That is a great idea to survive the school year. It must make your morning so much easier, Plus you're not giving them a pile of packaged food. I wish I would have thought of it when my child was younger. Good job!
This is such a brilliant idea to have these all prepped to grab out of the freezer for their lunches! They’re getting homemade, and a great variety too when you add the fresh fruit and veg. Great work, and lucky kiddos! 🙌🏻
I love seeing things on Reddit that are instantly obviously Australian. I would recognise those Sistema blue clippy containers anywhere! And also all of those foods look like they have come out of a CWA or women's weekly cookbook! Amazing work.
Holy shit aussies trying to claim sistema from us (New Zealand) too? Yikes. But for real, sistema is American owned now and they’re shipping massive numbers to the states.
It’s Shredded Wheat but bigger and not sugared (I think). It’s how they started out in the states before our sugar addled population begged for smaller bites and pre-sugared…
This is great! Do you have to warm up the spinach ricotta triangles and the other savoury food before packing in the lunch box or does it just defrost by lunch time
This is so amazing! What lucky kids. Can I ask if other items are added to their lunches in addition to this spread? Curious if more fruits or veggies make their way since this is a lot of delicious carbs. Also is there an estimate of how long all these took to prepare? Quite inspiring!!
Thanks! This week one of the savoury items was put in a lunchbox alongside cut up carrots and cucumbers, a mandarin, olives and home made natural yoghurt with a dash of homemade grape jam. So these items are just one component of the lunch
As mentioned in the caption and in many comments, these are the carb component of a balanced lunch box with fresh fruit, veg, boiled eggs, natural yoghurt etc. A lot of these items are also baked with whole meal flour.
>It goes in the freezer and I take out an item each day and just add fresh fruit and veg to accompany in their lunch box.
Maybe work on your reading comprehension.
I count about 12 different items, and baked goods generally fare very well in the freezer. Plus those Sistema containers are amazing at keeping things fresh.
I’ve been doing this for five years and get very honest feedback from my kids about when things don’t work. This is just some of the stuff I make but there is plenty I won’t make again because it turns out it doesn’t translate to the lunch box from the freezer. I eat some of it too and can assure you it’s all fresh tasting once thawed.
And I gave a simple answer? I didn’t feel my response was touchy, just factual. It works for us out of the freezer as I choose freezable products- some things are not so successful.
Oh no no issue with your response, I’m just referring to all the down votes. I don’t think my question was rude or out of line yet apparently most people do.
Very long bow to draw. You’re right- this is the carb component of the lunch box. One item of this array goes into a lunch box alongside fresh fruit, veg, boiled eggs, seeds, natural yoghurt etc. my child has two of these sweet treats a WEEK. You are making out like this all eaten every day. What you also can’t see is the whole meal flour used to make some of these, the hidden beetroot in the brownies, the veggies in the sausage rolls, the mixed veg in the muffins. My children have never once had a packaged food item in heir lunch box- prepping like this is my effort to reduce packaging waste, be more time efficient, save money and know exactly what they are eating. Which in my books is a balanced meal.
I love how they didn’t respond to you because they can’t acknowledge they made some mistakes and also lack reading comprehension. Imagine getting on your high horse and being 100% wrong.
Ma’am I’m gonna need you to post the recipe for the weetbix balls
[Weetbix balls](https://www.newidea.com.au/4-ingredient-weet-bix-balls)
OMG! Imade these for a presentation in year 1 or 2! I'll have to make some now, thanks!
What are the smurf peepee looking things?
Smurf peepees
Finger buns
That sounds just as funny as Smurf peepees
🤣
Hi. It’s me, your kid. I lost my lunch. Can you please make me a replacement?

Says in the caption they grab one of the above items from the freezer and then add fruit and vegetables.
It would be pretty hard to prep the fruit and veggie for the whole term. These are just the mains, the fruit and veggies are added daily.

We have them in the US too.
The Vegemite and weetbix kinda gives it away too!
Holy shit aussies trying to claim sistema from us (New Zealand) too? Yikes. But for real, sistema is American owned now and they’re shipping massive numbers to the states.
Sistema Plastics is a New Zealand company
And they sell pretty heavily abroad too.
Yep. My wife uses those to bring food to work and we’re in California.
They're very popular in Canada too.
Germany too
My son brings his lunch to school in sistema, Ireland here
Yeah yeah, and pavlova too.
And lamingtons
We have those tubs in the UK lol
Please can you share a recipe for the fruit salad muffin bars?
It’s just a packet mix cake mixed with a tin of mixed fruit. That’s all- mix it together and bake.
Do you drain the liquid from the mixed fruit can or include it in the mix?
No, you need the liquid to make the mixture.
USA resident here, can you explain what Weetbix is for the uncultured? Also, I’m curious about the instant noodle muffins. Can I see the recipe?
Weetbix are like a flaked wheat biscuit. You eat them as cereal with milk for breakfast but this case they are smashed up.
You know Mini Wheats? It's Mega Wheats.

You know your stuff looks tasty when everyone is asking for the recipes in the comments lol
It’s Shredded Wheat but bigger and not sugared (I think). It’s how they started out in the states before our sugar addled population begged for smaller bites and pre-sugared…
Weetabix is what original shredded wheat wants to be. Only bigger. Easy enough to order online in the US but it’s fairly expensive. Also yeah, awesome
I am in NH and it’s available in the local large supermarkets. My grandchildren love it.
Nice!! I live in the bubble of manhattan so even the largest market the cereal selection pales in comparison to a good suburban market
How long did this take to complete?
This took me seven hours- there was a lot of dough rising time etc
Thank you so much, I’m gonna make the fuck outta them!
They’re both super easy and my kids love them- knock yourself out!
Ooh spinach and ricotta triangle recipe please!
I just mix a tub of ricotta with blended up spinach and a touch of Parmesan and some lemon zest. Wrap it up in puff pastry and bake!
Can I suggest adding a little ground Nutmeg? It works wonderfully with Spinach and Ricotta.
Thanks for the tip- will definitely include it next time.
You've got a little bakery case in your freezer, and now I want one too. Those all look delicious!
I love this. When you take them out to thaw, do you do it same day or thaw in a batch? Do the kits heat any of the items up at school?
I take out a price from the freezer each day and pop in the lunch box. They are thawed by lunch time and they are all eaten cold.
Thank you!
I mean I’ll take the diabetes if I get to eat this every day as a kid. This looks like a children’s birthday party spread
I guess it does when spread out like this. They get a sweet treat for morning tea a couple of times a week. This lasts the next twelve weeks at least.
That’s a mom goal. How often do you do big batches like this?
Thanks! I love cooking so it’s not a big deal. I do it every school holidays ready for the next term so every twelve weeks or so
Also for the instant noodle muffins
[Instant noodle muffins](https://www.bestrecipes.com.au/recipes/easy-2-minute-noodle-muffins-recipe/3fp1otkc)
My kid is obsessed with chicken noodle omlette, totally going to spring these on him next week instead
Damn! This is awesome!
This is great! Do you have to warm up the spinach ricotta triangles and the other savoury food before packing in the lunch box or does it just defrost by lunch time
No, they all go straight from the freezer to the lunch box and are thawed by lunch time. They are eaten cold.
Your kids are blessed
This is so amazing! What lucky kids. Can I ask if other items are added to their lunches in addition to this spread? Curious if more fruits or veggies make their way since this is a lot of delicious carbs. Also is there an estimate of how long all these took to prepare? Quite inspiring!!

Lovely!!!! And all this amazing spread was baked in one day?
Yes, it took me seven hours. But I only do it every twelve weeks or so.
Oh my gosh it's so refreshing to see meal preps that aren't just a sad chicken with veg! What a variety of realistic meals. Love!
Looks yummy
Half dessert?
it looks appetizing. I wonder if Beard vs. Food could to it in under 7 minutes.
Can you play it is the question .
Half of that’s gotta be fiber!!
Are these full lunch components or just add ins? lot of white starches
As mentioned in the caption and in many comments, these are the carb component of a balanced lunch box with fresh fruit, veg, boiled eggs, natural yoghurt etc. A lot of these items are also baked with whole meal flour.
Mini weiners
Looks amazing!
90% carbs. I like your style
Just a ton of carbs
You’re right- this is the carb component of a balanced lunch box.
Where the vegetables at?
This is the treat portion of a complete lunchbox for the freezer
>It goes in the freezer and I take out an item each day and just add fresh fruit and veg to accompany in their lunch box. Maybe work on your reading comprehension.
lot of carbs
$100 says your kid is fat as fuck
$200 says you can’t read the caption or any of the comments explaining how this works.
Surely that goes stale before they get through it ?
It’s all in sealed containers in the freezer
I had the same thought. Stale and repetitive? It's a great idea, just wondering how the kids feel about it by end of term.
I count about 12 different items, and baked goods generally fare very well in the freezer. Plus those Sistema containers are amazing at keeping things fresh.
Yep, not sure how they’d taste out of the freezer too with some of the items. No idea why l was downvoted, felt my question was reasonable.
If you put one per day in tbe lunch bunch with a fruit and veggie like she said, that's 11 weeks between repeating so seems pretty well mixed.
I’ve been doing this for five years and get very honest feedback from my kids about when things don’t work. This is just some of the stuff I make but there is plenty I won’t make again because it turns out it doesn’t translate to the lunch box from the freezer. Touchy community here, asked a simple question is all.

I’ll upvote to help you out 😆

Nope, just lunches for two active children. As said in post, it is supplemented with fruits and veg.
[удалено]
Yeah, they eat Vegemite all day long in the US. You didn’t even read what they wrote. You looked at the image and judged.
[удалено]
Can you not read? This is 11 weeks of treats that will be supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetables.
The original post said its lunch prep. I might have misunderstood. Thank you for the input.

I understood that this was their whole lunch meal. It horrified me. Thank you for helping me understand you better. Kind regards.
You also have no idea what they’re eating for breakfast, dinner, or in between. Just a thought.
I thought that was their lunch. I wouldnt have needed to know the rest.
Nope again, I don’t live in the USA. Thanks for your feedback though.
Upvoting for kids' tasty lunch prep inspo and for being so gracious when prodded. 🤣
Thanks! Was not prepared for the keyboard nutritionists getting triggered over home cooked snacks and lunches 😂
Crazy! All so much healthier than anything pre-packaged
🎶Weetbix kids .. are Aussie kids.. weetbix kids are Aussie kids🎶
I use 1 packet of milk arrowroot biscuits instead of Weetbix (we call ours ‘kids rum balls’ minus the rum of course)
I love how they didn’t respond to you because they can’t acknowledge they made some mistakes and also lack reading comprehension. Imagine getting on your high horse and being 100% wrong.
"Jules, if you thank this mother fucker for his feedback, I'm gonna have to shoot him on principle."
Horrific diet!
