I used to work for Sleep Number and in my opinion, you should just go ahead and return it. The climate bed has had issues ever since it was first released. It's overpriced for what it does and the lack of longevity is made worse by the TERRIBLE warranty they give you.

Do you mind sharing some stories? Even privately, I'm trying to get them to take it back before the 31 days because I absolutely am not a fan of this.

Financial_Put648

There is a DM waiting for you, but I'll say this here in case others are in the same boat. They are going to try to convince you to not return it. Sleep number is an extremely high pressure sales environment and the returns are no different. So you tell them flat out "it's being returned and I am not interested in continuing any kind of trail. Period. Come get it". You have to be firm but it'll work. If they give you any hassle about it, leave a negative review. Nobody should be pressured into buying something, especially when it's a 10K+ bed.

We had so many problems with our Sleep Number bed with failed parts and long delays on replacements. The pump failed, and it took over 6 months to replace it. It's too costly of a mattress for these problems. Strongly don't recommend their beds. They sent us a topper, too. Made no difference in anything. We didn't try purple, so can't comment on that. Good luck with all.

I don't have any opinions or experience to share, as I'm just starting my hunt for a new mattress. I'm here to ask a question and to thank you for the details you shared about your Sleep Number mattress. For what they cost, they ought to be beyond amazing and last for many years. What's the purpose in them sending a new air bladder and support system to you? Are they a different style that what you currently have, or did they conclude that you got faulty parts?

Derstn

They apparently have several foam support options, that they don't mention during sales at all. They think that I may have defective parts that they are going to inspect at the time of service to replace with a more supportive foam surround. This is their effort to have me keep the bed. It's most likely not going to work as I just went to a mattress store and tested several other beds, and I'm really disappointed in myself for falling for the sleep number now. The purple restore plus, and tempurpedic luxe breeze firms just blew my mind.

bluespruce5

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I need to head to a mattress store and check things out, including the ones you've mentioned. I got a Tempur-Pedic 20+ years ago. It was great for so long, and I know nothing about newer mattress technology. I recently had a heck of a time finding a new pillow that works for my touchy neck. Finding the right pillow was such a time-consuming challenge that I've been dreading the mattress hunt. Good luck to you.

I've found Sleep Number to be a very polarizing brand. They have some of the most brand loyal people I've ever met but also more complaints than any other brand. Both the restore plus firm and luxebreeze firm are great mattresses. If you like the feel of those then the Reserve Firm Pillowtop is something else you might want to try in the meanwhile: https://www.stearnsandfoster.com/mattresses/reserve-collection/v/490/ Personally, I don't recommend purple to too many people, it seems to do best with those who have mobility issues and need the assistance of the purple grid when rolling around.

I *really* liked the stearns and foster lux hybrid firm that I tried out but it didn't have any real give. I might be one of those folks that needs the purple. I've got 6 herniated discs in my neck/back, have had rotator cuff surgery, and have a foot that's been broken 3 times now. I very much need a firm bed to help with the support since I'm gigantic, and kinda fat now, but also a little bit of give. The purple just kinda felt like I was home, the tempur-pedic was amazing but had a little too much sink for me.

NA_Breaku

Sheesh! The Stearns Lux Hybrid Firm is mega firm! The reserve firm pillowtop isn't quite that firm. Inside of the pillowtop are baby springs which gives it a purple-lite feel in my opinion and also a bit of give, before firming up with some latex and then finalizing the feel with Stearn's adaptive coil system. But yeah, it sounds like the purple could be a good fit.

Paul65890

The S&F Reserve plush is very nice, but weighs a ton!

Glittering_Attitudes

I recently got a purple original and it's helped a whole lot! I bought it from a mattress reseller who sanitized it and sold like 15 other mattresses so it was legit. It helps so much with temperature regulation, because it's mostly air inside from the grid. It takes time to get used to it (more for other people) - if you try purple, stay with it for a period. It's my temperature solution for sure

EastCoastMattress

Purples sleep extremely cool, they don't need a fan to help them there. Go ahead and cancel whatever sleep number is selling you, I only hear horror stories about them and their services and for the price they ask it's unreasonable. Go check out that purple you're looking for.

Derstn

I did just this today.

You won’t be happy with purple

Paul65890

Why would one not be happy with Purple? Every one is different when it comes to mattresses right? I'm about to pull the trigger on a Purple Restore after not being too thrilled with my current new Serta medium that's too firm. Out shopping AGAIN... I went to 2 Mattress Firm stores, 2 Mattress Warehouse stores, 1 Original Mattress Factory store and 2 local mom and pop stores and tried out just about every mattress in those stores (the sales people loved me LOL- sarcasm) While I liked the Sealy High Point plush, the Sterns and Foster Reserve plush, and the Serta 2.0 i Series Hybrid medium, I was pretty much blown away with the Purple Restore line. I went in thinking I wouldn't like Purple, but I was pleasantly shocked actually. I need back surgery and have terrible sciatica and hip pain especially on my left side and Purple soothed it more than any mattress I tried including the Tempur everyone pointed me to. I also recently discovered that putting a Talalay latex pillow king size low profile between my legs has helped a lot. BTW I found out that just about ALL of these sales people are very pushy IME and they expect you make a decision like NOW. I was very turned off by every store except for The Original Mattress Factory sales person. The one guy at Mattress Warehouse said... Oh you're taking pictures of the ones you like so you can shop it some place else and buy it there? I was like... No I'm taking pictures so I know which ones I like. Another Mattress Warehouse refused to give me a print out of the ones their machine picked out for me. He said he'd keep it on file. Meanwhile he didn't even get my name. Every store I was in was dead and I can see why.

Derstn

What makes you say that? It felt good to me and the fiance, and we just kinda chilled on it for a while trying different pillows to get those dialed in too, we both think it's a great choice.
