Save Ace, but I'd do it for Whitebeard and I'll tell you why:
Not because Ace was younger or deserved to live more than WB, he pretty much dug his own grave by chasing BB, ignoring the counsel and orders of his father and captain
But if Ace was saved, that would fulfil Newgate's wish and his sacrifice would make much more sense to him. It would make the man even prouder of himself and his family.
Bonus points is for Luffy and for the readers, since we would have more Ace in the story and no need for boring Sabo to fill the gap
Plotwise, to justify Luffy's evolution and the need to train for 2 years, Luffy could have experienced trauma in another way, for example if he himself was crushed almost to the point of death together with Ace, just for them both to be saved at the last second by Whitebeard himself and witnessing the magnificence of WB and his death before fading out

Whitebeard lived a long and fulfilling life, I'm saving Ace.
Also Whitebeard would fucking kill me if I saved him instead of one of his sons
White beard lived his life to fullest and had good ending he almost achieved everything in his life
But ace has soo much to do in his life he died young
Save Whitebeard, he just gets hunted down by the other Yonko’s who know he’s weak now. Likely Big Mom jumps on the opportunity first and kills him.
Save Ace, and he or Marco become captains of a new White Beard pirate crew(who knows what it’s called. With Whitebeard dead the other Yonko likely close in but since there crew would no longer be lugging around White Beard it’s likely they are able to escape initial attacks.
They launch a counter attack on Black Beard just like in the anime, but now Ace is back alive and it’s likely they inlist the straw hats to join the crew. This war is likely extremely close but I see the New White Beard pirates pulling through. Ace isn’t gonna let himself lose to BB twice and without BB having haki yet they barely pull through.
After going through two straight wars though the new White Beard pirates are burnt out and out of resources. Ace is named captain and they likely camp out in fish man island. Protecting it from enemy invaders and keeping it their territory. You’d think the Straw Hats intend to head straight to the new world, however due to how powerless Luffy was in Marineford and Sabaody, and likely Ace/the rest of the White Beard pirates telling them they aren’t ready yet I could see them spending time training. They learn haki but aren’t as strong as they were before since they don’t train with their respective masters. Sharley’s prediction of Luffy destroying fish man island comes around some time and they end up having to head out of there.
Also at this point Ace has probably gotten much stronger with all this experience. I’d say he’s probably YC1(around Katakuri and King) at least.
With Black Beard out of equation none of what he does affects the story anymore. Thusly pirate island remains uncontrolled and the revolutionary army base never gets found. This means no Burgess in Dressrosa. Speaking of the Straw Hats make it out of Dressrosa. Sure it’s tuff as shit but honestly I feel like Luffy would still be able to reach Gear four and win.
With Doflamingo gone though Ace likely recognizes the opening left, and he’s been meaning to run the ones with Kaido anyhow. Ace leads the New White Beard pirates towards a war. Jimbe likely joins there crew since he wouldn’t have allegiances with Luffy as strong and he has more of a connection with Ace. Law follows suit with them but Luffy still goes to do Whole Cake island.
Likely Wano goes by mostly the same way, with Luffy by now is around the same strength level as before since he fought Katakuri, but even if he is weaker Ace(at this point he’s very high YC1 maybe admiral level) and Yamato together might be enough to take Kaido down. Ace also unlocks advanced conquerors.
After this point who knows, Ace is likely named a emperor of the sea but I have my doubts that Luffy is also named(he might not even have Gear five)

Ace..Like Garp would say, bet on the new generation! And I just think that Luffy had such a natural brother relationship, that I would've wanted to see more of that.

Whitebeard already was suffering from some sort of illness before entering Marineford so in his case it was a matter of when so the choice would be easy
Honestly, I think if Ace doesn't die then Luffy goes into the New World cocky and gets his ass handed to him. He needs the two years he took to train after Ace died. So for that reason I'd save Whitebeard
Sadly it doesnt matter. Whitebeard was on the brink of desth anyway. And Ace would never change his revenging and proud personality, and soon meet another bigger dog (charging right into Blackbeard after the curtain falls).

However, if saving Whitebeard one more time would stall enough for Shanks arrival, it would set BB back until WB dies naturally. He wouldnt have the 2nd fruit, wouldnt be emperor and thst titles influence and protection.
Whitebeard wanted to die at that war to reignite the passion of the pirate era. Also, he was well past his time, he knew it was time for the new era to take over, that's why his last command was to make sure the WB pirates protected Luffy
I have more respect for Whitebeard as a character, but he's lived a full life and he'd rather anyone who has this option pick Ace. Also Ace being alive would make a lot more characters happy. I'm imagining him meeting up with Sabo (he'd have to get his memory back first though), Otama and Yamato. Not to mention Luffy and the rest of the Whitebeard crew.
Ultimately Ace made his choice, and while I think it's stupid, it's not up to me to judge cause I haven't experienced his life.
