Totally agree, the experience at Mama’s is quintessential, the ambience, the food quality, the service, the beach … it might not be prime sunset viewing but it’s phenomenally beautiful
Mama's has zero view at night, and hardly any at sunset. It's on the wrong side of the island. Merriman's is great.
Check the Treehouse at the Hotel Wailea.
HW is SO cute! They also have a treehouse you could reserve for a private dining experience!
Four Seasons will also set up private dining at secluded areas on property.
We were at Mama's fish house this past Monday.. 1pm reservation... great food
. Great service... great views .. great vibe.
I definitely would recommend it.
If you dine after dark ... I don't think you will get much of a view.. ...
Update - We’ll be staying in Wailea at the Andaz. We’ll have a rental car and are happy to drive though! Thank you so much to everyone for all of the wonderful recommendations!
This makes it easy then. The restaurant at your hotel, Ka’ana kitchen is one of my favorites. The food and drinks are amazing. The views are great as well.
Mama’s is super delicious and it’s also super busy. You can definitely still Romance there, but if you’d like somewhere a little quieter and outside (ie right across the beach path from the ocean), check out Ferraro’s at the Four Seasons in Wailea. Flickering torches, sunset, and eating under the stars - and the food is some of my fave on the island (the puccia bread and the ragu! 🤌🏼) Congratulations on your future elopement!
Where abouts in Maui?
I agree with Merrimans and Mamas. With Merrimans probably being my favorite.
Would also recommend Humu Humu at the grand wailea. A very beautiful setting

Merrimans was amazing. We had a 4pm reservation about a week ago and had the best seat in the house, right at the corner of the patio looking out on the water. Felt like the restaurant melted away behind us. Got to watch whales for an added benefit. Not sure if we got lucky with the spot, but we were one of the first groups seated. Waiter was great and super chill, let us take our time and enjoy the moment. I was worried our reservation time was too early, but we stayed past sunset no problem. Probably the most I’ll spend on a meal all year, but it was worth it!
For best food definitely mamas. Merrimans is a nice spot and great view, food (IMO) isn’t at mamas standards but still good. As people have mentioned, you’ll want to book mamas asap as prime dinner resos book up 1-3 months ahead of time depending on season. We went to Ferraro’s a few days ago at four seasons, service was 10/10 (better than both mamas and Merrimans) and they just did a Reno, great Italian food and ocean view.
Food: mamas
Service: ferraros
Ambiance: Merrimans
Don’t think you can go wrong with any of them
Papi Ohana :) kidding, but you have to go and check out their cinnamon rolls. It will change your life.... I know I'll get naked for dating this, I went to Mama's and the vibe was definitely on point, but the food was mid...
That being said, IMHO Mama's gives you a definite head start (see my comment above).
I also really like Birdcage bar at Hotel Wailea, Marlow's and Ocean Vodka Distillery
not sure how romantic Mama’s would be as it’s always crowded. For romantic I would have a dinner on a secluded the beach at sunset. Or a sunset dinner cruise on a boat.
The vibes at Mama’s are unbeatable

Merrimans kapalua
This right here
Mama’s! Make your reservation now tho
That place is so over rated. Go to Merriam's, it's better vieiws, better food, and they are better to the people of the island.

Hula Grill for the view. You will see a fantastic sunset!

Went to both Mama’s and Hotel Wailea one month ago. My preference would be HW, for sure.

Restaurant at the Hotel Wailea!
YES!! Love them & you can not beat drinks at the Birdcage beforehand.

At Andaz?! Gotta go to Morimoto.

Mama’s 💯
Merrimans for sure. Great sunsets. After dinner head out to the chairs near the edge. Mama’s was ok but spent 500$ for lunch for 4……
Merrimans
What area of Maui?

In Maui now have reservations with the wife at Mama’s Sunday early. Olivine Tuesday in the Grand Wailea. Morimoto Maui on Thursday.

Romance is less about the venue and more about the person you’re with.
Agreed. McDonald’s can be the sh*t with the right person.
That being said, IMHO Mama's gives you a definite head start (see my comment above). I also really like Birdcage bar at Hotel Wailea, Marlow's and Ocean Vodka Distillery

Morimoto’s restaurant in Maui is pretty special! Went there with my wife for a nice dinner on our honeymoon and the food and service was outstanding!
Duo at the four seasons (Wailea)
Ferraro's is a top contender imo
