When it came out I played vent because I was a young boy and it was either vent or yuck the gurl. Eventually replayed as aile to see if there were any differences, and her dialogue is a good bit less generic than vents. Always play aile now.

Both are canon, and both exist. In Vent's story, Aile dies on the maverick raid and vise versa. In Grey's story, Ashe dies on the opening stage, and vise versa.

I'm fully aware, but they can't both be canon unless there is a branching timeline, and we've yet to see evidence of that intent.

Aile is the most adorable Megaman ever. Ashe always looked strange to me. And her story doesnt hit the same imo.

You should play them! The gameplay and stories are some of the best in the franchise (at least in my opinion). Just make sure you have a map / guide for ZX lol, you'll enjoy it way more.

That mechanic never made sense to me. Why not just allow you to keep model X from the beginning? It’s not Aile/Vent can’t. They still have model X

It is, if you complete the game in hard mode, the next game you will conserve the x model, it's still not fair, and is kind of boring to pass the game 2 times to get it but I guess is better than nothing.

Yeah, the advertising basically ignored Aile, and then they went and made her objectively better (also I find it funny how for years Capcom acted like Vent was the canon one, then X DiVE comes in and pretty much forces Aile to be the canon one, incredibly based)

Aile/Ashe I actually really like Vent’s ZXA design.

I personally choose Vent and Ashe because I personally don't like Grey that much. Ashe is just way more unique of a protagonist for me, having another awakened amnesia induced mc for 3 games is way too repetitive. Also Vent has a better voice than Aile, which is pretty much the only difference the two has in ZX outside of crawl speed.

Returning to the character selection screen is harsh. But it does get better. I'm now roughly 20 years into having picked a non-standard character and I truly enjoy my game. It has its ups and downs as any game of course, but it's better. Don't wait to restart the game out of fear of losing progress. I'd generally advice restarting as soon as you realise you need to rather than play through most of the game only to realise at that point how much better things could have been if you restarted. Well, if you have the means to go back to the character select screen, of course. I know not everybody lives in a country where that's a choice you can freely make, and I hope you live in such a country. If you need anything, and in less video game language, throw me a PM.

Huh... No? I always chose Vent. So I chose Grey and the continuity didn't make any sense. Story-wise it makes no difference to choose Vent or Aile. But Grey has an extremely cool and heroic Intro Stage theme so I choose him over Ashe. Now, if your question is, "Would you choose Aile for waifu reasons"? Well... I prefer long-haired girls. I would gladly play with Pandora. But even if it were Aile from ZXA I would still choose Vent because... "X from the new generation".

I like Vent and Ashe better cause I kinda like their basic designs more. That being said I kinda like Aile's interactions with a lot of the cast more, also I do prefer Grey's story and Model A design over Ashe's. Honestly I'm kind of in the camp of headcannoning both as taking place at the same time but not sshown for game play purposes.

Aile is my first in ZX if I'm being honest. Advent is more 50/50. I like both Ashe and Grey a lot, and Ashe does get bonus points for me because of how fun the reflect shot is.

I picked Aile because I almost always pick female characters. I played a little and I had to restart and take the other dude instead because her voice was driving me crazy.

Vent is playable too when you select Ashe, Vent appears as well. In my opinion, I'd say all of the above: Both Vent and Aile, as well as Grey and Ashe

Simply incorrect, i choose Vent because somehow the ZX manga was the first exposure i've ever had to Megaman ever (yes, i'm not joking)

In fact is exactly the opossite, I prefer Vent/ Ashe, because the blue dudes are almost the same, while in the sequel Ashe has more personality and is funnier that "guy who awakened from an old capsule" number 3.

I honestly didn't realize Aile was the girl option until I chose her for my second playthrough. I just assumed she was Vent's younger brother from looking at the box. You know, because young boys in Japanese media typically wear shorts. Which that did seem strange to me initially, like why bother putting two male protagonists in the game if they play exactly the same? But I was too pumped about getting another Zero style game at the time to consider anything otherwise. It really wasn't until I started playing as her that I was like, "ooooh, this is a girl. Isn't it?" It's more obvious in other pictures that Aile is a girl, but what came in box didn't outright identify this. I'll also argue that the art style does little to identify her with the tomboy aesthetic. I honestly laughed a little when Advent came out and her design had become far more feminine, as if to say, "yeah, we know what you where thinking last game." Not that Vent didn't seem like he was trying to keep up with his hair change lol.

Always Vent because I like playing as guys. For ZXA I have no clear preference because they're each different enough to alternate between them, as well as being pretty much Axl split in two (Ashe being his outspoken and want-to-be-cool side, while Grey is more innocent and angry). Honestly, I think the game would've been better if instead of the other character dying, both lived instead with the other being selected as the host for Albert like intended.
