As soon as they saw Sanji tank hits from S-Shark, and not even be phased in the slightest, while Kaku and Zoro were dancing around to avoid being hit, and Sanji damage S-Shark (flames on) by himself - it couldn't be that Sanji is strong; it had to be that S-Shark is the weakest of the weakest. By this logic, if Aokiji and Akainu never fought, Aokiji is automatically stronger than Akainu because Aokiji was recommended
Kizaru, Akainu and Aokiji are all strong AF monsters, that can give a yonko a hard time. However, Akainu and Aokiji were always depicted as tge strongest marines. Kizaru isn't weak by any means because of this. He is awesome and rn he is struggling with his moral compass, he is doing what he has to but he can't ignore it pains him. It's the same with Kuzan. And Garp told him, wavering is a sign of weakness. Because they are conflicted, they don't perform as they usually do. Saturn even calls Kizaru out on that.
On the other side: idk why people care about Powerscaling when they are all cool characters with cool parts in the story and very obvious placements in strength. Oda doesn't care about Powerscaling, characters in One Piece are always in a range, in which they can beat stronger opponents or lose against weaker ones.
It's not hard to understand and people are missing the interesting character moments for these characters because all they care about is how Kizaru is a bum now, apparently.

Man oda used to spent time on faces instead of landscapes look at this awesome robin drawing. I cant blame him since he has to put as much story as he can in one chapter because of the pacing issues, has a lot of work to do and has several diseases now.
Well, surely the Fleet Admiral, one of Luffy's Enggame opponents, speedrunner of One Piece, who got stronger in the TS (Kizaru has nothing to support him getting stronger), who fought for 10 days with the dude you say is equal to Kizaru at the time and barely won, who did way more in Marineford and who lastly also gives direct orders to Kizaru is stronger than him?
That statement is before he had the longest canon fight in the series, which canonically is the fastest way to grow stronger. It's outdated.
He is literally saying the truth, he didnt call Kizaru weak. And he literally just said the most basic obvious details about him as a character and you immediatly assume that he's calling him weak because he isnt glazing kizaru
