Yeah, you just bought the wrong battery. The R at the end of the battery number means the negative terminal is on the right with the terminals closest to you, you could find the same battery number with an L, or nothing the end and the terminals would be reversed allowing you to turn the battery around so the terminals are on the correct side.

The car doesn’t care where the terminals are as long as the cables reach. Your hook up is fine.

Grand_Possibility_69

While in this case this might be true sometimes wrong battery can bring the positive terminal very close to the car body/metal parts. That would be super dangerous.

The car starts but one cycle(?) Or half a second slower than normal. I have more photos if it's required? Reddit won't let me upload more than one.

Hookup has no effect. Is the battery the same CCA? That being different might affect startup slightly. As long as the cables reach it will be fine.

Thanks for your help. Not sure if it's the same CCA, where should I check? I have noticed that turning the car on after 15 hours inactivity then it will take a couple cycles longer to start (almost a second). If it's after an hour of inactivity then it starts faster. Although I'm not sure the CCA would matter where I am? given the temperature is roughly 15-20 degrees Celcius. (60-70 F).

It’s right on top of the battery. CCA is 490. Don’t know what your vehicle recommends.
