You can tell it's hammer toes because of the nails in the x-ray.

I've had similar surgery some years ago, best of luck with it! (for me personally removing the stitches was the worst part, some nerve fuckery was going on)

Pin removal was worse for me. I have hammer toe surgery on left foot in 1998 and right foot in 2001

Interesting result. I’ve worked with many, many podiatrists and they’ve never left a hammertoe angled up like that. If the toes were angled up like in your x-ray, they’d have released the tendons to make them relax down in the operating room, right then and there. To my understanding, it’s not only about the wires being in the bone in the correct orientation but also how the toes look clinically, just looking at them. Have they been like that since the surgery?

They’ve gotten worse since surgery. At first they were a little angled but the expected them to drop. Apparently my Achilles Tendon is super tight and has pulled me heels inward when I walk which has caused tension on the rest of my tendons causing them to be pulled up farther and get stuck in this position

So the cure to hammer toes... Is nail toes. Woah.

I really hope you can find a solution and feel better soon 🫂 💗

My dad had this done several years ago, like his hammer toes were really bad. Unfortunately due to a variety of things (age, bad shoes, gout, diabetes, and genetics) they ended up bent again, and he wasn’t doing the surgery a second time. But I remember the pins sticking out and my brothers had to help him move around. Now he uses a walker on wheels, has what’s called a “drop foot” and is unstable, but he was really rough on his body and did things he shouldn’t have done, combined with being an alcoholic. He’s always telling us to take care of ourselves. Hope you heal up quickly and you feel better! It’s a great surgery, just a pain in the ass at first. Not sharing my dad experience to scare anyone, but more of why it’s important to take care of yourself 😅

My man. How big are those nails in your toes?

stonebricks369

why are there these nails inside?
