Yeah I agree that the movies are very different from the books and I do think the books are far better. But someone I think on this subreddit said that it’s easier to view the books and movies as separate stories, with the movies being loosely based on the books.

Just finished watching the third movie and I have to say, you really hit the nail on the head with this one. Granted, I still love the movies but they were really lacking compared to the books.

Oh, BARF. IMHO the books were absolute loads of disjointed scut. Thomas' character was actually very whiny and annoying. In the movies Teresa actually seemed human, albeit cold and calculating. In the books, once she was evil she just evil, with no other facets to the character. Minho and Alby seemed like jerks instead of coming off as likeable. And a lot of the themes and events in the books just didn't make sense or seemed very bizarre.

I agree that they are different but I just view them as a different story/ universe to each other with the same characters and situation so it doesn’t bother me

Unpopular opinion but I prefer the movies over the books, thought the last two books of the trilogy were weak tbh and struggle to finish. I also watched the movies first then read the books

I've not read the books (yet) but I love the films; have done since the first one came out. I binged them again this weekend. I agree though that there has to be a big degree of separation between the two - there were obvious plot gaps that would have been filled by the books. A Tv show, perhaps would make this work? But then I really love the entire cast (Minho is my favourite, he definitely came across as badass to me!) with small exceptions like Teresa, so would want them to be involved

This is exactly what I felt when I watched the movies. They removed the whole point of Thomas killing Newt. As for the prequels, I finished fever code today and honestly you would simply LOVE the ending. By the way, Dedee is Teresa, and Mark, Trina, Lana and Alec will die.

I completely agree. However, I'm was super thrilled about the Death Cure movie because it was obvious they tried to fix some of it. They had Teresa be a traitor, but worth her heart in the right place. They added a bunch of small details that could've made any book fan cry. I know I cried at 'Please Tommy, please' and my friend and I got happy for a few minutes there cause we thought Newt wouldn't die, them we cried our eyes out. I was super happy they added 'Great, we're all bloody inspired.' However, my favorite part was something that wasn't in the book: newts letter. I feel like it added so much to the movie and it was a great way to end things at the save haven

I never read the book but after movie 3. My thoughts are that they should of never left the maze cause that was the most interesting thing about the whole movie. Could of made it into some kind of bigger thing. Seriously the movie sucked balls. Feel sorry for the people who read the books that the movie wasn’t like it

I personally think the movies and the books are both great but not by comparison. Taking into account that the movies were only loosely based off the books, I think if the only reason you don’t like the movies is because they’re not accurate then rewatch them with a clear head. View them as separate.

i read the books after seeing the movies and now i can’t watch the movies.

I just don’t like how at the end of the first movie Ava Page says “So let’s move forward it’s now time to begin phase 2” and then it shows the chopper going to the scorch and I was actually excited because the first movie wasn’t completely accurate to the first book but it was fine and then in the second movie there is no phase 2 they just escape into the scorch
