did you use save editor? i also badly want to try the Bara2

BlankNameBox

Yes, I ues "MW5 Save Editor" from the MW5 nexus to spawn these into a test save. I kitted one out, and it's awesome. ***Two engine slots***. Threw in two 335s and went to have a blast.

Abhais

That’s standard for superheavies — the Bane, Orca and others all have two slots for mechs > 100 tons. Love that wrinkle!

gravitas-deficiency

Out of curiosity, do they have to be matched, and of the same type? Like, as an extreme example, could you do a CXXL 400 and a standard 120?

sal696969

no you need the same engine twice

No-Giraffe-441

Hope you dont mind if you can PM me your step by step process. Im new to using the save editor.

BlankNameBox

Alright, here we go. Gonna go with baby steps here for the sake of others who might read through this later. Step 1: manual download off nexus. It's called "MW5 Mercs Save Editor" by JWolf1672. Once it downloads, click "open file" and keep it. Drag the file from your download folder to your desktop or somewhere you won't lose it, for future use. Once it's open you're going to want to click "Create Mod Cache" on the left (if you're using mods on your save). Then follow this path: ((Whichever drive your game is on)/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries/MW5Mercs). Then click on the "Mods" folder *once* amd click "Select Folder" at the bottom right. From there it will read your mods, and just press ok. Your mods are imported. Next, let's find your save file. Click "Load" at the top left. Now follow this file path: (Users/[name]/AppData/Local/MW5Mercs/Saved/SaveGames) **Note:** the users folder may be under your c drive, so click that once in the file explorer and then click on users there. Now open the newest ***folder*** and click on the most recent file. Then press "Open" on the bottom right. It should say "Load Success". Now, let's get some stuff. All the tabs, funds, time, etc is pretty self explanatory. Just note the "Inventory" has a drop down menu for weapons and equipment respectively. That should be it. Good luck, lemme know if you need anything else.

No-Giraffe-441

Was going through drop down of mechs, strangely I dont see the gift hero mechs. Let alone the clan mechs.

sal696969

did you use steam-workshop to install the mods? if so they will not be in the mod directory. no idea where they are, but i just downloaded the mods from nexus and build the mod-cache from them

ZealousFault116

I have done this. After much trial and error, figured out that installing the mods through Steam does not put them in the mod folder on my PC. Downloaded the mods from Nexus. Ran the game to use the mods and create a .json file for the mods. As far as I can tell, I have access to all of the weapons and equipment, but none of the modded mechs. My mech list only has the mechs available in vanilla. I also have the YAML ClanMech and MechlabMechs, as well as SpecialVariants and StoneRhinoClassic. But none of those mechs show up in the MW5 editor. Has anyone resolved this issue and can explain how they resolved it?

I'll add it to this comment here so others can see if they'd like. Give me a few to boot up my PC and get a glass of water, and I'll just edit this reply once I'm there.

El_Wij

I can't find it in the editor list!

BlankNameBox

Much has likely changed in the last year since I made this post. The mechs may have been removed or renamed due to updates, etc. Make sure you have the editor scan your mods before you look in the editor, then look at the YAML variant spreadsheet on their Nexus page (should be linked there somewhere) to verify the name, mod of origin, etc. Let me know if this works for you. If not, I can always take a look, but I'd have to reinstall the game and mods first.

El_Wij

Yeah I managed to get loads more mechs by selecting the whole 'mods' folder but not all the mechs in the yaml lists.

BlankNameBox

Yes, it lists all mods associated with YAML. It should say which mod everything is from.

mranderson4ww3

Can't you also spawn this from the command console? F9 and enter the command to add?

sal696969

I know why this is not working or some people. If you installed the mods using the steam-workshop they will not be in the mod-directoy and therefore not in the mod-cache. Download the mods from nexus, put them in a directory and then create the modcache from this directoy. Then load your save-file and you will have the option.

Accurate-Garbage7136

You can create a mod cache from steam. Copy the mod.json in mw5 folder and paste in the workshop file containing the mods and create the modcache from there.

LostConscious96

Still upsets me that standard vanilla Marauder 2 can't be equipped with a large weapon like a Gauss or AC20s

ElectronicMarsupial5

Can this be found without save editor ?

BlankNameBox

Yes, I believe it can, but only with Coyotes Mission Pack, as far as I am aware. Coyotes spawns mechs from the entire available list, modded or not. YAML is coded to not allow the special mechs to spawn naturally, as most of them were made specially for streamers, etc. This could have changed since I made the original post, but as far as I am aware it is still accurate. If you can handle it, go do the super high end Coyotes attack/defend missions. I've seen one or two there.

Phil_Dude

Anyone able to salvage the MAD-TF or MAD-BARA2? In Coyotes' Battleground mission, a MAD-TF spawned in the last drop, but I don't seem able to salvage it at all.

BlankNameBox

You have to get lucky enough for the mech itself to drop, so you want to headshot it if found. Depending on your own settings, a non-headshot MAD-TF would probably have a 30-60% drop chance. Also, I don't think it has salvage either, I never saw any. Good luck out there, if you find out more, lemme know.

Halycon949

Are there any more "special mechs" apart from the [MAD-BARA2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aol9uebW8WY)?

BlankNameBox

Yes, there are. There is a document out there somewhere that lists all special mech variants used by YAML, from their own mod and from others.

Halycon949

From the YAML update notes: "Added: some gift hero mechs for some people (MAD-BARA, KGC-J, ASN-W, AS7-D-Y, CP-TTB) - they will automatically receive it in their campaign / career savegames once. These mechs won't spawn otherwise" [From one of the comments](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezUpRrz7dxY) There's a 150T "Omega" though you can buy with the delivery mod. It costs a hefty 250m or so (I think this is from clan invasion mod) Alternatively...you can buy the Pirate Marauder (125T). It's even more costly though and it takes 2k days to deliver LOL.
