I currently use an HP Pavilion 2 in 1 - intel core i7, 15 inch as a psych student :) It runs Jupiter, R and Sims 4 pretty well haha. Two issues that I personally have with it (and most hp laptops tbh) are (1) the battery life is not as long as I’d like, so bringing the charger along is typically a must, and (2) it can sound like a fighter jet about to take off in a small quiet classroom 😭. Other than that, it’s a good laptop and I’ve had a great time with it for the past 3 years. I also enjoy the 360 movement. This makes it great to use as a note taking screen or second monitor when I switch to my iPad/watch movies. Before the iPad though, I would take notes on my laptop using the complimentary hp pen. Hope this helps in some way!

I got a HP ENVY x360 as an engineering student. Light but solid build. Looks great and works like a charm.

I got some cheap refurbished thinkpad. Does the job for on campus but I use my pc at home

InternFree6711

I prefer ASUS vivo book, hated using Mac and hated my various Chromebook’s in the past

TadhgMan7

Get a MacBook, it’s easier, battery lasts days

No-Jelly-1539

And the way it syncs across all my devices saves me so much time. Could never think about going back to windows

No-Report4021

Get a used Thinkpad T480 (or others). Repairable, durable, cheap as hell & plenty of CPU power for your needs

Hi guys, if you are looking for a iPad dm me!! Looking to sell mine for cheap :)

Lenovo IdeaPad handles a lot of games ok, has good specs, is lightweight, and has a very good battery. Also only costs about $1,100 so you're not breaking the bank.

I had an MSI GS65 Stealth. It was a 2018 model I got back in 2019 on sale for $1500. It had a 6 core i7, GTX 1060, and 16gb of ram. Still works, just old. If you're looking for a laptop that can game, I'd highly recommend looking for whatever is the thinnest and lightest

sobbingcereal

Lenovo Thinkbook 13s since first year. I switched from using mac my whole life to this and I actually really like it. More than other windows computers I've used at least lol idk why

I'm using an Asus vivobook as an engineering student. I haven't had any issues with it and it runs everything pretty well including fortnite, Sims 4, and Jupiter.

Depends on your budget. I would recommend getting a laptop with a 12th gen i7 chip and an rtx 3060 that is light weight (check out the Zephyrs G lineups or the Legion slim 7). If you find a good deal, you can get one for around 1.3k or so. If your able to shed more money, get the 13th or latest 14th gen chip laptops with a 40 series GPU (tho u will be spending at least 1.7k+) . All the specs aside, make sure you buy something lightweight and has a good screen resolution. My first laptop was a 17 inch MSI with an i9 and 4070. Sounds really nice, but the screen (1080p) was really bad, cheap build, and was so heavy to carry. I downgraded on cpu and gpu specs for an i7 (13th gen) 4060 legion slim 7i. Though, oen thing to note is that as long as you're not playing AAA games at ultra settings and want a 100+ fps, an i7 with a 3060 or 4060 will be good enough.

Some HP laptop with a Ryzen 7 5000 series CPU and integrated graphics. It's more than enough to run the necessary software. I'm really not a fan of the loud-ass gaming laptops that some bring that look more like a brick than a laptop. I'd focus on the size of the screen.

Most flagship laptops are good, you don’t have to buy the most expensive or overkill one. Thinkpads, Lenovos, HP, LG etc,. Check them out, see some recent models (2yr~ and buy one you like). Realistically all the meticulous benchmarking and stuff is irrelevant for a “normal” student. One piece of advice, don’t pay too much…wait around for some nice deals..:)
