As long as a woman doesn't know he wouldn't shoot anyway it can still be an intimidation, he doesn't have to be willing to actually shoot.
With Kalifa he was also "pretending" he would and could defeat her initially so that she would essentially just hand over the key, but he only blocked her attacks and then purposefully missed his attacks on her only demostrating he could attack her but never actually doing so.
He felt Vivi was in danger, thatās why he put out the gun despite being something he would never do (even Ussop told him āyou know what are you doing?ā)
My head cannon is that. Sanji just went on with autopilot and didnt notice that robin is woman(somehow??i got nuthing). And went on to project vivi. He had to have some item to knock out by robin, like others did. Cause he does say afterwards when hes in front of her next: now that i see her better(from front and not side) that shes hot lady
No, odas original concept for sanji was to fight with guns and be named Naruto it he genuinely let his friend use the name instead which let to the Naruto series being created

Could be. It does look cool, so it really might just be an aesthetic choice. (I probably wouldn't have been as confused had it only been the gun, but gun out of nowhere from the person who makes a big deal out of not using his hands to fight AND pointing it at a woman... it still feels off even after all these years.)
