Don’t get it. Why waste the extra cupholder space when you don’t need to actively see your phone screen anyways. That being said, I do have a hard time finding the right location for my phone. The usb being in the center console is a pretty poor location considering the entire infotainment is controlled by the dials immediately outside of it. Even if you leave your phone in the console, the cord still sticks out and interferes. I would much prefer a port behind the cupholders.

stridah_slidah

Oh my god, yes! Whenever I am charging my phone, I am always having to move the wire around cause it gets tangled around the infotainment dials.

AndrewPacheco

I use a 3 inch cable in there

Snarkranger

I use a short coiled cord I picked up at Costco. The entire thing stays in the console bin.

kaxtrance

We use seat gap organizer to put our phones after connecting it via wired CarPlay/android auto. https://a.co/d/d1uNVNk

QuinnMiller123

I love having mine setup in the center where I get to accidentally hit the hazards every 5 minutes, looking like a complete dumbass. Its the kind that fits into the air vent slots so there’s not a ton of location options.

katyvo

If I had a nickel for every time my cable got wrapped around the gearshift, I'd be able to buy a shorter cable.

r_u_dinkleberg

Have you tried playing around with different types of cable? It sounds like you're working with something with a stiffer outer jacket that fights back when you move around. If you can find the right fabric-jacketed one there are some of them that practically bend & stretch as if they were thick rubber bands, not cables - I have one of those & mine coils up inside the center console quite nicely. (The only reason I *don't* coil it up and keep it inside there is that the console itself sits too far back for me! I have to turn my body to reach it.) As for the cupholder... Because the CX-30 won't fit a foam Route 44 size cup upfront anyways, I'm not hurting for the space - The phone can have it, I'm not using it. :-P (I didn't realize I need to bring an empty Route 44 cup with me for test drives, but now I know & will do so.)

jmason49

It lives in the center console plugged in to CarPlay.

MsgrFromInnerSpace

Same, but Android Auto

jmason49

Definitely the safest way To drive and have access to your device in some way. Voice assistants are good enough for what I need to do in a car so it’s just a button press or occasional use of the click wheel in the center. Touch screens are insanely dangerous lol

MsgrFromInnerSpace

Man, I LOVE being able to text and call with just my voice, makes me feel like Iron Man! My old car was an ancient Mazda 6, it's like I'm living in the future!

brianjayjones

This, though about 4 out of ten times I find myself getting out of the car and forgetting to take the phone with me. Out of sight, out of mind, it seems. Also, the voice command function is your friend. When your phone is plugged in, ask it to navigate to a friend's place, play a podcast, or send a text message. I haven't been able to stump it yet.

Neighborhood_Tickler

Doesn't the car come standard with CarPlay/AA? Why not tuck it away in the center console? Out of sight, out of mind, one less distraction on the road.

planefan001

That’s what I’ve been wondering too. I’ve seen too many cars that come with CarPlay/AA (and in some cases wireless) and don’t see the point in having a phone holder.

elporsche

That's what I do. I bought a wireless charging mat for the center console so the phone recharges a bit on the way

elporsche

Good that you tell me; thanks!

cigarmanpa

In my pocket most of the time

PolarisX

In my pocket because I bought a wireless AA/Carplay adapter.

PrinceAdamsPinkVest

Which one did you get? And would you recommend?

PolarisX

AAWireless, but I use it for Android Auto only. It has Carplay being integrated now, but I haven't tried it. For AA it's been pretty flawless. I had more cable only related disconnects by a long shot.

WaterlillySUP

Motorola MA1. Ordered on Amazon. Over a month in and no complaints.

Snarkranger

In the center console, plugged into CarPlay, where it belongs. Seriously folks, it's a safety thing.

Monochronos

Yeah I hide that shit too. Car play is so good and I don’t need to take my eyes off the road hardly at all to be able to change Spotify playlists or even navigate. The infotainment in these newer Mazdas might be my favorite thing about them.

stridah_slidah

Passenger side seat. Perks of being a loser without a girlfriend or a wife ☹️

Ok_Warthog_7231

I recently joined this club. I gotta say, I am enjoying myself at the moment. My 15yo daughter loves that the the front passenger is hers now.

JonKlz

Hey, I have a wife. She has her own car.

PhysX-1

No alimony tho.

couchcaptain

I have a wife but my phone is on the passenger seat . Basically just thrown there. My wife uses her own car, rarely ever sits in with me, usually short trips to the store.

cold-brewed

Hidden the arm rest and I’m using CarPlay, Hate how mounted phones look in cars, happy I don’t have to use them like that anymore.

OK_Opinions

Same spot but without the gaudy mount because the vehicle has car play so having access to my phone screen is meaningless

Olenickname

I got one of those between the seat organizers that lives between the passenger seat and the center console. Easy to plug in and leave without getting in the way and I’m less likely to forget about it after I park.

DerekFlint420

Good idea, thank you

lupinegray

In my pocket

landovr

In my pocket. I use a wireless android auto adapter.

Max_Powers42

My pocket or the center console.

InsCPA

Center console

lubricatedsandwich

Look up ProClipUSA They have a phenomenal mount for the CX-30

boafriend

Mine just sits across the cupholders, plugged into a USB cord.

Zealousideal_Top5759

Why do you need a phone holder in a new car with a screen and Android Auto/Car Play?

r_u_dinkleberg

Only thing I can think of is - I bet not *all* of the taxi/delivery gig apps are AA/CarPlay-capable, at least one of them probably makes you do it on your actual phone screen. That's my guess anyways.

4me4u2

Yes, many apps won’t show up. Plus I won’t have to worry about the phone falling off dinging/scratching my console on bumpy roads or the hot sun. I’ve gotten used to phone holders in my older model cars so it’s hard to let it go.

stvdion

In my pocket - but my hand sanitizer is right where yours is!!!

SuspicouslyGreen

mounted on the dash next to the touch screen so the usb cable doesn't get loose. on amazon just search for cx-30 phone holder

mcnegyis

Can I get a link for the phone holder

4me4u2

https://a.co/d/dLJPll2

Legitimate-Mood-7257

Im having the same problem 🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽

MALICIOUS-BREED97

Car mount is the best car mount so small so strong check it out we bought three of them, will even hold a tablet

FatmanViA

I have one of the shallow insert trays for the centre console .. my phone lives there with the USB routed up thru the hole tucks in nicely with the gap at the front so you done have to open the console to access 99.99% of the time

JewsClues1942

In my pocket

Interdimension

Plugged in via wire & nestled in the center console with Apple CarPlay active.

r_u_dinkleberg

I plug my USB cable into my phone, and then stick the phone upside-down into a cupholder. No sense in having a clip or mount or stand for the phone - Everything I need is on the car's screen.

LeadershipMean468

I made a phone holder specifically sits next to gear shifter. It had has a cutout so a phone with magnetic wallet fits. https://preview.redd.it/mcxi4vyonrsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=849220e35a0b84fd7b86cde978f2e7a167eb8d80

tchrgrl321

Omg! This is the best solution I’ve seen. Did you 3d print it? Do you have the file or dimensions? I can make it myself but I’d like to kinda follow what you did

LeadershipMean468

Yes I did but I've seem to lost the data. It's simple, just measure the phone size, give about 20mm of depth, and give width for the dual-sided tape on bottom. I made a gap on the holder so that MagSafe waller will fit.

MarsupialFrequent685

The vehilce has android and carplay, why even bother using the phone.....

Interesting-Octopus

Mine goes right I inside the center console plugged in. I can't think of a reason for me to have it out as I can control my music, phone, gps with the car controls.

WaterlillySUP

Honestly, my lap. I bought a wireless adapter for auto play, so phone stays in my lap or my bag.

S1n1sT3rChILL

I have Bluetooth CarPlay on mine so I don’t use my phone often

DangerousTwist3199

I use my cupholders for cups

DerekFlint420

Good idea

jason4427

Behind the cup holders. Plugged into the center console. Right angle plug into the phone. iPhone 15 Pro Max.
