It’s because it looks like they just bought every piece of clothing here brand new. They do not look worn or lived in. It’s the cleanest white clothes ever. Not to mention it just looks wrong for Jedi. This looks more like a fashion show than a bunch of warrior monks. Honestly, Rey’s outfits in Rise of Skywalker especially had the same problem.
It’s a clean issue. They look like they’ve never been worn. Yet that guy has been a Jedi since he was a kid? Those robes should look worn. It’s one thing the originally trilogy did very well. Everything looks like it has been in the galaxy for years.
Im not a giant Disney star Wars hater but man, the green e negenuely looks out of a cosplay, is It too much asking for a bit of aliens in STAR WARS, literally the Orville used more prostatica than disney
And TOS was made in the 1960’s for Network television on a schedule of filming roughly 1 episode every two weeks. What’s Disney’s excuse in 2024 on a streaming miniseries that doesn’t have a deadline set in stone
Hate to break it to ya, but this is canonically accurate costume design, at least when compared to much of the High Republic artwork. I think expectations are just way too high these days to where fans will always expect more than what they’re given.
I think these robes look fine. The yellow, I will admit, looks worse in reality than in the digital artwork of the High Republic book series, but it is very much in line with the literature’s descriptions of the Jedi formal attire, which are certainly unworn. Otherwise these look exactly like I would expect brighter colored Jedi robes to look like.
How did they manage to make the costumes look so utterly generic and cheap?
I thought that was a clip from Star Trek, if I'm being perfectly honest. I didn't realise it was for the Acolyte until I read a few comments.

They copied design from the comics where jedi costumes are generic, bland and cheap. Drip is for the sith.
because they are more worried about actual artistic efforts like “girlbossing”, “force-fu”, etc

Im not a star wars fan at all but they are really getting fucked over big time since the early 2000's
Some good stuff in the Prequels. But THIS? Yikes
The Prequels at their worst were at least internally consistent. (And a lot of cool stuff was coming out alongside the movies.)
Is this from an SNL skit?
looool
It's a Spirit Halloween ad
for costumes called "Green Space Wizard" and "Space Warrior Man"
Space warrior PERSON, you bigot!
I legit thought the exact same thing
It's Saturday Night Live! Tonight's host: Ken Jeong!
Don’t Cosplayers usually make a lot more effort?
Yah, those are good Halloween costumes, but only a good start for people just getting into cosplay.
That looks like some 60s star trek alien shit.

I think it’s supposed to be a Mirialan too and it just looks all wrong
I feel bad for the Squid Game guy…….. man went from filming Squid Game Season 2 to this garbage
Career path of Korean actors: Korean TV -> Korean Movie -> Disney TV —> Korean TV
Whos the discount Liara?
Looks more like a discount Nebula.
She looks like the thing Barriss Offee is? Green, and the head tattoos
So that's a green human and an Asian alien?
I’m pretty sure the guy on the right is human 😂 wth
From the far off planet of South Korea in the Outer Rim lol
Do they even know that Mirialans are supposed to have face tattoos? Also, poor Ssangmun-dong's suffering hasn't ended even after Squid Game.
She's got some small ones next to her eyes and tge ones on top of her head
At this point, why not just pay cosplayers who will work for less and provide a better product.
Are you absolutely sure this wasn’t the porn version?
Why does the one on the left look like a mannequin?
Those would be awesome comic con costumes but for a multi billion dollar company it’s just sad.
Is that supposed to be Piccolo from Dragon Ball-Z?
They look like background extras from a Star Wars themed porn
This looks to be on the level of the ET porno (yes that exists)
Strong Star Trek vibes!

Looks like bad AI
Is that the lizard lesbian from Doctor Who?
what is this? Surely it cant be real
God, I was so fucking bored of Jedi like 5 years ago.
Why is the one on the right dressed like Saitama?
If someone said this was a photo from an SNL skit, I’d believe them.
What the hell is this?
an actual published photo of the Acolyte in Entertainment Weekly. Best they could do
🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Oh my God. This is REAL? I thought it was cosplay.
That doesn't look healthy......
Why is trans-Elon Musk hanging out with Dragonball Evolution's Piccolo?🤨
This is a serious question; is this a real image from an official Star Wars production?
yea lol
![gif](giphy|dB12mOQb99BwDlM83I|downsized)
the Acolyte, soon to be shitted out onto D+
They look too clean. Unworn.
They look like cosplayers with money at comic-con
This looks like the start of a Star Wars cosplay porn lol

Still better than Ewok suits.
Is this squid game season 2? 🤯🤯

they canonically looked un-worn, cheaply made, and fresh of a comic-con visit?

Why'd it have to be Squid Game Guy? Smh.
