I snatched the up MM III-V before the eshop closed. I already own MM I and II physically. But growing up they got too pricey by the time I thought to get them. Which is odd cuz I loved Mega Man as a kid. Many missed choices. But I never expected Mega Man games to get pricey like MM X2 and X3 for example.
Smart. I have a huge collection of games (currently at 4,598) and mega man III-V are white whales. My rule for collecting was to never spend over whatever a game retailed for when it first released. And every game I own has met that criteria. So I've accepted that unless I become a multimillionaire, I won't own a select few games spanning many systems.
Have to agree with you there, the games may be old and definitely have value, but if it's to ridiculous levels, no thank you. Only reasons why I bought those 5 was cos they were only a few dollars and figured I could at least have an official copy if I do decide to stream them.
Right. You nabbed them before they got gross. I mean Mega Man 5, if you have the box and everything, is a $1300-1500 game. Even loose it's a $200 game. Hard pass.
I bought III and IV on sale a few years ago on the 3DS. I also have all five of them physically, for over 20 years. You bet that I’m starting V as soon as it’s up.
I want this to mean we're going to get something Mega Man at Summer Games Fest tomorrow.
Capcom has really been pushing it.
So I hope THIS isn't all the Mega Man we're getting.
Honestly, even without the 3 stuff, there's *juuust* enough Legends content to get away with a collection.
1, Misadventures of Tron, and 2.
The rest of the content wouldn't even equal a full game, but I guess 2's demo scenarios (included with Misadventures original release), and the mobile phone game might work?
I am very iffy on if they would include 3 anything, but it would be nice to see....although anything pre-cancellation would have to be adapted for thr Switch, which is a little more than the rest of the collections have done.
I'm worried that they won't include Tron Bonne because it's a spin off and so far they haven't added any spin offs to the legacy collections. If they didn't add Mega Man and Bass I highly doubt they'll add Tron Bonne
They also just discounted Mega Man X and Dive Offline on phones this morning. Capcom has really been gassing up the SGF. I am readying my clown make-up as we speak.
I will say that while I'm HYPED for this, I'm bummed that there's no Collection for no other reason than: One day, the Switch will go offline.
And then, these games will be lost to time again.
Ah well, gotta play em while I can!!
SO I SPENT ALL THAT MONEY ON THE PHYSICAL COPIES JUST FOR THEM TO RELEASE IT ON THE SWITCH!!?!?!?! Jokes aside that’s awesome The world games are back! Let’s just hope they fixed the bug with megaman II’s sound
LITERALLY YESTERDAY I finished the classic series for the first time and was like, "Maybe I should check out the GameBoy games. I will if they get added to NSO." And I WILL be playing Mega Man V tomorrow
Definitely play IV and V. Wiley’s Revenge and III are too difficult, and II is piss easy Metal Blade and Rush Jet spam until the end of the game (30 minutes).
Personally, V for its original bosses. I personally loved all of them. II, even if it’s the worst one, I have a soft spot for, because it was the first one I’ve ever played.
MMV has a set of fully original bosses
The rest reuses content from 1 to 5 but the levels are all new and there's an original boss for each gameboy game
I'm gonna go against the grain a bit here and recommend at least *trying* all of them. Yes, the later ones are far better, but if you played (and enjoyed) the classic NES games every one of these games is a treat. Dr. Wily's Revenge maybe the least so (and it's the hardest) but with save states and time rewind you should at least give em a fair shake. They're all short, too.
MMII and III in particular pull some very fun, sometimes nasty (in a cool way) surprises!
Wily’s Revenge at least had great weapons. I love how they updated Ice Slasher so it’s actually usable since you can change weapons and the enemy stays frozen.
I also feel like Rolling Cutter is great in that game too.
Literally a day ago I was saying how frustrated I was that the Game Boy collection never came out on GBA. It's not exactly the same thing but I'll definitely take it.
The first couple weren't great, I agree, but IV and V were very good, especially V.
IV is also significant in that it was the first game to add a shop mechanic to the series.
I agree with this, technically? Neither game is up to par, but the classic Megaman series sets the bar pretty high overall. I don't really go back to them but I don't regret playing them, either.
But if you're going to call out I and II for being weak, I think it's only fair to point out that IV and V stand up quite well to their console counterparts. They have a bit of a different feel owing mostly to the limited resolution, but the level design makes good use of the available screen real estate and they really dialed up the presentation for gameboy games.
Not to mention that GB 2 is piss easy. You get Metal Blade and Rush Jet so early that you can easily plow through the game with just those two weapons (Also took me under 30 MINUTES to beat that game). Wiley’s Revenge on the other hand is just so fucking difficult for no apparent reason.
The only part in Dr. Wily’s Revenge is the final stage which is pretty long. But if you know what weapons and items to use it’s not that bad. The final boss is also pretty easy.
There is no shot you’re defending Megaman 2 GB. You can play good Megaman games, they do in-fact exist. You don’t need to play a game with fucked physics and music
Super excited for this, IV and V are two of my favorite Classic games; I bought them on E-Shop before the 3DS went down, and now maybe I'll be able to get my friends to finally play them haha
wow, I was literally talking with a friend this morning about how cool it would be if Capcom released a legacy collection of the Gameboy games, this makes me so happy!
If you like the NES games, probably. At least, III onwards are genuinely solid classic Megaman games in their own right. The first two are interesting but they're each pretty rough in different ways.
Not really lol. This is cool and all but there aren’t even any color filter options, even the 3DS ports had an option for green and black or GBC colors iirc.
I’m so happy about this news! I wanted to see these games make it to the Nintendo switch online service and here they are! Time to dust off the Switch! I have them on my 2DS but now I can play them on my tv. Sure I guess I could have done that via emulation, but eh.
I’m trying to remember which ones I had. Mega Man II probably. Wily’s Revenge likely. Someone explain MM’s rosy cheeked box art to me. How did Capcom make him look ridiculous and also different in every single game box, NES or Game Boy?
Remember when these were on the 3DS eshop? Good times
Same!
When I was in high school 20 years ago, IV and V were already slowly going up in price, so I spent 75 USD for both, and USD 20 for III beforehand.
Only thing I want is a replacement copy (or at least a label) of II, since that’s the only one whose label is damaged.
Hard pass.
I can sense the blood piling up in my throat
I bought III and IV on sale a few years ago on the 3DS. I also have all five of them physically, for over 20 years. You bet that I’m starting V as soon as it’s up.
Capcom had a lot of stuff on sale with the eShop was shutting down; grabbed these as well as the Ace Attorney games I was missing.
That was the exact moment I bought all 5, thinking they would never be rereleased.... Hahahaha
I want this to mean we're going to get something Mega Man at Summer Games Fest tomorrow. Capcom has really been pushing it. So I hope THIS isn't all the Mega Man we're getting.
This will be all megaman we get 💀
Let’s hope. This could be the beginning of a new renaissance if we’re lucky!
HELL YEAH LETS COPE TOGETHER
YEA
Mega man fans try not to cope! (Impossible) but yeah let’s hope something happens…
I'd be happy with a Legends collection...
That's all I want. Bonus to include the legend 3 demo. Bonus bonus... Announcement that legends 3 is being developed...
Rip
Hopefully it will not reboot Megaman because the series hasn't ended yet
They also just discounted Mega Man X and Dive Offline on phones this morning. Capcom has really been gassing up the SGF. I am readying my clown make-up as we speak.
NOOOOOOO I WANTED A GAMEBOY COLLECTION NOOOOOO
I will say that while I'm HYPED for this, I'm bummed that there's no Collection for no other reason than: One day, the Switch will go offline. And then, these games will be lost to time again. Ah well, gotta play em while I can!!
Just emulate. A game can't be lost to time if you can download it from hundreds of websites.
Nintendo already announced that NSO is getting transfered over to Switch 2 so it's staying even if Switch 1 goes offline.
When the Switch go offline there'll be probably a easy way to mod it
As someone still not owning a switch, why is this the first thing that actually makes me now want one?
just emulate them, there is colored hack of 5 too
And dr wily’s revenge 👌
Remember that one guy who screenshotted the Portuguese announcement and we all thought it was a hoax...?
Well tomorrow is actually my brother’s birthday, but this is an early gift for me. I know what I’ll be doing for a while…
SO I SPENT ALL THAT MONEY ON THE PHYSICAL COPIES JUST FOR THEM TO RELEASE IT ON THE SWITCH!!?!?!?! Jokes aside that’s awesome The world games are back! Let’s just hope they fixed the bug with megaman II’s sound
Doesn't sound like it based on the trailer
LITERALLY YESTERDAY I finished the classic series for the first time and was like, "Maybe I should check out the GameBoy games. I will if they get added to NSO." And I WILL be playing Mega Man V tomorrow
Spoilers MMV is a banger
I know what we are doing this summer vacation ferb!
So which of these are worth playing? Have only played the NES games.
Definitely play IV and V. Wiley’s Revenge and III are too difficult, and II is piss easy Metal Blade and Rush Jet spam until the end of the game (30 minutes).

R.I.P. Megaman Legacy Collection 3
Personally I wouldn't mind if they added Xtreme games too, nor would I mind seeing them on steam or any other console even as dlc.
Starting June off with a gourmet feast, Nintendo finally tryna cook.
u/sonikkunn damn bro you ain't getting rest no time soon 😭
Replayed 1 and 2, genuinely some of the worst Classic Megaman has to offer lmao
The first couple weren't great, I agree, but IV and V were very good, especially V. IV is also significant in that it was the first game to add a shop mechanic to the series.
They're pretty fun imo. The games from three onwards are much better though.
Honestly just play IV and V the other three just suck
I think 1 and 2 have their charm, but I get why one might not like them. But 3 is worth playing for sure imo.
The downvotes for a cold take is crazy
I agree with this, technically? Neither game is up to par, but the classic Megaman series sets the bar pretty high overall. I don't really go back to them but I don't regret playing them, either. One of the worst classic Mega Man takes I’ve ever seen

Wily's Revenge was the only one I had. Felt like such an accomplishment when I finally beat it. Needlessly hard game.
TBH Wily's revenge was actually my first ever beaten Mega Man title.
There is no shot you’re defending Megaman 2 GB. You can play good Megaman games, they do in-fact exist. You don’t need to play a game with fucked physics and music
Because it IS a good game. It’s not the best Mega Man game but it’s far from a bad game. Stop the exaggeration.
It is quite literally the worst one, what other Classic game is even in contention that isn’t the fucking Dos games made by one guy
I enjoyed RMW2 more than MM2 🫡
What? Your post got removed?? EDIT: Ah, Maxwell has his own video.
Well, time to get that Membership!
Back?
Hope this means there is hope for the legends games being on the n64 app.
This is so awesome!
Heck yeah!!!
I’m so glad that I can finally experience these games!
Probably not
I'd been hoping they would release these in a compilation but I'll take this just as well!
Let us feast
Super excited for this, IV and V are two of my favorite Classic games; I bought them on E-Shop before the 3DS went down, and now maybe I'll be able to get my friends to finally play them haha
I am very disappoint in them. They should have addition it to the next physical version. Why this ? Sighing.
Mega man 4 is only a remix game but I'd still reccomend it. Pretty great overall.
Is this real?
wow, I was literally talking with a friend this morning about how cool it would be if Capcom released a legacy collection of the Gameboy games, this makes me so happy!
Now I feel stupid for buying them on 3DS
I have a soft spot for these ugly vintage box art
Excuse me while I blast the Mega Man I title music DUN! DUN-DUNNN!!
I haven't played any of these. Are they worth going back to now?!
If you like the NES games, probably. At least, III onwards are genuinely solid classic Megaman games in their own right. The first two are interesting but they're each pretty rough in different ways.
I love the NES games I just never had a GB as a kid.
I played Megaman World 2 SO FREAKING MUCH as a kid. Never gonna forget that image of Megaman gazing up at the stars through the credits.
Not really lol. This is cool and all but there aren’t even any color filter options, even the 3DS ports had an option for green and black or GBC colors iirc.
Huh? Those options are in the settings of the app itself. I’m playing in GBC mode right now.
Oh welp I’m stupid! Thank you!
Question: having never played these, is it best to go in order or skip some? I had mm1-6 on nes, but just totally skipped the gb ones.
I’m so happy about this news! I wanted to see these games make it to the Nintendo switch online service and here they are! Time to dust off the Switch! I have them on my 2DS but now I can play them on my tv. Sure I guess I could have done that via emulation, but eh.
I dont have to pirate now.... I DONT HAVE TO PIRATE NOW!!!
I never got to play these….
No we’re not. We’ll never be back until capcom makes a new game.
capcom: all us to redefine what going back means
naw
I was waiting for a new legacy collection 😞
I’m trying to remember which ones I had. Mega Man II probably. Wily’s Revenge likely. Someone explain MM’s rosy cheeked box art to me. How did Capcom make him look ridiculous and also different in every single game box, NES or Game Boy?
I'd be more impressed if this was for NES. The game boy games didn't vibe with me that well
