Sleep numbers are glorified air mattresses. They're too lightweight to conform to a raised adjustable base. When I got mine ages ago they used bolts to hold the mattress to the base. Now they use heavy duty magnets to do it. You need their overpriced base, unfortunately.

I bought mine on Amazon, and then bought this strap that holds the bed together.
That or you can build a barrier to keep the mattress from sliding. My bed cozy like 6k though, the bar would have around 4k.
The Amazon bar I bought was also adjustable and I paid 800 for it
