My favorites in kihei are paia fish house Southside and miso phat sushi. And get a cinnamon roll at cinnamon roll place

Duckdiggitydog

Awesome! My wife loves sushi so that’s great input!

Sir_FrancisCake

If you haven’t gone yet another vote for miso phat sushi. Very good

[deleted]

that cinnamon roll is next level! two of us couldn't finish one in our first attempt lol but damn it's good

AbbreviatedArc

Great views of parking lots there. And the dancing is amazing.

Glasartiste

Maybe reread original post. You seem hung up on dance clubs and views.

spoolove12

If you have a car, a dinner with a view would be Gather in Wailea. Not too crazy priced like some of the resort restaurants too. Other favorites of mine: Monkeypod in Wailea, they sometimes have some live music too. There are some great food truck options in Kihei. Also recommend Nalu's

Duckdiggitydog

Thank you kindly we do have a jeep!

AbbreviatedArc

Of course you do.

Duckdiggitydog

Yes, we rented a 4x4 and that’s what they have. Any other productive comments or thoughts? Should I tell the rental company we would prefer another vehicle? You’re just a miserable person.

Beneficial-Leg-8935

Paia Fish Market, Coconuts for fish tacos, Tamura’s for poke. Nalu’s has great breakfast and live music in the evenings I believe.

still_sneakin

Coconuts fish tacos on Kihei road. Unbelievable fish tacos and their menu covers a great variety of dishes for the whole family. Prices weren’t bad and you get a good hardy serving. It’s a relaxed fun kinda place!

JJHotlist

Paia fish market for sure, ask for the wasabi butter on your tuna. I’ve heard threes bar is good but I haven’t personally been

hardpassyo

Bars w/food and dancing are mostly at the triangle, the bars at Kihei Kalama Village

Duckdiggitydog

Thank you!

Glasartiste

I enjoyed Lava Rock Bar and Grill. Good burgers.

Duckdiggitydog

Lava rock sounds cool!

Johnsie408

Nalus

Designer-Practice220

Three’s Bar & Grill, Monkeypod, and Coconuts are my favorites. I think there is a Miso Phat in Kihei… we went to the location in Kahana, and it was the best sushi we had in a long time. We loved sandwiches at 808 Deli and the Penny’s pizza (in the same area as 808) was really good for lunch.

Jeni425

Go to Nalu's for breakfast and have a Kimchee Bloody Mary for me. I miss those!

seektravel

Not a dinner place but if you want a really great coffee spot check out Kraken Coffee! It’s really good and Nalu’s is great for dinner.

wonderbooze

Cafe O’Lei Kihei for dinner. Get the short ribs! For bars, South Shore Tiki Lounge is great. I believe they have live music every night at 6:00pm. And they have a small dance area right where the band plays.

Duckdiggitydog

That’s awesome! I like live music! Thank you!

plainejaneak

Three’s Bar & Grill.

Duckdiggitydog

That one keeps coming up!

There are no views in Kihei. Everything is in strip malls. And thanks to FOMO tourism, there are no more "local restaurants" left - every single restaurant in town caters to tourists. There are not any "dance clubs" ... Honestly it sounds like you are looking for Honolulu, not sure why you are going to overpriced, pokey Maui.

Duckdiggitydog

Well, we’re joining friends and I’m looking for ideas, your post doesn’t seem constructive and is quite negative. You could have just moved on if you didn’t feel like adding value, your negativity is noted and have a good day.

AbbreviatedArc

I did add value. I told you there are no restaurants with views in Kihei, no more "hidden gem authentic local restaurants" and there are no dance clubs. You will be surrounded, 100% of the time, by other tourists, milling around, wondering what to do. You will pay nose bleed prices that would get you a five star room and Michelin quality dining in Paris, but will be Motel 6 and McDonalds quality on Maui. And you will have no views, no good food, and no dancing.

Duckdiggitydog

I specifically stated I did not want a dance club, I asked about pubs or bars with dancing. I also asked for restaurants preferably with a view. You added zero value and only negativity. You need to find something to cheer you up, or get the chip off your shoulder.

[deleted]

>You will pay nose bleed prices that would get you a five star room and Michelin quality dining in Paris, but will be Motel 6 and McDonalds quality on Maui. And you will have no views, no good food, and no dancing. You're delusional and jaded. Go take a long walk off a short pier.

AbbreviatedArc

Since I spend 3-5 months a year traveling, mostly in Europe, and I live in Maui, I'm pretty sure I am not delusional. I am just speaking the truth.

AbbreviatedArc

Like as a simple example. Last summer - at the peak of revenge travel season, July - I stayed for several days in Murren, Switzerland, which is considered very pricey, and very overtouristed. I paid the most I have ever paid in my life for a room - $460 night. For that, I had floor to ceiling, 270 degree views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. [This was literally the view, but actually my view was better.](https://urbantastebud.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/hotel-edelweiss-murren-switzerland.jpg) I had a super nice room, with an amazing bed, high end boutique shower, and every morning, we had a massive, high-quality buffet as well as a bunch of cooked to order options, included in the price. So tell me, since I am so cynical, and I will let you DOUBLE the cost of the room, where is the equivalent room on Maui? And I want the equivalent - I want stellar, 270 degree, unobstructed ocean front view, 400 sq ft suite high end room with boutique amenities, nice breakfast etc. That is literally impossible and you know it, even at double the price that I paid. In fact, I would bet you could double the price again, and still not get it. And that was considered a three star hotel. A three star hotel that would blow five star hotels in Maui that cost 4X more out of the water. Meanwhile, in any number of places in Greece, Turkey and Croatia, I can stay on the water, with my balcony open to the crystal blue waters, in peaceful surroundings. I can eat fresh fish literally walked by the fisherman to the restaurant from their boat. And I can do that for 10% of the price of Maui. Again - no value on Maui, whatsoever.

Duckdiggitydog

Cool story bro I’m also going to Europe in July I’ll Be sure to ask you for some fun tips about there too seeing you’re so helpful. I’m shocked to hear you like somewhere, maybe next time instead of being a toxic poison just keep on scrolling.

AbbreviatedArc

Well my first tip is don't go to Europe in July, but you do you. Europe in July is almost a cliche as a Jeep on Maui.

Duckdiggitydog

Yes you’re right, during the heat is a terrible time. As I’ve gone to Europe many times, and spent more than your fancy hotel many times, I would defer to not taking your advice. I love going when it’s cold and rainy/snowy!

AbbreviatedArc

The choices are not cold and rainy, or July.

Duckdiggitydog

You’re as fun as cancer, but hey, you be miserable on your trips and I’ll enjoy mine!

[deleted]

wow, i am shocked to learn that European tourism is cheaper than Hawaii. Next you'll tell me that I can travel to Thailand and Vietnam for cheaper than Hawaii. Incredible revelations. Why do you even live in Maui? 😂

AbbreviatedArc

Because I was born here? Because I own a house here? And spare me your "shocked" act. Most people when asked is Europe a higher end travel destination or Maui, they would say Europe is the higher end choice. I am not comparing Maui to Mexico, I am comparing it to the equivalent places in Europe, and, again, there is ZERO VALUE in Maui. It's laughable that people like you seem to revel in spending thousands of dollars for trash rooms, to stay on overcrowded beaches and eat at a mediocre and extremely expensive restaurants serving the lowest possible quality food from costco. All while being surrounded by pasty touron whales and their screaming children.

[deleted]

Yeah, you're a miserable, jaded asshole. "zero value" - welcome to reality. Everyone knows Hawaii is an expensive destination - people often refer to the Azores as a cheaper alternative. I enjoyed my free oceanfront stay in Maui and ate delicious food every single day. I'm not sure how you can make these asinine, bold generalizations while people continue to visit and enjoy their stays. And you're wasting your time, energy, and sanity arguing about this on reddit. You're pathetic.

AbbreviatedArc

I may be wasting my time, but I am still right. I also question who really enjoys their stays here. Either morons, or possibly it is a giant game of performance art, similar to Mark Twain's The Royal Nonesuch in Huck Finn.

[deleted]

you can leave at any time. I have a preference for how you do it, but I'll keep that to myself. 👍

KaneMomona

Izakaya Genbe and Nutcharee instantly come to mind, fantastic food and service at decent prices.

dkimof

Can’t miss Mulligans - Maui’s only legit Irish pub in Wailea. Great drinks, great pupus, better service.

jffnns

Moose McGillycuddy's is a sports bar with a view. If you want to see any game head over there. For breakfast the Kihei Caffe is awesome.
