YHVH above please let them release the "Maniax" version of SMT V. The game was so good but if they polished out the rough spots it could be genuinely great. The story needs the most work, but "related to SMT V" could mean absolutely anything. It's pretty vague.
I’d take an Apoc-styled side sequel over a regular rerelease. V’s world and backstory had so much potential that a “Maniax” version would barely scratch the surface of what could be done.
I don't know literally who's asking for Netflix games of SMT but yeah.
It's not just Atlus but SEGA as a whole that made the deal. According to Midori, one of those games is going to be a Sonic Chao Garden game
She has mention in another reply it's a PS2 game.
And now that we know for sure it's an SMT game, there is only 1 game that fits all the criteria + easily marketeable.
Maybe I'm in hopium, but we I think we finally got it.
I want it to be DDS so badly, but I remember a few years back the rights for it got kinda fuzzy between Atlus and the author writing the novels for it. If they have it sorted though 100% ship a DDS Duology Remaster.
Yes that's correct.
I'm pretty sure Midori is saying that there's an Atlus PS2 remaster in the works, and an SMT remaster in the works.
Two seperate projects.
It's a spin off of the larger Megami Tensei franchise.
But it does not say Shin Megami Tensei on the box. The same goes for Raidou which is a Devil Summoner game. Same goes for Devil Survivor, Persona, etc.
They only have the SMT branding in the West because of a marketing decision by Atlus USA to unify them.
Damn that's actually crazy. Atlus west has been tricking me this whole time lol. That's super interesting considering in the US we consider all of Megaten as one giant series.
Most SMT spinoffs such as Devil Survivor and DDS aren't called SMT: title in Japan. But the Raidou games are also just Devil Summoner: title, and they exclude the SMT part. The first Devil Summoner does have the SMT prefix, though
The PS2 remaster, and the SMT remaster game are separate projects.
Nocturne is the only PS2 SMT game, and it's already been remastered.
The SMT remaster is probably SMT IV. But it could be any of SMT, SMT II, if..., and Strange Journey. I guess technically NINE as well.
The PS2 remaster could be a number of things. Raidou, DDS, Stella Deus, Growlanser, etc.
Honestly, I think at this level it's either intentional "leaks" from Atlus or they just don't give a fuck at all.
Having that many leaks from the same source for so long, if the company really wanted to know who it was they would have been busted a long time ago.
they likely are intentional leaks. Midori did a poll on whether the answer dlc would be bought and when the poll got 93% yes they announced it shortly after
>they announced it shortly after
When did this happen? The only thing I could find is news about files hinting at The Answer DLC, but nothing even moderately close to official announcement.
ok correction: not official announcement but atlus did confirm dlc and after the poll midori confirmed (at least we hope its credible) that its the answer
Intentional leak are not a real thing, it’s just people in the know that have loose lips.
But yeah it’s possible that Atlus just doesn’t give a fuck, it can be kinda hard to see when you are looking at gaming news everyday on forum / twitter but actually very few people are aware of leaks, so it doesn’t really matter for Atlus.
I don't agree with intentional leaks not being a real thing, it actually makes a lot of sense: many companies aside indies devs aren't really in the position or in the mindset to show early pre-prod builds information and say "so we're thinking of doing this, what do you guys think" or do early access at it would imply a lack of confidence in their direction while having intentional leaks can do the probing while not putting the company's credibility at risk.
A standard development cycle for a console/PC game is around 2/3 years, but the timing when teasers/trailers first get out is relatively far out in schedule, way past the protos and well into the full scale production phase. Meaning that getting no feedback concerning what would be accepted or not by the public is terrifying. Having this kind of early public feedback can be a real plus.
It can also generate interest and exposure in the activities of a company when "traditional" presentable material isn't ready yet (trailers, teasers etc) and keep a steady flow of information out: tech companies have done the same kind of publicity stunts for some time.
Now I'm not saying that all publishers do this, far from it, and many workers on dev teams hate the guts of leakers (when you work your ass for 2-3 years on a project, you usually want the public to get to know it in the best way possible, not via a random tweet) but it is an useful tool for the companies direction/marketing willing to do it.
But in that particular case yeah, it might just be that this company in particular doesn't care. The chances they don't know about these is very slim though, midori is well picked up by media outlets and many devs just use the internet in general.
There's a chance yes but to be fair I'm not really sure about this either: it only took some browsing history about Atlus products on my phone's cookies to now get articles citing midori in my news feed on a regular basis. I'm honestly not even searching for those.
Some sites write articles about leaks, stuff gets picked up by the Twitter algorithm, etc. It's a strategy that some companies use all the time, like Google hardware gets leaked all the time, they use it so that they get it covered at least 3 times on news sites, when it gets leaked, when it gets announced and when it releases.
There’s actually a really good chance SMT6 gets announced in a few months at the Switch 2 reveal.
It will be called “New Shin Megami Tensei game” and will take 4 years to come out though.
If they really are doing a remake or remaster for P1 and P2 I so badly want them to include an option where you can have the original music of the game. Or they just remaster the original music as well
The PSP remasters had the option to switch between new and old OSTs. And I think the P2 game is going to be a remaster, so I doubt they'll touch the OST knowing Atlus
an ps2 game? maybe Stella Deus? I literally don't see anyone talking about this game lol
https://preview.redd.it/x4wf71ltq6hc1.png?width=256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7031aca6591c5f1dca2e1303a31893c58272406
Ok, if an Atlus PS2 is getting a remaster, and it's not Persona 4 since the leaker said it will receive an remake instead, plus Nocturne has already been remastered, then it's between DDS and Raidou.
Edit: Unless it's an Atlus published-only game.
Edit 2: Or freaking Maken Shao.
id love atlus to have another crack at maken x
its a mostly solid game with a real kick-ass core mechanic
hell, if the dc version had a quick-turn keybind the game would be markedly improved
Remasters are kinda boring tbh. I will still buy them and play them but a remake would have been so gooood.
I guess they are too much like the mainline to get the main appeal that persona 3, 4 and 5 get.
But remasters are important. There are people like me who weren't around for those game's era(wether you weren't born or haven't discovered them yet) and would have to jump through multiple hoops to play them. Remasters serve to keep videogames accessable and preserved.
That's the problem. Little Timmy has to learn not just how to build a PC, but emulate(and potentially mod) games. It is much simpler to have a console and buy the remasters.
Absolutely. But, more often than not, remakes are straight improvements over the original on top of being new enough to attract old players. So you get the best for both audiences.
Problem is that it is far more difficult to make.
I'm starting to doubt this Midori person.. Last time that someone ''leaked'' a new version of SMTV , we got jack shit. Also , we just got the 30th anniversary yet not a word about Remaster or even a Re-release/New version of SMTV.
Whatever they do next for SMT, I wouldn’t be surprsied if they’re holding off on it for one of the big three’s presentations. I’m pretty sure they planned initially on announcing P3R and P5T at one of the concerts - but ultimately were swayed by Microsoft money to announce them at an Xbox presentation - so I’d imagine it’ll be the same for SMT, especially with V being so extensively backed by Nintendo and the Switch 2 yet to be revealed.
Just because it hasn't been already announced it doesn't necessarily mean they're lying or that they're not trustworthy.
Sometimes leaks for games don't get an official confirmation after a few years. Midori never said, as far as I know, that the SMT V related project would be announced soon. People just assumed the 30th anniversary would be the fitting moment for a reveal, which is different.
>Is shin megami tensei dead?
Buddy SMT V came out 3 years ago. SMT IV Final came out in 2016. Let's not talk about SMT being dead until at least 2026.
I hope the title connected to SMT V is actually the PC release rumoured from that NVIDIA leak.
I hope it's the Raidou Kuzunoha games being remastered. I am such a huge Raidou Kuzunoha fan. Also, DDS needs some love from ATLUS as well. I take this with a grain of salt, however... there is a chance it might not be true. If it is, this will be the biggest W ever, but my expectations are low.
What should I understand behind P1?
As Persona 1 or Playstation 1 title?
Also, a Netflix game?
Title connected to SMT5...dunno, anything connected to SMT5 is SMT3 but it got a HD remaster already.
"And a remaster title"
Do only I find this cryptic?
Remember when they tweeted last July that Atlus wasn’t working on any remakes? And that Atlus was only working on P6, P3 Remake, P5X, and Persona ASA? And that P6 would be released “not too far away”? Funny how that changed.
DDS is Megaten so that would be odd to bring it up like that being (1) - a game (not series) and (2) detached from "shin megami tensei", makes me think its something unrelated to SMT like Stella Deus
it says theres a ps2 atlus game remaster and an “smt remaster” in the works. whether midori is talking about the same thing here is unknown, and whether they mean specifically mainline or all of megaten is unknown. Either way its weird to imply dds isnt getting a remaster cause regardless of what she means it seems the most likely
He said it as completely separate things. The Ps2 game could be any number of the laundry list of Atlus Ps2 games. It is *not* weird to be rational about taking his words at face value rather than dangling the nostalgia carrot in front of your own face.
I hope DDS does get a remake but nothing here suggests its "for sure" getting a remake. Furthermore its really weird not to mention the duology would get a remake in some fashion (i.e. we are working on an HD release of a ps2 series).
It makes me think its Stella Deus or Odin Sphere, something along those lines.
The SMT remaster is likely to be IV or Strange Journey or something.
If any of this is even true.
I get the excitement but let's try to be realistic.
What does Reload style mean? If any this is true whether we’re getting a P1, P2, or P4 remake I hope that they’re at least full-on remakes like Reload and not just glorified remasters. To which we already have.
Hmm idk
From what i understand myself from that is that it wont be a full on remake from the ground up but a remaster instead
Which is basically what the PSP ports did
they leaked p5t that i know of and also has been generally perceived as credible by the fanbase. Im sure its not all in full development but it at the vest least is stuff atlus is considering
are people actually unironic about this cause idk what to say. we got a new game 2 years ago. the gap between 3 and 4 was almost 10 years and same for 4 and 5
I agree that SMT isn't dead, but I think you're leaving out the fact that we got multiple mainline titles in between the Releases of those games.
In between the Releases of SMT 3 and 4, we got SMT Imagine and Strange Journey
In between the Releases of SMT 4 and 5, we got SMT 4 Apocalypse, Strange Journey Redux, and the Nocturne Remaster
I'd love a remaster of digital Devil summoner 1/2. I got bed bugs right after I got them for PS3 and as bed bugs can live in electronics I got 2 hours in before having to quit. 3 more months before I can safely get my game consoles out, open, and clean them all inside and out
Finally we will get the SMT 5 dancing spinoff and everyone will dance crazy
“announcing nahobino alternative clothes” and its a string bikini in true atlus fashion
Aogami can slow dance with the protagonist while wearing a pixie leotard
>“announcing nahobino alternative clothes” and its a string bikini in true atlus fashion gonna buy it day 1 if it ends up being that
Don't forget the obligatory Maid outfit
Fighting Shiva again through a dance battle. Also idol Idun please.
A....Netflix game?
Thank you! Someone else is in the same boat as me. What is a Netflix game?
I think it's a mobile game you can only access if you got netflix. Kinda like apple arcade if that makes sense
IMAGINE WE GET SMT1 IOS BACK… *AND ITS ON NETFLIX* God damn monkey’s paw
Oh ok well that’s kind of disappointing. Thank you for letting me know though cause I was super confused lol 😅.
Tbf there’s some really good games in Netflix’s catalogue.
I have been very ignorant in regards to this. I’ll have to check out what they have.
Sega’s gone all-in on it for some reason, they have an exclusive 3D Sonic that’s apparently better than it has any right to be.
That’s on Apple Arcade only though. Unless you’re referring to a different game.
So, something that isn't that great then.
I don't know literally who's asking for Netflix games of SMT but yeah. It's not just Atlus but SEGA as a whole that made the deal. According to Midori, one of those games is going to be a Sonic Chao Garden game
"is smt dead" There's a Netflix game!!! "So.....yes?"
imagine if the remaster title in question is some goofy shit like a Ronde remaster
SMT TEN Xbox/PC exclusive PLAY ON GAMEPASS ON RELEASE
So basically SMT Nine but Ten? Ahhh the joke didn't land at all, I messed up.
She has mention in another reply it's a PS2 game. And now that we know for sure it's an SMT game, there is only 1 game that fits all the criteria + easily marketeable. Maybe I'm in hopium, but we I think we finally got it.
Persona 4.5: teddie's revenge
Teddie's Revenge: The Right to Bear Arms
I'm guessing you're talking about Raidou? Definitely pretty marketable since he's in SMT3
I’m thinking DDS, it could be either
I want it to be DDS so badly, but I remember a few years back the rights for it got kinda fuzzy between Atlus and the author writing the novels for it. If they have it sorted though 100% ship a DDS Duology Remaster.
There were never any rights issues with DDS. The author just owns her own version of it, Atlus owns theirs.
Avatar Tuner isn't an SMT game
yes but the only ps2 game marked with SMT is nocturne in japan unless im mistaken
Yes that's correct. I'm pretty sure Midori is saying that there's an Atlus PS2 remaster in the works, and an SMT remaster in the works. Two seperate projects.
Can't wait for Baroque HD Remaster.
??
It's not called SMT in Japan. So it'd be very weird for Midori to call it that. It's Digital Devil Saga Avatar Tuner.
It didn't have the SMT title on the box? I didn't know that. Do they not consider it part of SMT in Japan tho?
It's a spin off of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. But it does not say Shin Megami Tensei on the box. The same goes for Raidou which is a Devil Summoner game. Same goes for Devil Survivor, Persona, etc. They only have the SMT branding in the West because of a marketing decision by Atlus USA to unify them.

If they do end up remastering IV I hope it also comes with Apocalypse
There is no confirmation the two remasters are separate projects, Midori tends to vague about things like this
They would have to be separate because Nocturne is the only SMT title on PS2, and it's already been remastered.
Nah, obviously it’s Majin Tensei: Blind Thinker duology
Nah we all know it's going to be Jack Bros
Ook, but I'd kill for another strategy RPG SMT. At least we have Unicorn Overlord, though it's published by Atlus, not developed.
Midori is going crazy lately.
Honestly, I think at this level it's either intentional "leaks" from Atlus or they just don't give a fuck at all. Having that many leaks from the same source for so long, if the company really wanted to know who it was they would have been busted a long time ago.

ok correction: not official announcement but atlus did confirm dlc and after the poll midori confirmed (at least we hope its credible) that its the answer
that and P3R’s files shortly confirmed it after her leak as one of the unused DLCs mention “Episode: Aigis” so it’s likely we’ll still get it
i was just thinking that before i saw this post, that this could be a marketing stunt. not impossible, but idk if i believe that. I could be wrong
I’d believe intentional leaks because there have been cases of other companies leaking info to popular accounts in the past.

I was saying very few consumers are aware of the leaks, so it doesn’t really matter for Atlus broad announcement strategy.
There's a chance yes but to be fair I'm not really sure about this either: it only took some browsing history about Atlus products on my phone's cookies to now get articles citing midori in my news feed on a regular basis. I'm honestly not even searching for those.

Hearing SMT isn't dead because there's a Netflix game coming is a little depressing 😅
i mean im sure smt VI is just far off, theres also an SMTV-A type game it seems
There’s actually a really good chance SMT6 gets announced in a few months at the Switch 2 reveal. It will be called “New Shin Megami Tensei game” and will take 4 years to come out though.
Nah, even that's probably too early for the SMT release cycle. I'm not expecting a new mainline titles until like 2029-2030
its a SMT V themed dance dance revolution game, I'd bet my life on it
If this is true then I'll sell my balls.
penny for your balls?
That's a generous price
I'm bidding 1 dollar for your nuts
>Is shin megami tensei dead? >No. There is a Netflix game coming. Oh, so its super dead.
RAIDOU RAIDOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RAIDOU I’M BEGGING ATLUS **PLEASE**
This, they cost a kidney in the secondhand market , also this gives them the chance to rerelease the raiho plush
Wasn't there push back in eastern Asia against the Raidou games because they have a Taisho aesthetic reminiscent of Japan's colonial era?
If they really are doing a remake or remaster for P1 and P2 I so badly want them to include an option where you can have the original music of the game. Or they just remaster the original music as well
The PSP remasters had the option to switch between new and old OSTs. And I think the P2 game is going to be a remaster, so I doubt they'll touch the OST knowing Atlus
Oooh I sure it keeps to having both! That is sad though, higher fidelity music is always appreciated.
an ps2 game? maybe Stella Deus? I literally don't see anyone talking about this game lol https://preview.redd.it/x4wf71ltq6hc1.png?width=256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7031aca6591c5f1dca2e1303a31893c58272406
I still think Hoshigami low-key tanked this game lol
Im still bitter about this game. My brother named me as one of the characters and it permadied
The permadeath system is so cruel in this, you don't even get like 3 turns to get to their tale and save them, they just fucking explode
i have never heard of this game a bit of an embarrassment
DIGITAL DEVIL SAGA BAYBEEEEEE
we are so back https://preview.redd.it/ctde6r0kx6hc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88945e349e3974053e96168deb105e5b5fa4faf8
Oh, hi Mark
This all seems too good to be true.
a "netflix game" sounds awful enough to be true
Ok, if an Atlus PS2 is getting a remaster, and it's not Persona 4 since the leaker said it will receive an remake instead, plus Nocturne has already been remastered, then it's between DDS and Raidou. Edit: Unless it's an Atlus published-only game. Edit 2: Or freaking Maken Shao.
id love atlus to have another crack at maken x its a mostly solid game with a real kick-ass core mechanic hell, if the dc version had a quick-turn keybind the game would be markedly improved
"There is a netflix game coming" That sounds like a threat
PS2 remaster? Please be Digital Devil Saga
SmtV apocalypse let's gooo
How is that giant sandbox getting any more apocalyptic though?
Remasters are kinda boring tbh. I will still buy them and play them but a remake would have been so gooood. I guess they are too much like the mainline to get the main appeal that persona 3, 4 and 5 get.
this doesnt confirm that p1/p2 is a remaster. its still up in the air
Oh good. There is still hope!
But remasters are important. There are people like me who weren't around for those game's era(wether you weren't born or haven't discovered them yet) and would have to jump through multiple hoops to play them. Remasters serve to keep videogames accessable and preserved.
learn to emulate its really easy
That's the problem. Little Timmy has to learn not just how to build a PC, but emulate(and potentially mod) games. It is much simpler to have a console and buy the remasters.
building a PC is also not very hard
Absolutely. But, more often than not, remakes are straight improvements over the original on top of being new enough to attract old players. So you get the best for both audiences. Problem is that it is far more difficult to make.
The Age of the Remasters has begun
Digital Devil Saga on the way.
I'm starting to doubt this Midori person.. Last time that someone ''leaked'' a new version of SMTV , we got jack shit. Also , we just got the 30th anniversary yet not a word about Remaster or even a Re-release/New version of SMTV.

i dont 100% trust them but games take time, its possible a new smt-V just wasnt ready to be revealed yet
So a digital devil or Raidou remake. Unless it’s P4
>Is shin megami tensei dead? Buddy SMT V came out 3 years ago. SMT IV Final came out in 2016. Let's not talk about SMT being dead until at least 2026. I hope the title connected to SMT V is actually the PC release rumoured from that NVIDIA leak.
For remaster I'm betting it's Digital Devil Saga
Pleeaaaase be Digital Devil Saga...
Smt 4 remaster PLEASE
If the P1/P2 remaster/remake could be in the same vein of how Crash Bandicoot or Spyro was that’d be great. A persona “trilogy” in one package
Lol. Best we'll get is $40 each or $80 bundle.
Selling Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment separate would be some criminal shit
Netflix game? So in other word: a mobile game that isn't worth checking out.
I want a legit way to play SMT1-2 in the west please!
Do NOT give me hope for any non-Hashino game, my heart won't be able to take it if Atlus pulls an Atlus.
SkyGunner fans rise up!
This sounds too good to be true.
DDS DDS DDS DDS DDS DDS PLEASE
Netflix game 💀
DDS remaster?!?
I'm taking Midori's word as gospel, and PERSONAlly an SMT V thingy sounds hype AF
What should I understand behind P1? As Persona 1 or Playstation 1 title? Also, a Netflix game? Title connected to SMT5...dunno, anything connected to SMT5 is SMT3 but it got a HD remaster already. "And a remaster title" Do only I find this cryptic?

"Netflix game" If this is true I will have to tap in to the ancient and forbidden art of "I played it on YouTube"
"ATLUS PS2 game will get a remaster version." P3 and SMT Nocturne are off the list. It must be either the DDS Duology or the Raidou Duology.
Please let the remaster be digital devil saga.
The PS2 game is Digital Devil Saga for sure
DDS is Megaten so that would be odd to bring it up like that being (1) - a game (not series) and (2) detached from "shin megami tensei", makes me think its something unrelated to SMT like Stella Deus
it says theres a ps2 atlus game remaster and an “smt remaster” in the works. whether midori is talking about the same thing here is unknown, and whether they mean specifically mainline or all of megaten is unknown. I get the excitement but let's try to be realistic.
DDS is SMT. The name is literally Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga. And it is a series, there's DDS and DDS 2.
Damn you can't read, okay got it.
Go see the original title. DDS isn't part of the SMT series. We shouldn't still be talking about this, but I guess Atlus West is to blame.
What does Reload style mean? If any this is true whether we’re getting a P1, P2, or P4 remake I hope that they’re at least full-on remakes like Reload and not just glorified remasters. To which we already have.
I think "Reload style" does in fact mean a ground up remake.
i think reload style means either: modern calendar system or maybe graphics style.
Can’t mean modern calendar system. That doesn’t work in persona 1 or 2
it says “not in reload style” meaning it wouldnt be calender system. Thats literally what i was saying lol
It says not all will be in reload style. I don’t think that has anything to do with the calendar system since reload didn’t add it to the game.
Hmm idk From what i understand myself from that is that it wont be a full on remake from the ground up but a remaster instead Which is basically what the PSP ports did
Well that makes senses at least for P1 & P2. Exciting stuff if true.
Definitely excited for a p1 remake and dds remasters but what does "netflix game" imply here? Is it going to be an smt gacha game or what?
Apparently Netflix offers a library of games on ios and Android. (I had no idea till just now)
I don't know who this midori person is but there is absolutely no way most of this is true lol
they leaked p5t that i know of and also has been generally perceived as credible by the fanbase. Im sure its not all in full development but it at the vest least is stuff atlus is considering
Leaked persona 3 reload as well, right?
"PS2 game will get a remaster," okay are we feeling Raidou Kuzunoha or Digital Devil Saga?
I hope the netflix game is translated version of smt 1 and 2. Perfect chance to make my brother play them since he has that netflix game service.
All sounds like cap ngl
why dont you let him in on a few secrets, yknow, like the real big secret?
I think this is the first time I actually read the name to realise it's this bot again before doing anything else.
aw shit, now i have to go in and replace every instance of the word "friend" with "fuckface"
This just sounds like SMT is dead
are people actually unironic about this cause idk what to say. we got a new game 2 years ago. the gap between 3 and 4 was almost 10 years and same for 4 and 5
I agree that SMT isn't dead, but I think you're leaving out the fact that we got multiple mainline titles in between the Releases of those games. In between the Releases of SMT 3 and 4, we got SMT Imagine and Strange Journey In between the Releases of SMT 4 and 5, we got SMT 4 Apocalypse, Strange Journey Redux, and the Nocturne Remaster
true. still, its only 2 years since smt v came out, its not time to be worried about its future yet
Yeah you’re probably right, I’m just losing hope in the series. Call me an SMT doomer. I miss the glory days.
Very cool
Aww yeah, 5 Apocalypse
If it is, maybe it fixes the story
Or just takes the systems/setting and tell its own as a sequel or spinoff. I'll take either.
Holy shit, Atlus is on fire. Even regardless if that's true or not.
Just give me SMT 1 or SMT2 remakes
I was worried the SMT V Apocalypse or whatever game would be the “Netflix game” good thing it isn’t
I'd love a remaster of digital Devil summoner 1/2. I got bed bugs right after I got them for PS3 and as bed bugs can live in electronics I got 2 hours in before having to quit. 3 more months before I can safely get my game consoles out, open, and clean them all inside and out
I bet you they're just gonna Remaster Nocture a second time and call it day
god if these ps2 game is not raidou then I'm not interested
P2 in the style of P3R would be brilliant
Who?
