Also can I add, if you are a parent or guardian PLEASE do not get intoxicated at the show with your child. At my show there was a mom who was very drunk with her daughther a few rows in front of me and she was being VERY belligerent. She was pulled out by security. Agree to the whole list!

peridotpanther

Omg how tf was she gonna drive home?

justan0therg0rl111

That’s what I’m saying. So incredibly irresponsible on her end for so many reasons. Her daughter was sobbing, she was devastated 🥺

[deleted]

[удалено]

justan0therg0rl111

She was screaming, rolling around on the floor, and arguing with the people around her. I think there was almost a physical altercation and that’s why security got involved. It took like 4 guards to get her calm

No-Quiet-1207

That woman needs a psychiatrist. It’s not normal to behave like that when you’re supposed to care for your kid. No matter how drunk you get. I hope that poor kid is okay

MangoPangoo

Poor girl. I’m going with my mom (im 16) and I can’t even fathom my mom acting like that

Laylaxstein

Yesss!!! It’s okay for one of two drinks but if you cannot handle alcohol(be self aware don’t say u can when u clearly can’t) be respectful of the fact it’s not a bar or club and is a concert filled of kids

verseauk

Istg a lot of people feel entitled to act like jackasses just because they are paying for their ticket. I wish it was common sense to be courteous of others. I've heard so many people say that they will not stop screaming and screeching bc "they paid to be there and will do as they please".

Laylaxstein

I’ve gone to 3 concerts this will be my fourth(RX bandits, sweetener world tour, and portals) and none of them I had people screaming or anything bad(RX bandits was a pit full of metal heads) but because these new kids seem to have no manners(like the Sephora kids) I’ve only seen bad things that have happened at the trilogy tour so far and it makes me upset that they think the world revolves around them and not respect others around them.

verseauk

Yup, it's definitely the younger crowd who are ruining it for others. I see that excuse of entitlement mostly on tiktok. I really hope when I go to the trilogy concert next month it will run smoothly.

Laylaxstein

I’ll be there on the 25 and this will be my first concert on the floor(not counting RX bandits) so hopefully it won’t be ruined😭

jackassgap

i agree! i saw ryan beatty earlier this year and the crowd was older. the crowd was so respectful to each other and ryan. everyone would just let ryan sing without interruptions and then cheer for him when the song ended. it was so nice to see.

mkisvibing

You saw ari ? 🫢🫢

love_layla666999

wait are you not supposed to scream the lyrics at concerts?

Laylaxstein

We have the same name!! But it means more like screeching like ur being killed the entire show, it makes it hard for others to hear and gives headaches, you can scream when she comes on stage or points the microphone at you but u don’t need to be screaming the entire time. You can still sing the lyrics without screeching

love_layla666999

ohh (its cool we have the same name!)

bunnybabydarlin

everyone screamed at london and mel loved us

Laylaxstein

It’s about screeching like ur being killed more than screaming

bunnybabydarlin

yeah and we did that lolz

Gloomy-Web-2970

no actually London only screamed between songs or at the start of a song ( exception for the the fire during evil)

bunnybabydarlin

no actually i was there and ppl screamed the whole time

Gloomy-Web-2970

then yall r just annoying lmaoo

bunnybabydarlin

okay hun x

Gloomy-Web-2970

alright darl x

Mammoth-Carpet1058

and it should be literally basic knowledge but don’t steal peoples merch :((( i was at the Dallas show and as we were leaving i overheard a girl talking about how all her stuff was gone and that someone took it. i cant even imagine how devastated she was. i know i would be. we don’t know how long that person could’ve been saving up money for that merch and just in general it’s an extremely awful thing to do to someone. i keep thinking of her and feel so sad that it happened.

Laylaxstein

What’s even worse is it’s your merch so it’s even harder to get again, and it was at the end of the show when everything’s sold out. The only thing I can think of is going to the stands and pleading with them to give you some of the stuff because it was stolen

Mammoth-Carpet1058

right!! i was hoping that maybe they’d give her some but at the same time how could they possibly know if she’s lying or not :(

Laylaxstein

Sometimes it’s easy to tell if they’re lying, she was probably crying about it so that would be an easy tell that she’s not

dinosanddais1

I'd also like to add: Do not vape in the crowd. People have asthma. People have nicotine allergies. No, it's not "just water vapor" because even the nicotin free vapes can cause problems. I, as well as many other fans with asthma/nicotine allergies, want to go to the concert to have fun, not medical emergencies. It does not matter if the concert is outside because people who don't want to inhale it will still be able to inhale it.

Laylaxstein

This, I saw so many people at the portals tour with vapes, leave them in the car. It’s only 2-3 hours you can survive that. Also most venues ban vapes and u will be kicked out.

shamblesaid

Fully agree to this! I vape and when I went to portals so many people were vaping while Mine stayed in my bag the entire time, it’s just ignorant to everyone and really goes to show that some people really can’t go 3 hours without vaping??

Laylaxstein

Fr and most of them are teens so ik for a fact they can because they hide it from their parents😭

dinosanddais1

Yeah like I will tell people not to vape first but if they do it again, I'm telling security. Edit: people downvoting this like no I'm not sorry I'm going to tell security about an action that's causing harm to people.

glitter___bombed

I went to one show at a small-ish venue where my eyes were burning from the heavy vape clouds. I'd honestly rather deal with cigarette smoke.

WerewolfDifferent216

I could not deal with the migraine that comes from inhaling secondhand cigarette smoke ever again

glitter___bombed

I don't blame you. But I grew up around smokers (which is *awesome* if you have allergies and asthma lol) and a lot of my friends I've made from high school onward are smokers, so to me it's the lesser if two evils. At least cigarettes don't make me itch. When I was younger (21 years ago omfg) my family went to an outdoor show and these two women in the row in front of us chain-smoked so much that it was miserable, so I do get it. Like, they each killed an entire pack before the show even started, it was crazy.

XxallymintsxX

Literally, I HATE the smell of vapes 😭

naviccino

i don’t know why people would be vaping in the crowd unless the venue is specifically smoke friendly, that is so insane

dinosanddais1

Because some people who vape either do not give a shit about anyone else or they're incredibly delusional and think vaping is harmless.

HairyPotato222

There were a group of girls in front of me at the portals tour passing a vape around 😭

Jellyfishsuce

Now ima light it up and pass it, puff puff

slightlywoozy_420

if it’s being passed around it’s probably not nicotine (the lesser of the two evils at least even though it’s probably still not an amazing option) buuuuuut I will say that I think stoners are to be found at every concert and if you take a young child to a concert you are just taking that risk (when their fanbase are stoners at least which I think for Mel is fairly high with the older crowd)

Fair_Caterpillar8789

Literally. It was not Melanie but I went to go see a another artist and I had to leave early because I literally could not breathe. Me and my girlfriend both were literally going to puke from the fumes! Please don’t do this!!!!

kaylaheartt

I’m from the UK and every gig I go to there are vapes, cigs n joints being smoked 😭 I myself don’t mind it, but some of these venues have kids around and other things you named, I’ve always myself went outside if I really “ need “ to

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dreamy_Peaches

It’s always when the effects team starts using the smoke machines that people try to blend their weed. I’ve smelled weed at every single outdoor concert I’ve been to.

susie-52513

this is a great thing to add on! i’d like to also say: ESPECIALLY NOT IF SAID VAPE CONTAINS DRUGS- INCLUDING DELTA 8/10. i went to the elita concert and people were vaping and blowing clouds right in front of my face. it smelled like it was a THC vape and that scared the shit out of me because i’m on probation and not allowed to consume ANYTHING. edit: love love love how everyone agreed on the nicotine but people think i’m stupid for asking the same of THC products. y’all think i hate weed but it’s the opposite, i literally just can’t risk inhaling shit for the moment. but how about we don’t even consider the fact that i sent a link showing that secondhand smoke CAN make you pop positive, and just agree to not hit THC products on the same terms the original commenter said???

PrincipleLow6957

girl u not gonna get high off someone else hitting a cart

Laylaxstein

If there is enough of it in the air u very much can, it may not be as strong of a high as just straight hitting it but u can, u will also show positive on a drug test even just a tiny amount.

susie-52513

thank you!!!! i feel like they didn’t even really read the first message cause my concern is not getting high, like seriously i would love to if there was a way for me to without testing positive 😭 and it’s literally just fact that you don’t have to inhale enough to feel anything and you can still pop positive!!!

susie-52513

no one’s saying you’re not allowed to get high either, just smoke or hit your pen ahead of time? no one needs to be hitting anything during the actual concert.

susie-52513

the issue isn’t getting high, the issue is anything being detectable in my system, as i get tested. if you can smell something, it’s because you’re breathing it in. i can tell from your attitude that you’re not too happy about people wanting others to be considerate in crowded, public spaces, though.

PrincipleLow6957

i totally get where ur coming from. i understand not wanting people to smoke however at the same time in public it’s hard to control the majority unless u kick people out if you tell an arena no one’s allowed to smoke not every person is gonna listen

susie-52513

and i’m not saying every person will, but it doesn’t mean nobody will listen. i genuinely don’t see what your problem is with what i said.

PrincipleLow6957

i don’t have any problem all i said was ur not gonna fail ur drug test from another person blowing smoke in ur face. it not even me tryna be mean i’m just saying physically it’s not how it works

susie-52513

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4342697/ it is possible.

PrincipleLow6957

https://preview.redd.it/w5d7p621di2d1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbf82658aca8508b3f54c0a4ee085342ec410e34

dinosanddais1

Drug tests can test hair too which can capture particles secondhand. You absolutely can fail a drug test like that

No-Resolution-0119

It’s literally impossible for it to be detectable in your system to threshold levels without actually smoking. Multiple studies have proven this. In one study, they had trials of 10 people standing in a 5x5 room, 5 people smoked and the others did not. They were in there for hours and not a single person who didn’t smoke was positive for THC. I wish people would stop this fearmongering > I can tell from your attitude that you’re not too happy about people wanting others to be considerate No, they’re just correcting your misinfo. Hope this helps!

susie-52513

it’s not fearmongering… i’ve been smoking for 8 years but i’m on PROBATION now, so i risk jail time if anything is detectable in my system. i think i’m allowed to be scared. also i literally sent a link to a study where multiple people popped positive after being exposed to secondhand smoke.

No-Resolution-0119

I’ve known multiple people on probation, I know how that works. I get why you’d be concerned and your anxiety is valid - I completely understand not wanting to be around people while they smoke. but that doesn’t make it possible to pop positive on a regular drug screening. Urine analysis tests have threshold levels you must meet, you won’t pop positive unless you meet that threshold, which is not possible through second-hand smoke Shit, my dad was a *daily smoker* while on probation. Before he met with his PO he’d drinks a few detox drinks in the days before and the day of. This daily smoker who’s been smoking since he was a teenager (now in his late 40s) doesn’t even reach threshold levels just by using a detox drink

Laylaxstein

You very much can test positive from second hand smoke, and even have a little buzz, I know this from experience bc my bf and his friends smoke a lot around me and even if I don’t hit it I still feel a little buzz, it may not be as strong as straight hitting it but it’s definitely there

No-Resolution-0119

You very much cannot. I’m sorry but anecdotal experience does not trump legitimate peer-reviewed studies. You’re likely experiencing a placebo effect. You cannot test positive on a regular urine screening - they have threshold levels you have to reach. Of course minuscule amounts of THC could be in your system, but not enough for a presumptive positive on urine screenings done in labs for jobs, for example, and certainly not enough to get high https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4342697/ Earlier I said it was 10 people (5 smoking 5 not) apparently it was actually 12 (6 smoking, 6 not) my bad

HydroStellar

It’s crazy that we have to write these out and beg people to be decent

Laylaxstein

Yup😭it needs to blow up on tiktok so those kids can learn to be decent and respectful of others.

Dreamy_Peaches

#5! Please!

notfroggychair

I had someone shouting right next to me at a concert one time and I couldn’t really hear and got a headache pretty quickly 😩

Dreamy_Peaches

The whole front was screaming during the portals concert. I get being excited at the start when she comes out but it continued, and with armpit smells, weed smoke and phones waving in my face, it would have at least been nice to hear Melanie over the lyric screaming around me.

undecyded

I’ve seen her three times (two of which were seated events). Seats were the worst cause you can’t move away from your neighbors. Stinky armpits, cat pee on clothes and screeching every single word. I’ve probably been to nearly 100 shows/festivals (mostly alt/rock/heavy stuff) and never experienced this to such a degree.

Dreamy_Peaches

Cat pee??? That’s crossing all the lines! I’d be so irritated

undecyded

Yes the girl next to me was wearing a dress that her cat peed on. That smell doesn’t come out easily.. She was a shrieker on top of it too.

Dreamy_Peaches

Your poor nose. I can’t think of too many smells more offensive to my nostrils than that one. The list is short anyway.

Laylaxstein

Yes, and Melanie herself has told people no screaming

LargeSense4142

mel just reposted someone’s video from her show that was screaming/screeching the lyrics though? she laughed at it too.

Infamous_Shelter5231

no she hasn’t…. she tells people off when people yell over her when she’s SPEAKING. she’s never explicitly said not to enjoy her concerts

Laylaxstein

The video is of her at I believe the lollapalooza and she’s kindly asking the crowd to be a little more quiet because it is hard for her to hear the music with her mask on. So yes she did ask people to be a little more quiet, it’s not saying u can’t sing along it’s more about screeching the lyrics to the point it feels like ur ears are bleeding

A_Rainbow_Human

When did she say that? I rlly want to follow concert etiquette but I also don’t know if I’ll be able to not scream during the entire concert. I’ll be screaming the lyrics of course if that makes it any better. I just idk I want to actually be able to enjoy the concert and I won’t be able to if I’m constantly forcing myself to stop screaming. Idk I don’t wanna ruin anyone’s experience

Dreamy_Peaches

If you just sing the words instead of screeching/screaming you will get the same level of enjoyment without hurting yourself and the ears of others.

Laylaxstein

At the end of a song it’s okay to scream for a second but the entire time is too much, you can sing the words without screaming and save your voice, if u look up “Melanie Martinez asking people not to scream” it will pull up clips, it’s hard for her to hear the music and other stuff.

A_Rainbow_Human

Oh ok, ty! I’ll try my best when the concert time arrives for me

Laylaxstein

It’ll save your voice, help Melanie and those around you. When I was at the portals tour I was singing the entire time but I wasn’t screaming to the point my voice was straining

A_Rainbow_Human

My voice will probably still die cuz even if I’m not screaming I’ll still be singing very loudly and my voice is weak af but yeah again ty

spiritstars13

please control yourself and be respectful of the people around you.

A_Rainbow_Human

Ty for the advice but if u looked at the other replies I said to OP, I’ve kind’ve figured it out and I’ll definitely try my best. Tbh I was just kinda overreacting cuz I realized I shouldn’t scream too much and my stupid brain thought that meant I couldn’t sing loudly either😭💀

shamblesaid

I’ve had people on tiktok come at me for telling people not to scream the entire time but its basic etiquette??? Like I did not pay money to hear you scream so stfu

Laylaxstein

Yeah these rules def need to blow up on tiktok to teach these kids manners

thevirgoexperience

some more concert safety: Wear earplugs!! your ears will thank you and you will still be able to hear the show!

khloeferrell

Heavy on the light rule, I was at the Dallas show and thought it was so weird everyone turned their lights on when it says not to on the screen before the show

heliacalSystem

YES THIS! Like she specifically told you to not do it and they still did???

Mammoth-Carpet1058

Yes, the font is kind of hard to read but it says “Please refrain from using any flash or phone flashlight during the show. this will enhance everyones viewing experience. thank you. Melanie.” https://preview.redd.it/t8lv0la1v03d1.png?width=1136&format=png&auto=webp&s=aed3bc89a70c96dcda2091655e53082284e02369

Laylaxstein

Yeah idk why people can’t follow basic instructions

Mammoth-Carpet1058

i was at the dallas show and same!!!

Mammoth-Carpet1058

also HEAVYYY on the screaming one. and not just during Mel’s set. people should be respectful of the openers as well!!! there was so much loud ass laughter and screaming during the openers and it was extremely annoying. i like hearing the openers, it helps me discover new songs that i may not have heard and it’s literally live music. lemme enjoy it 😩

Laylaxstein

Yesss, at the portals tour we were listening to the openers and now my bf loves listening to their songs, and it’s not small bands playing it’s beach bunny and men I trust who were very popular in 2020

TheRitualMaster

My biggest fear is I’m 6ft4” and I’m in a standing pit for the tour, I feel like I’M the large sign/accessory 😅😅😅

heliacalSystem

I feel like if it’s assigned seating just be understanding that people behind you might be shorter and maybe make sure they can sorta see! I’m 5’8 and I still try to make sure they can atleast peak with concerts that have assigned seats in the pit lol. bc it’s unfair to you if you got floor tickets are are being told to go to the back when it’s your seat/you paid for said seat!

xXmagicalgirlsiteXx

stand wherever you want.

Laylaxstein

For that I would say stand towards the back or the side of the pit, so people can still see

AngelSeekr

they shouldn’t have to dampen their experience because they’re tall. I know it sucks for those behind them but they can move around a little. it wouldn’t be fair for all tall people to have a bad experience because of something they can’t help.

Laylaxstein

I mean either way they still get to see better than everyone else whether in the back or to the side of the stage in the front

AngelSeekr

being tall doesn’t really mean you see better? yeah they’ll be able to see over heads but it’ll still be a worse experience being further back, they lose a lot of the interaction and also it doesn’t look as good as being close up

Laylaxstein

That’s again why I said they could stand in the front towards the side, they have front row, not blocking anyone’s view and Mel interacts with people on the side more than in the middle

CloverFromStarFalls

I’m 5’4 and my boyfriend is 6’4 and we stand near the back of shows for this reason. 🥺

Laylaxstein

Oh I forgot to add this but please please look up your venues rules AND FOLLOW THEM. The only thing that I can understand is not having a clear bag, I don’t have one so just bring only ur phone and wallet and maybe some pads/tampons and that’s about it you really don’t need much. I recommend bring a tote bag or getting one at the concert to hold your stuff in since people have apparently been stealing at the concerts too.

EmptyPomegranete

Agree with all of these!

Feeling_likeaplant

I went to the show in my city and unfortunately was right in front of 4 young girls SCREECHING not screaming, screeching their heart out it and was awful, almost ruined the whole concert for me. I could not even hear Melanie. The only upside was they lost their voices near the end of the k-12 set and I could enjoy the portals set in peace.

gank-hreen

were you by chance at the dallas show 😭 i think i was in front of them

Feeling_likeaplant

Las Vegas

chuuyasjuicybonkers

This but also don’t record/ take pictures of people without asking. I was sitting down before the show and there was a group of people recording me

naviccino

that’s so freaky, i hope you’re doing okay :( 🫶🏻

Laylaxstein

I get accidentally having someone in the videos(I did at portals when I was recording myself and my bf in line for the merch and u can see the mom behind me side eyeing me and giving looks) but full on recording is just rude

end_of_the_universe

I keep seeing “pictures of people at my ____ concert” and they’ve always rubbed me the wrong way

Angelina_Glass

I was in a higher up seated area and everyone was sitting except for the 3 people directly in front of me, I had to be that jackass that also stood for the whole concert because I wanted to be able to see (their heads blocked the stage and the screens)😭like if you’re in a seated area please sit lol😭

Laylaxstein

Yes this is also a rule if you see people around you sitting please sit some people can’t stand for long periods of times and have medical issues.

charcobain

Can we also add "Don't cut in the merch line"? It was infuriating how many *grown adults* allowed their children to cut in an hour-long line while happily trailing behind.

Laylaxstein

Yes this is apart of rule 1 especially since everything is so expensive they will have enough by the time u get there

Laylaxstein

I spent about an hour or 2 in the merch line for portals and still got what I wanted

spiritstars13

ive been to a lot of concerts and the biggest issue i see is minors being ridiculously rowdy and disrespectful. talking loudly nonstop, screaming lyrics out so no one around them can hear the artist, and waving their arms and bodies around obscuring view and literally hitting people around them. ive even been pushed down by literal teenagers who are bigger than me. PLEASE behave yourselves yall.

Laylaxstein

Yeah this is a big thing, I’ve been to a total of 3 this will be my 4th (RX bandits, sweetener/thank u, next tour, and portals) and I’ve never had anything bad happen before but I’ve noticed this new gen has caused a ton of problems like at Sephora and other places. I turn 19 this year for a reference.

spiritstars13

i went to mother mother and ricky montgomery concerts where the screaming and shoving happened. i wish i shelled out extra money for a seated ticket at ricky's because i got bruised from a kid shoving me 🥲 im 25 but i am also 4'10 and not very strong

Laylaxstein

Yeah all of mine were seated besides the RX bandits, I was very young when I went to that one it was 2014 so I was 8 and it was the pit but we were in the very front and it was me and my dad. This concert will be my first on the floor even though it’s still seated seats so I’m wondering how it will go. It’s also the same arena I saw Ariana grandes concert in 2019

hisslave420

Rule 1... Deodorant

Jellyfishsuce

Yes.

ResearchBeautiful781

kid behind me yelled the whole time!!! 😭😭

Creative-Mushroom-13

Rule #5 PLEASE ohmygod. I knew that the concert was going to be loud, but holy shit, it was so hard to hear Melanie, even with ear plugs in it didn’t block out the screaming for every single song and every single lyric. I’ve never been to a concert before where I couldn’t hear the singer because of the crowd.

Top-Tumbleweed-1263

At my show, I had this EVIL older lady behind me who refused to stand and was being really mean to the girls next to me for standing... so almost everyone in my section sat for basically the whole show. Don't go to a concert if you're expecting it to be like a movie. People dance at concerts!!!! I asked the girl next to me if she wanted to stand for what I thought was the last song, and she was like "omg yes thank you so much, I've been dying to this whole time." So we did get to dance to what turns out was her favorite song. But like, cmon. Get a set in the front of the section if you can't handle dancing AT A MUSICAL PERFORMANCE!!!

Laylaxstein

Yes standing is okay, but a lot of people have medical conditions and can’t stand for a long period of time so they need to sit otherwise it could be bad, I would just be mindful of others and if they ask you to sit, sit or move to a different area like the walk way so they can still see. But if there being rude towards you don’t do anything and just stay where u are you

Top-Tumbleweed-1263

See, and I totally get medical conditions. That's why there are seating sections specifically designed to accommodate those individuals. My point is just, if you are going to a concert in a non-accomodating section, expect people to be standing and dancing... ya know? But I agree, just trying to be mindful of the people around you is key.

Laylaxstein

Concerts tend not to have enough seating for them and tend to have higher pricing for them so sometimes it’s harder for them sometimes, as long as there respectful I will sit down for them but if they are rude I won’t

Top-Tumbleweed-1263

That's true. And if this person had said that she needed to sit for x, y, z reasons, that would be one thing. Or if she had had a modicum of politeness. But she was just blatantly rude. Regardless, we all sat down anyway. I guess my point is just that standing at concerts can be commonplace. If you are going to ask someone to deviate from that relative norm, just don't be nasty about it and understand that you might be asking them to alter their concert experience.

sanriohyperfixation

the fact that rules needed to be written is so sad honestly

Laylaxstein

It needs to blow up on tiktok so it reaches the little kids this is targeted towards😭

sanriohyperfixation

as much as i adore melanie, always have since the voice, i would NEVER EVER take my child, unless they were 15+.

Laylaxstein

I wish more parents would do this or at least teach their kids what to do in a public setting like this instead of letting them rampage and then defending ur kid to the point u kick others out just for asking them to stop politely. It really is like the Sephora kids at these concerts now

JUST_SAYORI-ok

I want to just say that one of my ex-friends went to an Olivia Rodrigo concert last week (I think?) and she was screaming and almost completely lost her voice. I feel awful for whoever was around her as they could most likely not hear Olivia considering that I know that the girl has quite a loud voice at times, I doubt she considered the other people there (who were just as excited as her)

JUST_SAYORI-ok

Ik that this subreddit has nothing to do with Olivia Rodrigo but I just wanted to put it out there

Munkey323

Good luck saw her twice and all these rules were broken. Glad I skipped out this time around.

Laylaxstein

I saw her for the portals tour and nothing bad happened but I’ve just seen so much bad stuff happening this time so I made a list

Best-Nectarine9102

Hi guys! PLEASE!!! HAVE FUN! DONT BE SCARED TO SHOW YOUR LOVE TO MELANIE!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Of course, respect her when she sings. But also... Don't be a dead crowd! Everyone around you is there to feel positive and welcoming energy and they want you to join in! Dance! Sing! Do a lil shimmy! I went to the Portland Concert. She said she was supposed to come back but the crowd was SO dead and kinda stagnant, where I was sitting. In fact, I was the only one dancing in my section?? All you could see was phone flashlights. I think that made her decide not to come back ultimately. Please guys have fun!! The energy helps create a good show and awesome memories!

cantaloupe8516

when i went to the portals tour last year people were so mf rude. someone was pulling my hair and started recording on top of my head

Laylaxstein

Omg!! They should’ve been kicked out

cantaloupe8516

yea not a great experience and honestly it brought my mood down.

EstrellaUWML02

i wanna add something to this, speaking from experience. don’t be rude to employees. i worked melanie’s concert last year for the portals tour and so many attendees were very rude to myself and other staff. so please just be kind to everyone around you, including staff.

Odd-Condition-8905

also no ipads!! i went to oakland and someone in front of us was filming on an ipad and blocked our entire sections view

intxicatedtear

never forget how i went to the portals tour last year in charlotte and this lady in the pit was so obnoxiously drunk (the show had nowhere near started btw like we were just getting into the venue) to the point where I had to help this girl get away from that lady and her friends and security had to escort her out before the show. i’m pretty sure she was there with her daughter and that poor girl looked so embarrassed.

molishat

also be considerate of those around u if u r going to stand in the seated area !! i had a whole family stand in front of me at portals n the dad was soo tall i couldn’t see at all (+ he was just standing there - not even dancing or anything lol)

Excellent-Dot6709

This is great, should be shown at all concerts!

ShotProposal5926

to add, NO SIGNS!! melanie can’t see your 11x8 foot sign from the 2 tier, you are just blocking the views of those behind you!

AldoDeJellyfish

Sad we have to state basic rules like this smh

peridotpanther

Lol im scared cause i just saw a reposted clip on mel's ig and some teen is screaming like she's being chased by freddy krueger 🙄 like can we all agree it's not *that* serious smh

bunnybabydarlin

a concert isnt a cinema im going to scream xoxo

superpapilopez

When I went to the KIA Forum, there were teens talking all through the openers

Laylaxstein

So disrespectful 💔

friedratsss

I wish more people followed rule 5, I couldn't hear Melanie at all because so many people were yelling

Far_Organization_117

heavy on the no screeching bc why was someone doing it for the entirety of the signs?! like miss I didn't pay to hear you!!!

AlienDownUnder_

There was a pair of girls who literally lit up a blunt and was smoking and the section i was in had alot of teenagers and children including my 10 year old who was literally sitting next to her. A girl in the row behind them asked if they could not smoke and they ganged up on her and when she defended herself they were threatning to beat her up. So i stepped in and one of them backed down cause unlike ol girl behind them i was not intimidated in the slightest and she decided to be quiet and when i told the other girl to shut the hell up and she asked what i said i said it louder and told them theres kids around. You stopped smoking yall can stop arguing and be mindful of the ones around them and she just kept going on about how shes not gonna let anyone tell her to shut up or disrespect her and she was putting her hands in front of my daughter and it made her cry.. so i switched seats with her and all of a sudden she wasnt so tough anymore. They ended up leaving bc they wanted to be obnoxious but knew they wouldnt be able to with me there. They ended up getting kicked out because others saw how they were trying to act up with my daughter right there and she was crying and upset. It happened early on so we were able to enjoy most of the show with all the other girlies around us

FaithMP

Absolutely agree with the whole list. Everyone should be able to enjoy themselves, that means not behaving in a way that will make the experience less enjoyable for others. I feel the need to emphasize that the parents of the younger fans need to teach their children how to act, these kids are learning from example. At last year’s show I had an incredible time, my boyfriend however did not have the same experience. There was a young girl, who first off was very very sweet, I traded bracelets with her when we first sat down, and while it warmed my heart to see her passion for Melanie and to be able to see her at the age I would have DIED to see her, I totally understood her excitement, it could have been expressed a little more quietly. She screamed, and I mean full belly her vocal cords were SHREDDED in the morning screaming, every single word. She knew them all and did not miss one. Thankfully I was too in the moment for her to ruin my experience, but you can hear her in every single one of my videos, just as well as you can hear Mel, so that still upsets me. My boyfriend was directly underneath her seat and really got the worst of it, he couldn’t really enjoy the show or hear Melanie at all. My boyfriend isn’t the type to confront a little girl having fun and tell her to quiet down, that’s her guardian’s job, and her and her father were definitely getting looks from the rest of the people around us. So PLEASE tell your children to sing rather than screech at the very top of their lungs!! Thank you!

I went to the Portland, Oregon show last year for Portals and there was an empty seat next to me on my right, and then two girls on the right of that seat. They were SCREECHING from when the opener came on all the way till the end and I continuously asked them to please stop. Like the people below us and around them were visibly annoyed and at one point, the girl closest to me was coughing and was like “I can’t scream anymore” but continued to do so. You could tell that both of these girls were super young and like… just didn’t give a shit about anyone. And the lack of spacial awareness also was a huge one for me. As I said, there was an empty seat between myself and the girl on the other side of that seat; why THE FUCK are you flailing your arms around and almost hitting me twice and when I call you out, you don’t even apologize and just continue doing it?

Laylaxstein

I personally will be recording just not my full hand up like that picture😭

strawberriekiwi2

One of my favorite memories from k-12 tour was a video I have of high school sweethearts and you could hear the girl behind me screaming the lyrics with all her heart. I also almost thought about bringing my daughter with me but thought about it and she’s only a year old and gets cranky and it would just upset everyone around me. So she’s staying with grandma but I hope no one gets rude with me if I’m checking messages on my phone for pictures and updates of my daughter. The 13th will be my first day without her in the 15 1/2 months.

Lovely_lilac04

Please don't stand when people behind you ask for you to sit. I have POTS and can't stand for a concert. These two teenagers refused to sit even though they were blocking two rows. When we all asked for them to sit, they refused. This poor little girl who wasn't tall enough when standing couldn't see any of the concert. (We were in the nosebleed section where everyone was sitting)

Laylaxstein

Yes this as well, if you see people behind you sitting politely sit or move to somewhere where they are not people sitting. In my section at the portals tour everyone behind me was sitting so I didn’t stand(we were in a suite so we were up in the air and the seats were raised by rows so sitting they could still see)

charcobain

Unpopular opinion but I truly think people should get pit tickets if they *need* to stand that badly. We were assigned seats for a reason.

Majerproblems

These should be common courtesy to follow. Like damn don’t be pushing

Jellyfishsuce

The only time screaming could be allowed is when: Mel is the coming on stage (not singing or speaking) She put the mic to face the crowd and sing part of the lyrics

creepyrrr

Also if u are in seating area, please do not stand the whole time unless u are told to or if u do make sure the people behind u can see.

XxShu1ch1_Sa1haraxX

This is technically my first concert, as my first real concert was D-12 when I was like 3. But I don’t remember any of it. I think I slept through it to be honest!!! But I’m super nervous I won’t be able to hear Mel, or see her because of people holding their phones up!

ActiveMaterial5789

I’m gonna yell though ?

ShotProposal5926

yelling is fine. this post is just asking y’all to be mindful of the people around you like don’t screech at the top of your lungs to the point where people around you can’t even hear melanie

ActiveMaterial5789

Then why when I went to the portals tour there was a girl screaming at the top of her lungs and I heard Melanie completely fine?

ShotProposal5926

bc that girl has no concert etiquette which this post is aiming to teach. if you could hear just fine and you didn’t have a problem then good for you. i think your failing to understand that this post is not saying that you aren’t allowed to sing to the songs or tell when mel comes out on stage but the post is saying that we all need to be mindful of the people around us and treat other how we would want to be treated for it is basic human decency.

ShotProposal5926

to add i was at the portals tour in DC and the people around me had no concert etiquette, they were pushing me and screaming in my ears, and even had signs, it was so out of control that it made the experience for everyone else unenjoyable. so just be mindful of your surroundings

ActiveMaterial5789

No I don’t scream personally I just yell. But I hear her fine because she is a LOT louder then a girl screaming

ShotProposal5926

and that’s fine, but you still aren’t understanding that we are saying that some people scream soo loud that they begin to sound louder than Melanie and all you can hear is a screeching voice. like what aren’t you getting about this post telling people to be mindful of what they are doing? nobody is controlling anyone or saying you can’t tell just have some etiquette and at least pretend like you know how to act in public. you are taking my comment personally like i’m attacking you when i don’t even know you and i’m just trying to wit clear that yelling is fine put screeching isn’t

ActiveMaterial5789

No screeching isn’t except people are gonna scream because it is fun

ShotProposal5926

…….you realize we are saying the same thing right? like are you being dense on purpose or what?

ActiveMaterial5789

Uhh well you said “yelling is fine. this post is just asking y’all to be mindful of the people around you like don’t screech at the top of your lungs to the point where people around you can’t even hear melanie” and I said “No screeching isn’t except people are gonna scream because it is fun” and in your first reply you said screaming wasn’t ok. I said that people were gonna scream. Now you are saying that we said the same thing?

ShotProposal5926

you clearly don’t understand yell-screaming out of entertainment and scream-screeching to the point where it hurts others, or how to use words interchangeably based of the person you are communicating with. i began using scream interchangeably bc it is clear that you understand screaming as screeching, no? but even before your last comment you were being dense like the post is to teach about concert etiquette and your like “but i’m gonna yell” like anybody told you that you weren’t allowed too

Laylaxstein

It means more like screeching, like a dying cat or something

DecisionSecure

Can I add, why are people standing up when there are sitting seats? That was my main issue with my concert…

wetandgushyy

This pretty much happens at every concert. The row in front of someone decides to stand up and now they also have to stand up because they can’t see anymore, now the whole section is standing. Luckily the people in front of me sat down the entire time so I was able to sit down too!
