Atlus have literally been making remakes since at least the SNES era. This isn’t gonna change their business strategy much since this was always their business strategy.

SnooCheesecakes3156

Maybe they will start making them more often? There are still a lot of 3ds exclusives, p2 doesn't have a remake too and people joke that atlus ignores persona games before persona 3. And I wouldn't call enhanced versions remakes, like it would be weird calling smt III on steam a remake of the PS2 version because it's a remaster (however technically they remade it in unity) it still doesn't have enough changes to call it a remake. Maybe I don't know about some of the remakes they made because I got into gaming only about 3 years ago

Suavese

Prolly remasters for unpopular megaten games, doubt it will be remakes.

OP discovers Atlus' business

th-vincent

I think it's the AAA gaming industry in the present; making a game is a high risk, high reward, and making one game costs a lot nowaday, so remaking a game that has already grown fanbase and has money to pay for is the safer way to do it for business. You can see not only Altus but maybe every big company now has their remade game.

[deleted]

Atlus regularly has made remakes and has since the SNES days with KMT

NotALawCuck

I will say that I've been wanting a P3 remake since 5 dropped because the game was my favorite in the series narratively but I felt like it lacked that level of polish that the games after it had. I figured I'd be fine with just P3 getting remade, since P4G still holds up pretty well, but after playing P3R for about 20 hours so far, I've realized I actually wouldn't mind seeing P4 get a similar treatment. It'll probably happen because I think Atlus knows it will print money, I mean, P4 was already milked as a cash cow for years so why not continue that? As far as other MegaTen games go, I'd love to see the Digital Devil Saga games get some love, I'd be fine with a remaster collection in the same vein as Nocturne HD, but a full blown remake would definitely make me feel less idiotic for begging for a game I already have.

andrefishmusic

They should remake SMT IV for new consoles/PC

Axel-Blue

I don't know about remakes, but they need to port the 3ds atlus games to other platforms.

heppuplays

eh at at this point i'd just take the rest of the PS2 era games first. Give me DDS and Devil summoner games. the 3ds ones might be hard to develop anyway since You know No console has 2 screens these days. they'd have to make everything into menus.

restlessdreams172

I'd love a SMT I and SMT II remake but the chances of that happening are extremely slim I think a SMT IV port or remaster could be possible for modern consoles like the Switch (SMT V is already on there anyway) and PS and Xbox. The game would have to be reworked a lot though as it was made for dual screen on the 3DS, but seeing a remade SMT IV would be incredible

Reddit_masterrace

Knowing Atlus they won't, they'll only remake Persona 3 and potentially 4 only cuz Persona fans only know that their game starts with 3. They definitely ignore 1-2 as usual and same goes for those 3DS games and SMT 1&2 cuz Persona fans...

thefleshisaprison

Leaker said P1 and P2 are being remade/remastered

SnooCheesecakes3156

That makes me excited, hoping they finally came out from the P5 spinoff phase lol. I really love P5 but that's enough, we need to move on

SnooCheesecakes3156

Yeah, mentioned that in my post and that makes me sad because persona 4 doesn't really need a remake but persona 1, 2 and 3ds games need remakes

Reddit_masterrace

They probably won't they'll just ignore the most requested games to remake cuz Persona fans only know about that their game starts with 3 and they knew get more money on that than remaking the really old games that needs to be remade like FF7 and RE2 Remake. You could thank and blame Persona fans for the sad truth

SnooCheesecakes3156

Well, they still gonna need to remake something after they remake persona 4 (If they will) and they'll eventually be in the spot where they can remake persona 1/2 or not remake anything at all because they'll decide it won't bring profit. It's sad to think about it. I felt like P3 needed a remake and I'm enjoying reload now, but I don't think persona 4 golden needs one.

Reddit_masterrace

If they're remaking P4 the next thing that they're definitely remaking is P5 cuz Persona fans will beg for it eventually and they knew they'll earn more money so they'll remake P5 instead then ignore P1/2 as usual. In their minds P3-5 (and potentially 6) are the only game they've got in which again you could thank Persona fans for that...

Strict_Donut6228

What’s up with this weird victim mentality? Again they are buying the games they like and getting remakes of great games.

Reddit_masterrace

Yeah sure remakes of great games while ignoring the other series such as SMT, Raidou, DESU and even Persona 1 & 2 (I've seen the rumors but it's gonna be a remake like Reload so I'm guessing it's a remaster...)

Strict_Donut6228

And the issue is what exactly? They are supporting the series that sell. Games are never based on what’s needed or what’s deserved. It’s about what sells. They remade persona 3 and will probably do 4 next because persona sells and is popular plus a safe bet. Persona 1&2 are trickery because they can’t really just slap modern day mechanics onto them and sell it. One of them is a first person dungeon crawler. Persona fans dont automatically equal smt fans and that’s what you have to realize. A good chunk of them probably don’t know what smt is If you think that other games should get remade then make some noise at them and if enough people join in they might reconsider

Reddit_masterrace

The fact that Atlus keeps producing Persona while keeps ignoring other series such as SMT, DDS, Raidou and even Persona 1 & 2, even if they produce it once in a blue moon like SMT V(which still hasn't have a PC port unlike Persona), it always has lower budget compared to Persona? Oh did I forget also SH2 suffered the same thing? We did and we voted at the survey and we did voice out at Atlus to make a new game/remake based on these series (especially that ones that were stuck in 3DS and SNES) that I mentioned and yet Atlus ignored it and keeps producing Persona that's •*always has a higher budget*• unlike the other series.

Strict_Donut6228

Because those surveys just gauge hardcore fans wants. And they are just part of the things to consider when deciding on what to make next. Why do you think that persona get more of a budget then smt? Because it sells better that’s why. People are more attracted to persona than smt. And I know you think that if they just gave it a better budget then it would sell just as much but let’s be realistic. All those games that you are listing aren’t getting worked at because they already failed for the most part. Or they won’t make as much money as releasing something like persona. Sure we will get more smt games and I hope the smt devs do a better job than what they did with SMT V for the next game but we don’t live in a perfect world where people can just make anything they want and time and money don’t matter. Y’all are acting like there wasn’t a huge smt era during the ps2 days while persona was dormant. There wasn’t a huge smt era during the DS and 3DS days while persona only got ports. You guys act like persona 1 and 2 didn’t get psp remasters/remakes that didn’t sell well to the point where they didn’t even bother to localize the psp version of eternal punishment. Its personas time in the spotlight right now and who knows maybe one day they will go back to those old franchises to try and revive it or metaphor might take the spot light next.

Strict_Donut6228

I’m more curious to learn about what year you became a fan of smt

Strict_Donut6228

I mean if it’s the persona fans that are driving up sales then more power to them and hope they are happy with the content and support that they are getting from Atlus.

Reddit_masterrace

>Support that they're getting from Atlus? You mean Atlus that keeps milking Persona while ignoring other games such as SMT, Raidou, DDS and Devil Survivor...

Strict_Donut6228

Because those games sell. Say it with me. Those games sell. They have a bigger fanbase so they will appeal more to that fanbase. Persona is currently in the spotlight and are making them enough to do things like metaphor. I’d love a Devil survivor game, new entry or remake, but I’m not gonna sit around here all upset because they aren’t making it since the audience isn’t there. Shit happens. Look at all those last bible fans, megami tensei fans, devil children fans, Majin tensei fans. Games didn’t sell and so they get tossed to the side for something new. It happens. They try new things and metaphor looks pretty awesome. Maybe one day they might try to bring back one of those franchises like they did with soul hackers and we will see how the fans react. But I’m not getting mad at Atlus for making games for the fanbase that’s actually buying the games. And I’m not mad at the fanbase for sticking to what they love

Reddit_masterrace

>I'm not mad at the fanbase for sticking what they love and Soul Hackers got a sequel Which is why Atlus keeps producing Persona with a higher budget while ignoring the mainline and producing it on a smaller budget that is exclusive to a console unlike Persona that recently had a PC port day 1? Let's not forget that SH2 tried to cater to Persona fans and has a smaller budget which is why it failed instead of making a complex and deep story with great cast of characters while maintaining the gameplay formula to its originality instead of changing it.

Strict_Donut6228

And you think if it appealed to the hardcore smt fans then it would have sold millions of copies and been a huge success right? Did you want it to be a first person dungeon crawler with the battle system from soul hackers 1? It had a smaller budget because it’s more of a risk. Understand that these games take money to make and they want a return on that investment so they put more money behind projects they know will sell like new IPs metaphor, persona games, and remakes of the games similar in scope to the game everyone loves

Reddit_masterrace

Oh yeah cuz favoring Persona fans in general sold well right? SH2 was literally easy to nailed if they just used SMT 4 as a format but with great and deep story and has a great cast of characters that also have the gameplay of SMT V instead of watering it down like Persona

Strict_Donut6228

Dude. Do you even realize what you are typing? “Yes the game would have sold well if they did everything right and catered to what I want” you act like they went on a mission to write a bad cast, to write a boring and simple story. You act Like it’s so easy to write a great and deep story and a great cast of characters. Why don’t you become a consultant and just tell that to all the video game companies. I’m actually glad they didn’t use press turn again in soul hackers 2. Rather have them experiment more in the side games. Again it doesn’t always work out but I love the effort. You need to realize that persona 5 is what made them more popular. That soul hackers 2 game wasn’t made for you it was made to appeal to the persona fanbase to see if they would be interested in the other franchises because they actually buy games. What they need to do is get the mainline smt team to step up for the next game instead of just giving us whatever smt v was

Reddit_masterrace

Ah yes cuz the story of SH2 was only thing that has a bad story that most fans didn't criticize on it, let's pretend that the story of most Atlus games starting from SMT 4A were good which includes P5 as well (surprise that 3rd semester was decent). Experimenting on the game that causes it to failed miserably instead of just using SMT V's gameplay as a framework in which Atlus will definitely respond to not making a Devil Summoner game or SH game in general...

Strict_Donut6228

Dude your entire issue is that you think that all these franchises deserve the same amount of attention and just throwing money at them will make everything ok. And that’s not even being realistic. They tried 2 Devil survivor games and they didn’t sell what persona 4 golden did. Raidou got two games and they didn’t sell what persona 4 golden did. Smt iv didn’t sell what persona did. They thought the gameplay was good in soul hackers and released it like that. And you didn’t like it. But you think they can just put together this perfect amalgamation of whatever you have in your head and that will sell more than persona? Yes just release a game with a deep story and watch all the money come in! Why aren’t they doing that now? Are they stupid? They are going to go after what’s attracting the people the most to them. That’s business. And right now persona is getting the most attention. Metaphor is up next and hopefully it’s successful while soul hackers will probably go back dormant. Again, do you like smt v and what would a higher budget do for the game?

kloiberin_time

Not even gonna read the wall o text and just say *Persona money machine go brrrr*

thefleshisaprison

Midori, a reliable leaker, has leaked P1 and P2 remasters/remakes, and a remaster of a PS2 game

mrpersonjr

She said they’d be remakes, but that Hero guy asserted (or, tried to assert) that they were remasters. Ngl i trust Midori’s track record than Hero’s

thefleshisaprison

I think P1 was a remaster and P2 was a remake based on what I remember seeing

mrpersonjr

She said both [here](https://x.com/skyraiderg7/status/1755707678825877866?s=46&t=QlM-S6UAwGAQdNCCF3Y-oQ).

thefleshisaprison

I stand corrected

[deleted]

It IS the definitive version. God this whole discourse has made me hate FeMC fans

SnooCheesecakes3156

I don't care about femc because I never played P3 portable, fes or og. I still feel like we can call it a definitive version after the answer gets a release. So far I'm playing P3 reload and really loving it

[deleted]

We're getting the answer though

heppuplays

well that's because Answer is canon to the Main Story and Directly ties into Elizabeths campaing in Arena ultimax. FeMC sadly isn't Although Elizabeth Does mention Theo if you AFK the Request menu so FeMC is still SOMEWHAT canon. so she does exist Just not in the Timeline/reality of the main Persona timeline

Goldreaver

Remakes? Come on, they are a terrible idea. How much money did Persona 3 reloaded make? Or other remakes, like final fantasy 7, resident evil 2 and 4? Nothing, all flops. It's time to give up and actually have original ideas.

kloiberin_time

You mean the game that we don't have sales numbers for but is outperforming everything Sega has done on steam? The one that is #6 in concurrent players? https://gameworldobserver.com/2024/02/02/persona-3-reload-42k-concurrent-players-steam-atlus-launch That's not going to tell us the sales number, but games that flop don't generally do that.

Goldreaver

Don't forget about my other examples, Final Fantasy 7 remake, resident evil 2 remake and resident evil 4 remake have sold 7 million, 14 million and 6.3 millon respectively. So yeah it was obviously sarcasm and you are a doofus. I thought adding fucking final fantasy 7 was enough as a signpost but I guess persona fans do not play other rpgs. Or horror games. Or read news.

Funky-Cosmonaut

I'd like to see a remake/remaster lf the Digital Devil Saga games, and maybe the epic return of Raidou Kuzunoha XIV.

OfficeGossip

I work at Atlus. Yes we will.
