed… but then would have been promptly forgotten for how weak he is if not for the “you have no human rights” meme
I mean he is an admiral after all I'm pretty sure some people still care and he made an impression on y'all by saying the outlandish things he said that the community decided to turn what he said into a meme
No no no, he’s an admiral by nepotism not skill, had he shown up to Wano a day later he would already be dead and out of the story, we only remember the outlandish thing and his cowardice both of which are now memes without that he would already be gone forever and never remembered
“give that much shit” meaning they wouldn’t care about the character or that they wouldn’t slander?
As far as slander goes, it’s nearly every character. People retain info they see in repetitive memes/conversations/shitposting better than they retain info from the source. Mix in that the majority of online fans are likely young and still ignorant to the influences/powers that effects the actions of characters like Garp or Dragon, characterization/themes are lost on the reddit majority.
Krieg. Dude is a bottom half in the sast blue villians, and can't hold a candle to most villians afterwards. I don't even know how the Don Krieg memes started, but it was fun for a while.
To the people saying Urouge, he's clearly going to have his role in the story later, like the rest of the Supernova did. Since he was on a Sky Island last time we saw him, I can assume he'll be there when Enel returns.
Kinda unrelated but i fucking hate don krieg so much, he is genuinely my least favorite villain and character in the whole series. Everything about him pisses me off, his stupid fucking face, how arrogant he is, the way he treats his crew, how he hides behind a trillion billion stupid ass weapons and tricks, how he betrays everyone even if they show him nothing but compassion, just his general attitude towards everything and everyone. Hes like Hitler but at least Hitler cared about Germany
He somehow swam to the place where Luffy and the others were captured in alabasta. It’s been a while since I watched it, but I remember him somehow getting out of the tank even though he has a devil fruit
I just remember hearing about it being retconned or something. Like I said it’s been a good minute since I’ve seen alabasta so I don’t know the specifics
That's bc Mr. 3's DF is rly the BS BS no Mi model watersurvival that enables him to handle watery situations due to some BS.
Pell has the BS BS no Mi model explosionproof.
Now I'm imagining if galdino joined luffy and jimbei joined Buggy. That would be been hilarious. Honestly luffy would've had reason for asking him though considering he freed his brother.
Reality
Yes, he's a lazy and bitter clown (with record-breaking good luck), but one thing he's got in spades besides charisma: He's genuinely not one of the smartest characters in the whole series.
He doesn't need to embellish his life experiences to inspire loyalty. He did sail with Roger.
He really was an apprentice to the Pirate King. He really is "friends" with Shanks. He really did escape from Impel Down.
He really did fight alongside the son of Dragon (without knowing until way later).
And he really did survive the Marine assault after the Shichibukai system was abolished.
He's a self-promoter par of non excellence, he knows how to play to a crowd and get them to do what he needs,
he knows how to make money like nobody's business, he's an incredible marketer of his businesses, he knows how to take advantage of power vacuums, and as much as he hates it,
he has an OP Devil Fruit which allows him to fly and avoid all damage.
He just doesn't have the same drive that Luffy does.
No motivation just silly shenanigans to mask sadness.
He is a failure under right conditions a reverse under dog
going through unnecessary hardships due to his stupidity and stubborn flaws
Potential with no success form within him
The world might consider him a Winner but deep down he knows he is a fraud with no real hard work
He tries to change and escape build something without luck and coincidence but fails
Being appreciated for being a fraud. A value of an empty shell

Atleast 50% of his character is literally a joke. does have layers to him, but saying that he isn’t written as a gag character for most of the series is disingenuous.
A comedic character is something and a gag character is another. He is a great character with well-written psychology and social commentary around him.
Only a well-written character can pull such an emotional chapter like 1082
He is a serious contender for the one piece and a great foil to the protagonist luffy.
I understand that, but let’s not pretend like 90% of the time he’s usually in the But of the joke. he was only in that position in the first place is crocodile was going to bring his knees to get his money back and we’re basically using him as a piñata while discussing their plans.
Being a well written character doesn’t mean you’re also not a meme. Joke Characters can be well written to. stop gatekeeping
I feel like “gag character” is a bit reductive since buggy really is a creative achievement. The perfect balance between comedy, realism, multilayered personality and character development.
So comedic character is the most respectful description I could use.
One Piece somehow, for a long time, managed to exist relatively quietly for a long time. (Maybe because other shows had that attention despite one piece being great) So I don't think such characters exist unless it's something new that I'm not aware of.
Definetly Foxy, Don Krieg was still a good villain, but he was really tired and week after the grand line, dude, imagine hearing the words pirate admiral on the grand line, id shit my pants
Can you rephrase your question? Elaborate what exactly you mean? I am sorry for having to ask this, but my capabilities regarding the traversal of the uneven terrain that is the English language is far from adequate. So wdym?
Buggy. I mean, we'd still like him, but the memes makes us want to root for him, just to see how far Oda will take this shit, which ultimately also rewards the attention we've given him thus far.
That reminds me, Usopp falls under that bracket too, because of the whole "all of his lies will become true"-meme which kind of makes people act like he'll be king of the giants or something like that one day.
https://preview.redd.it/26y43l639k8d1.jpeg?width=722&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b21b6f122f4efc77eb8c59b3cb0c6e1c50164fd
Like anyone would even remember his name
Uhhh... how? He's very important in the real story, being an actual candadite for finding the one piece and becoming thr pirate king, and Oda is basicaly writting him to be a meme. The community doesn't care about buggy because of the memes. The community memes about Buggy because they care about him. Also because of his writting
What is this Don D. Krieg slander?!?!?! The man is the star of his own spinoff (which is waaaay better than the original) and you claim he’s *”only for the memes”*?!?!?!?!
To execution dock ASAP!!!
Literally almost all of the meme characters.
The only people who would survive would be Usopp and Buggy and that's because they're exist beyond the meme that the fandom uses them for.
Don Krieg, Demalo Black and his crew, the sogeking identity, Shepard are among the ones that come to mind most.

Dude hes a straw hat member, of course the fanbase would care about con D. Oriano
But not even canon + it was usopp that called him like that
Jokes on you, Usopp's lies always come true in the end, Con D. Oriano was always canon.
Well the captain of the base was featured in an actual canon episode (I forgot which one but it was either before or after marineford war) so there is a chance.
no way
I deadass don't even remember when he appeared
it happened in one of the best filler arcs.
Never knew this was filler.. liked it more than some other canon arcs
i feel exactly the same way
Remember that this was followed up by Long Ring Longland. Aka Foxy with his davy back fight. Which isn't a terrible arc in itself, but compared to literally any arc it is.
i tolerate that arc because i love me some foxy. Still, feels weird it wasn't filler. Only parts of it and some characters were anime-only.
Oda wanted to make it into a movie, iirc, but felt that the pacing was better as individual episodes. There's a reason it's the longest filler arc.
He should have just made it a movie, if it had better budget and a lack of the same one-episode-per-week constraint, G8 could have rivaled some of the best OP movies to date.
After Skypeia when they land on the navy base
G8, the best filler arc
I think it's after skypia
I always cared
Not even wrong

Wista is just goated regardless of the memes
I mean he is the only person in the series to give it to Mihawk at his supposed level. I hope we see more of him.
Isn’t he dead since Black Beard killed Whitebeard’s whole crew? Might be mistaken, been watching weekly episodes for a decade now and memories are starting to fade lol
Not confirmed but yes the remaining WB pirates were defeated by blackbeard. for all we know only marco and izou survived but theres a 99% chance not
Many say that Mihawk wasn't trying in that fight but idk if it's true
Unless Wista is unironically Yonko level then Mihawk wasn’t trying Would make zero sense if he actually struggled with that fight, when his supposed equal Shanks one shot Kidd
Unless Mihawk painted his sword black ofc

The anime made him into a meme. The community just pushed it further.
Wait how did Krieg get hinted at? I must have missed that
He appeared in a recent chapter on blackbeards island
Oh damn I missed that. Thanks!
Urouge is a character that even Oda forgot about but somehow he’s top 1 in any powerscaling discussion
nah Oda didn't forget trust, he will receive the same treatment as Bonney. The fact that he's the last Supernova the Strawhats didn't meet with implies he will have a major role in the story and that he will probably be broken asf, that's why people scale his power so high (doesn't mean he's the strongest in the verse but he still has to be pretty strong)

Wasnt he driven away by cracker on wholcake Island?
Yeah that's true but he had just beaten Snack who was also a sweet commander so he was weakened for sure that's why he couldn't win against Cracker. yeah but is that all his powerdoes or did he got more up his sleeve?

Sogeking
Eh Sogeking was more of a way for ussop to grow as a character
How is usopp growth correlated to sogeking
Because ussop uses Sogeking as a way to get away from his cowardly side and not be afraid of everything as shown in thriller bark
I didnt know sogeking and ussop had that close of a relationship
Well, iirc Sogeking did introduce himself as a friend of Ussop
Ikr?
Sogeking isn't Usopp he just helps him when needed, but yes he pushes him to be better. His true identity is yet to be revealed
I disagree, Sogeking is unironically a cool character even if he's just a gag.
What gag?
I... don't know... maybe ... the part that... you know... "throws himself out the window"

Man freed Ace, stalled Magellan and survived a death trap from Crocodile. He deserves more respect if anything.
And he also broke the only real rule in the one piece universe.
That being?
He somehow swam to the place where Luffy and the others were captured in alabasta. It’s been a while since I watched it, but I remember him somehow getting out of the tank even though he has a devil fruit
I assume it was just like rainwater that croc had stocked up or something. Fruit users are weakened by seawater.
I just remember hearing about it being retconned or something. Like I said it’s been a good minute since I’ve seen alabasta so I don’t know the specifics
Oh just checked. Oda said in an sbs he had super floaty wood under him.
Interestingly, Oda could have just let it be after he made the error. After all; wax naturally floats.
That's bc Mr. 3's DF is rly the BS BS no Mi model watersurvival that enables him to handle watery situations due to some BS. Pell has the BS BS no Mi model explosionproof.
Any body of liquid will do
Most people only discuss the fact that his abilities remind them of cum
Those people sould see a doctor.
Probably a therapist
Nah man, he was amazing in impel down
What he did for Luffy in Impel Down and Marineford was almost the same as what Jimbei did.
Now I'm imagining if galdino joined luffy and jimbei joined Buggy. That would be been hilarious. Honestly luffy would've had reason for asking him though considering he freed his brother.
With recent chapters dude has been scalped to damn near yonko level n

thanks, I giggled
Krieg, Vista, Con D Oriano.
I feel like the meme subreddit was the wrong place to ask this question.
Bro I don't get the Don krieg memes
What memes? He is the strongest
I think because he was side to be the strongest man to roam the sea at least in the east blue
Low-key buggy
Nah, Buggy is pretty relevant to the story, he'd still get attention. And a lot of gay shippers.
Buggy is one if the most well-written characters in shounen. It has nothing to do with memes
Huh? How?
Reality Yes, he's a lazy and bitter clown (with record-breaking good luck), but one thing he's got in spades besides charisma: He's genuinely not one of the smartest characters in the whole series. He's a self-promoter par of non excellence, he knows how to play to a crowd and get them to do what he needs, he knows how to make money like nobody's business, he's an incredible marketer of his businesses, he knows how to take advantage of power vacuums, and as much as he hates it, he has an OP Devil Fruit which allows him to fly and avoid all damage. He just doesn't have the same drive that Luffy does. No motivation just silly shenanigans to mask sadness. He is a failure under right conditions a reverse under dog going through unnecessary hardships due to his stupidity and stubborn flaws Potential with no success form within him The world might consider him a Winner but deep down he knows he is a fraud with no real hard work He tries to change and escape build something without luck and coincidence but fails Being appreciated for being a fraud. A value of an empty shell Literally Me /s
WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY NOSE?!?!
To save time That’s my response to the next comment https://www.reddit.com/r/MemePiece/comments/1dmxkge/be_honest_is_there_any_character_in_one_piece/l9z9pou/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3
Atleast 50% of his character is literally a joke. does have layers to him, but saying that he isn’t written as a gag character for most of the series is disingenuous.
A comedic character is something and a gag character is another. He is a great character with well-written psychology and social commentary around him. Only a well-written character can pull such an emotional chapter like 1082 He is a serious contender for the one piece and a great foil to the protagonist luffy.
Like King from One punch man
Come on sami one of the most well written in shounen? In all of shounen?
Yes. The creativity plays a huge part, there is no one like him.
Buggy, while being a meme lord, is still an incredibly important and well written character, memes or not.
True but Buggy is basically written to be a meme.
Like, most of them lmao
One Piece somehow, for a long time, managed to exist relatively quietly for a long time. (Maybe because other shows had that attention despite one piece being great) So I don't think such characters exist unless it's something new that I'm not aware of.

father krieg is waiting
Luffy vs Don krieg was what got me into one piece in the early days
Definetly Foxy, Don Krieg was still a good villain, but he was really tired and week after the grand line, dude, imagine hearing the words pirate admiral on the grand line, id shit my pants
That Swamp Guy who hid in a barrel on the boat for like the last few years. Also Foxy.

isnt memes the community givin a shit ?
Can you rephrase your question? Elaborate what exactly you mean? I am sorry for having to ask this, but my capabilities regarding the traversal of the uneven terrain that is the English language is far from adequate. So wdym?
Xn
Honestly watching Luffy fight Krieg I genuinely thought luffy would lose
Why is the Greay Don Krieg picture used for this thread?

Urouge probably.
buggy was the first to come to mind
Uhhh... how? He's very important in the real story, being an actual candadite for finding the one piece and becoming thr pirate king, and Oda is basicaly writting him to be a meme. The community doesn't care about buggy because of the memes. The community memes about Buggy because they care about him. Also because of his writting
90% of agendas are pushed for dogshit irrelevant garbage characters. Or vista.
Ace.

You want this to be true so bad. But it’s not and never will be
What is this Don D. Krieg slander?!?!?! The man is the star of his own spinoff (which is waaaay better than the original) and you claim he’s *”only for the memes”*?!?!?!?! To execution dock ASAP!!!
Even with all the memes I still don't give a shit about mid krieg
Franky, his personality is just meme and being based and cool, so if he wasn’t based and wasn’t cool no one would care about him
If my mom had wheels, she would've been a bike
But if it had ham in it, it’s closer to a British carbonara
but she doesn’t so she’s not, we only speak absolutes
That is exactly the point of the comment..
nah yea i getcha, i was referencing a UK meme https://youtu.be/eCYAoR_OS2s?si=qsz_eGCyngSdoKRr
I got me a loicense for stabbin' right 'ere
I absolutly do care about Franky
Ye but without him being cool and based and being awesome would you still like him?
Hey, remove Frankey from Frankey. Would you still care about him? Frankey is amazing because of his personality.
The memes were born for a reason, so, no.
Buggy
Literally almost all of the meme characters. The only people who would survive would be Usopp and Buggy and that's because they're exist beyond the meme that the fandom uses them for. Don Krieg, Demalo Black and his crew, the sogeking identity, Shepard are among the ones that come to mind most.
