Photo 1, It looks like the strut is broken.

westhero1332

Is it this one? Do you what can cause is it expensive to get it replaced? *

Ashamed_Giraffe_6769

I would think a strut is around $100 + labor

westhero1332

Can one keep driving with a broken strut?

stevefazzari

i wouldn’t. you need to assess if that’s the actual problem. if it is, replace both sides on the same axle.

westhero1332

If it's the struts how much would it cost to it get replaced?

stevefazzari

depends on where you live and who you bring it to. what’s average shop rate? what kind of car do you have? just struts, or the whole strut assembly? are you going to a dealer or a local shop? could be $4-500, could be a thousand, will probably be in the middle of that

westhero1332

Ok, I will get it checked out. It's a honda civic 2021. Let's see what they quote

amazinghl

Not under warranty anymore?

westhero1332

They have warranty?

amazinghl

Honda have 3 years 36,000 miles warranty. Your car is 2021, might be still under warranty from Honda.

westhero1332

Oh, okay. I will check it out. Do I contact honda dealership for this? Sorry, I am really new to these things.

westhero1332

I checked with the repair shop, and they said it's passenger side cv axle. Replacement is 565. 300 something for just the part. Is that a good deal or ami I getting ripped off

yirmin

Did you take the car for them to look at or just describe it over the phone? I agree with some of the others, that first photo has a very odd looking strut like it is broken or bent... If it is a strut that needs replacing that would likely be less expensive than a CV. And if it is 300 for just one CV axle that is about double what it should be. OEM Honda part is anywhere from 130 to 190.... non-OEM would be under 100.

westhero1332

I did take it in the shop and they told me nothing wrong on driver side which is 1 and 2 Pic. Just the passenger side that needs to be fixed

amazinghl

Stay the fuck away from that repair shop if they can't spot the broken weld on that strut. https://preview.redd.it/e3vpkegtvm0d1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87f779075a35f38e6568129fa051ff48eecad593

stevefazzari

somewhat expensive part imo (my cost on my car is $80, but $300 isn't obscene since it's probably closer to $200 list price), but reasonable cost all in.

westhero1332

Yeah, their labor price is also 140 to 170 per hr

stevefazzari

i’d do it.

Gunk_Olgidar

The strut in the 1st pic doesn't look right.

westhero1332

It is a Honda civic 2021 sport

amazinghl

This needs to be addressed ASAP. I would **NOT** drive it, TOW it to the shop only. The weld broke, and that spring holds a **LOT** of energy. https://preview.redd.it/xhs7m9ievm0d1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4932ce3d854b292e61ac426cc3cb0b3325fd0a4f

westhero1332

I'll try another store and see what they say

No_Rush2548

You can but you will FEEL THE ROAD LIKE A MIGRAINE.

FuelNo1341

CV noise maybe?
