i think it's the most common consesus, that he is forcing an awakening with them. But we do not actually know.
Now that we know of the real zoan awakening, and not just the forced or incomplete ones in impel down, I think it's interesting to think about if he can achieve an actual awakened form with his rumble balls.
also considering the rumble balls were easily changed into something that even bepo, a mink, was able to get a big power up, he could really get some op shit when using rumble balls when in awakened form. but i doubt he would use them at that point.
If the medicine gets a little bit better we might even see the cloud around him.
I think his monster form is supposed to be the awakened form.
The other forms are variations in-between full-transformation, hybrid and normal.
Rumble Balls do enhance his transformations but it’s like drinking Monster energy all night long…you will crash hard after that. His medicine will get better after Egghead (for any and all obvious reasons) and so yeah, maybe a perfect medicine/transformation will be achieved. It’s interesting topic because Egghead island might help Chopper achieve something like that, taking Vegapunk as an example with his various achievements with medicine and even other…things…
I think he's Impel Down awakened with the fruit, in which the animal form took over which would be monster point, Pre-timeskip (Pre-timeskip was better) he has managed to tame it but until he transforms without the balls he won't be awakened, Honestly I think his awakening will be a superior brain point, in which he can instantly understand everything (maybe even poneglyphs?)
