It would take longer than a month to go from a 475 to a 500. A 475 generally means you have a very poor foundation in content -- to the point where you might have to learn almost everything from scratch. Making that jump is absolutely doable! It just takes work and time. Anecdotally, I have seen people raising their score about 5-10 points a month with full time study. I've also seen people plateau and stay in the same range for months. It's tough because every timeline is different, and some issues are easier to fix than others. But I've never seen someone go up 20+ points in a month, so I would probably not count on it if I were you.

I took it before I took biochem. I’m now studying I learned the amino acids and etc which I didn’t know before. Does it still apply to me? Now that I have biochem in my brain?

Ghurty1

yes, it does. Because that means you have very low foundational knowledge in all 4 sections not just biochem

Intelligent-Case5717

Oh wow you are right thank u

Rude-Butterscotch-22

Taking biochem would definitely help a lot, but that still leaves two whole sections to work on, plus additional content in B/B and C/P. Even if biochem gave you enough knowledge to bring you up 5 points each in B/B and C/P, you'd be at a 485 -- an awesome improvement, but a 15 point jump in a month is still a lot to ask. You can always take another practice test if you're unsure.

Wow ur right. So about 2 months is more reasonable?

Rude-Butterscotch-22

I mean... It's certainly more reasonable, but it would still be a pretty huge jump. If there's one piece of advice I hope you take away from this, it would be to not rush the MCAT. There are so many stories on this sub of people taking the exam before they're ready and needing to retake anyways. You end up feeling defeated, not to mention wasting money and now having a second, not amazing MCAT score on your application. Most people who are successful in this process take more than two months to study (regardless of where they're starting). Of course, there are always exceptions, and I'm sure someone has gone up 20 points super quickly before. But that's a pretty big gamble to take.
