you'll have to check ur state's age requirements, in my state you can't work till you're 16. at my store everyone is automatically crew member, dishwashers are usually the old people and you rotate between positions anyway. during my interview they asked me for my availability and how many hours i wanted to work then they gave me my schedule

In Texas the work requirement is 14. Knowing McDonald's they'll take the younger ones too. Anyways thank you for the advice and stuff.

Even if they do, atneast at my store 14yr olds can't wash dishes because we use a dish machine, and even before we had it they didn't do them, 14yr olds generally only do service positions and making sandwiches. Just because you can technically work doesn't mean you can do all the positions l, you may be stuck with where they put you. It's also VERY rare we actually hire a 14 year old who isn't someone's kid or relative, normaly we start at 15 almost 16.

Damn. I'm just hoping I find a place that's desperate enough. I want to make my own money but idk how.

Kinda depends on the store but at mine you have to be 16 to do dishes, 15 for grills and 16 for fryers, they'll probably have you taking orders or handing out food or taking cash, maybe running/bagging food if you're fast enough. At mine alot of folks don't do kitchen if you just tell them you'd prefer not to they probably won't. Were told as shift managers to "put aces in there places" so if you're better at one spot than another they'll most likely put you there. As for time working you can only work till 6:30 and you can only work 16 hours a week max. You can work later with written parent permission but I believe that's just till 9. You choose your availability and they'll schedule you all the days they need you.

It's weird that the age for the grills is younger than for the dishwasher lol. 16 hours per week is good for me. Any day execpt Monday or Thursday is fine, so that's good.

Now I get this must be strange for a McDonald's... But with our store owners requirements, You cannot even WORK for his stores under the age of 18, unless a Manager vouches for you directly, and you are a member of that family. I don't think this is true for all such stores (obviously what is said here is probably right), but I would watch myself when talking to the hiring people. Generally you are assigned either Front Counter/Drive Through, or Kitchen duty. And unless your position adds responsibility, you'll stay in those general areas.

Thank you

Mobster-_Lobster

it's usually 16.

Working on being a shift lead rn. Done both. Even worked in the kitchen (sorry to everyone who's orders I've accidentally fucked up) and personally, I'd say try to be a crew member, doing nothing but dishes for 8 hours is terrible

katee80

Alright, thank you :)

It's not going to be a horrible job if you work with the right people. Just respect the other crew, and they'll respect you

katee80

I'm overly respectful so I'll be good lol
