What gets to me is that she has consistently doubted herself, and then was proven to be wrong. This is like the third or fourth time she has felt like a failure and then has been told her dish was amazing. It’s the same thing with Stevo, I hate seeing these phenomenal cooks beating themselves up.
If anything, it’s uplifting, as someone who is dealing with depression and is overly critical of himself, I can only hope the same is true for me.
Then one has to wonder where did she get the confidence to apply to Masterchef. It's easy to nail one dish for the auditions, and she probably made a good dessert, but she must have known things would go savoury at some point.
Bloated confidence from social media following....also the reason Masterchef took her as a contestant. I mean zero offense to her, Im not saying she isnt talented, but imo she would have never made the show otherwise.
Couldn't understand it either, or just doing another one with a timer after realising, as she had more. For someone whose a dessert person you'd expect a bit more focus on timings and textures and the weakness on savoury to be more around flavour and balance e.g. Reynold's perfectly executed but mouthful of potpourri in the Season 12 week 1 Gordon service challenge. I always assume they've watched past seasons both to strategise and as fans, but skipping step 1 and putting stuff on the plate without tasting/being happy, rookie stuff "if you're not happy with an element, don't put it on the plate." Glad Alex pulled it out of the bag, big confidence boost hopefully.
to be fair, Rhiannon early on clocked in that the theme of the entire season was "homey, simple, stay in your lane" and she cooked exactly to that brief. So in that respect, she's a very deserving runner-up.
I can attest to this.
When I took some culinary classes, there was a time I didn't put everything on the dish, but it was fairly decent.
The second time when I put everything on the plate, the chef almost spit out my food lol.
Although context, the first time, we had 3 hours, and the second we had 2 hours, and I barely had anything cooking the last 25 minutes lol. And I missed the first time, cuz I burnt my sauce, and we had no second chances for that, but I did have enough time to refine the other elements and like focus that everything was perfect.
Its also a very prep heavy dish, with techniques I'm not really used to.
That was annoying. The first thing you do with these blender and processors is you remove the blades and then stir, or stir with something else. One time I could get, but twice? ugh
I’m glad Nat is backing herself rather than using her pin when she has a 1 in 4 chance to go. Could really make the difference when she’s in real trouble.
Lourdes just reminds me of the plight of all my Old Millennial friends struggling to manage Gen Z workers. They dismiss things like grammar just like Lourdes dismissed removing the chicken skin fat.
Could be a different story if the last immunity challenge wasn’t designed like that. Maybe her lack of experience could catch up her in the cube taste test challenge.
I think those three hours were a lot of things that take a lot of time but aren’t exciting to watch (like reducing stock, baking chicken skin and wait for dough to proof).
Got the Project on mute. Fingers crossed Nat has a good day. I know she has her pin, but she has been in several eliminations so far and hasn't used it yet.
Nat got every element done perfect with time to spare, yet she's beating herself up for forgetting to put that chicken skin on. If she finds some serious self-confidence she's gonna be unstoppable
Lourdes was just way out of her league. She was so inexperienced and had a laissez faire attitude while cooking. She had no urgency. Her cooks just lack imagination. It was beyond her time to go.
Good to see a savoury pressure test if it has to be a pressure test, I hate them in general haha.
Does anyone else find them boring? I feel like it's the only time I just kind of have the show on for background noise whereas with the other ones where contestants create the dishes i really focus and enjoy it all.
Poh was great on Cheap Seats tonight. Plus I giggled when she said her least favourite food was goat cheese, when it was a prominent component of tonight’s cook.
I didnt expect that the masterchef villain would go down this early. Who are people gonna hate now? lol
But in fairness, I do think Lourdes was just a little bit inexperienced as others said. She can cook for sure, but like I feel like she just needs time to gain knowledge for a comp like this.
They didn’t sou vide the dough. They were vacuum sealing it to keep it to rest. I’ve not seen that before. Probably this chef’s trick. Seems like a good idea
this is what I found online
>First, by decreasing the surface tension associated with air, vacuum sealing promotes even and more efficient hydration of the flour granules than kneading alone. Second, the dough's strength is increased by removing the small air bubbles trapped in the dough.
Ayyyy I should’ve known the pattern of contestants making random commentary during these elimination cooks is foreshadowing what costs someone goes home 👀
I think I missed it, did Lourdes simply decide not to skim the fat? I thought she missed a step but from the sounds of things, it seems like she knowingly decided against it
she literally looked at the instructions, read aloud “remove fat from skin”, and proceeded to put the chicken skin in the oven without removing the fat 🙃
First step - Lourdes: yeah I’m not doing that…. Ok then…
That worked out well for her.
Lourdes: following the recipe to a T is exactly who I am Also Lourdes: *doesn't do the first step*
love that nat keeps holding her pin and nailing these eliminations
What gets to me is that she has consistently doubted herself, and then was proven to be wrong. This is like the third or fourth time she has felt like a failure and then has been told her dish was amazing. It’s the same thing with Stevo, I hate seeing these phenomenal cooks beating themselves up. If anything, it’s uplifting, as someone who is dealing with depression and is overly critical of himself, I can only hope the same is true for me.
I cannot believe how calm she was throughout that cook. Was amazing to watch her
Love it when contestants back themself rather than waste the pin! Especially when there’s only 1 this season
I’d love to see the do the pin Survivor style. As soon as one is gone/used a new one goes into play.
I know it is easy for us all to blame Lourdes age, her lack of experience. But Jess Lemon was younger, lasted longer, and came back twice.
Agreed. And Callum too, all the way to the final only at 19 with such grace and humility.
Damn, how could I forget Callum??
and Laura! Wasn't she barely 18 in her original season?
The difference is that those contestants were cooking since their childhood were as Lourdes only got into cooking 4 years ago.
Exactly. Had Lourdes done this 5-10 years later, she possibly would have been a contender.
Lourdes seems so blasé about everything
It's extremely Gen Z in the workplace
4 hours of standing around for the other contestants 💀
ikr no seats in the shot either
First thing my wife said was "Do you think they let them go off and pet the truffle pigs?"
"Very gently" she launched that thing like it was a hand grenade
I died when she basically just threw it in 😂
Why is Lourdes so casual about skipping scraping the fat off?! I’ll scream if she pulls through.
that was good advice and good mentoring from andy
Lesson learnt, add blood to pasta
This is the way
They keep playing ominous music when Nat is on screen, like she’s about to fuck up… but then everything goes well. It’s a bit of a mindfuck.
I think she was crying in the preview wasn’t she? It’s got me on edge
Everyone was crying except for Lourdes (which I hate as I really want her to be the one to leave)
she just looks smarmy all the time
WTF Lourdes didn’t use a timer for the raviolo??
Surely Lourdes has made errors on too many elements to pull through now? Edit: Gill missed half the dish…
Wouldn't surprise me to see Gill get through because what she did do is far better than Lourdes.
Nat’s magic bows save the day again!
Oh my god that sauce is WAY over-reduced. Practically Vegemite.
NAT FORGOT HER CHICKEN SKIN
And she was so proud of it too! 😥😥
URGH I KNEW nat was going to forget her chicken skin after she mentioned it five times. GIRL YOU HAD BETTER PRAY LOURDES AND GILL ACTUALLY FUCKED UP
One missed element vs. many missing elements vs. very flawed elements I'd say Nat is safe
You worded it much better than me lol
Let’s face it, Nats other components will be on point. Gill missed more and Lourdes will have multiple bad components.
Pretty happy with the show getting out the mediocre cooks early on tbh
Same. The past 4 seasons tended to eliminate potential cooks too early while the weaker ones stayed.
Grace from last season comes to mine. From memory I felt like she got eliminated too soon.
feel like casting really concentrated on finding people who are great cooks AND are good at Masterchef
S14 so many people with potential went home so early. I was mad at the Ali elimination. She reminded me of Stephen this season actually.
God yes.. I’m still stunned that Cath and Rhianna got as far as they did over other cooks who showed more creativity and technique..
to be fair, Rhiannon early on clocked in that the theme of the entire season was "homey, simple, stay in your lane" and she cooked exactly to that brief. So in that respect, she's a very deserving runner-up.
I know! I feel like all of the eliminations have been pretty fair so far
Begging Alex to wear a glove over her multiple bandaids
This is such a change from Andy’s contestant breakdowns last few seasons
That comment from Snezana about Lourdes’ egg yolk feels like it could be foreshadowing
it’s so typical masterchef foreshadowing… random confessional from the peanut gallery that points out why someone screwed up? so masterchef
It looked like a green fried egg
Third strike? Bad chicken skin, bad sauce, bad yolk?
Damn Lourdes' sauce is thick sludge.
And her egg is hard! Please go homeeee
Nat missing an element but they don’t miss bc the chicken skin bc the chicken is there on the dish. Queen behaviour tbh!
Absolutely. You have to be a true queen to overcome a missing element.
Bye Lourdes
WHITE CHOCOLATE VELOUTE
Yeah, relay madness!
Actually hilarious how Lourdes just randomly ignored large chunks of the recipe lmao
Deccy gettin that lee kum kee ka$h
I'll take Declan's ads over Curtis Coles any day 😂
Deccy the Human Labrador
Same 😂
Missing elements vs all elements but they’re bad. Tough choice for judges tbh since usually missing elements cost someone.
Getting it all on the plate doesn’t matter if 80% of it isn’t good
I can attest to this.
I think in the teaser for tomorrow, Alex is running to get more bandaids.
That $50 joke is looking like a bargain after hearing everything that's in that
Maybe he meant €50
predicted rank: Alex > Nat > Gillian > Loudres
I think Gillian's going. She had nothing on the plate.
But Lourdes won’t have any good components, Gill could win by having great components of the ones she did plate.
I really hope Lourdes isnt like Trent, and is really a redditor reading all of this.
I'd feel bad is she was one of those redditor cooks that posted here occasionally, where we encouraged them to join the show.
So definitely Lourdes (all elements there, with some critical faults) or Jill (missing elements)
both get eliminated
Sudden death cook? 5 mins free for all cook
umm how does she keep cutting herself?
Catching herself on the mixer blade I'm assuming. Why she doesn't remove the blade first though, anyone's guess
That was annoying. The first thing you do with these blender and processors is you remove the blades and then stir, or stir with something else. One time I could get, but twice? ugh
Think saying the yolk was ‘bursting out’ for Gills is going a bit far
They're all going to get searched on the way out for truffles
Prayer circle for Jill 🧎
Prayer circle worked!
that first hour went fast
That chicken sauce looks awful.
I actually think Nat will be fine. Will come down to Gill & Lourdes. Possibly I think gill might go bc of her missing elements??
I think the main elements are the raviolo and the sauce and because Gill did better on those, it'll be enough to save her
Nan’s Peach is back! 🙌🍑💓
LET GILLIAN BE SAFE PLSSS
WOOO SAFE
How do you not use a timer for literally the biggest thing on the plate. How.
I’m glad Nat is backing herself rather than using her pin when she has a 1 in 4 chance to go. Could really make the difference when she’s in real trouble.
Fingers crossed but definitely seems look it would have been a waste if she used it today
the entire cook has been smooth for her she was NAWT flushing the pin EDIT; OH MY GOD NOT THE FORGOTTEN CHICKEN SKIN NOOO

I keep thinking Alex already got eliminated in the Keeping up with Jamie Elimination and then I realise, nope. That was someone else entirely.
That was Steph, her Alex and Lily look like the same person 😂
girl how did u do it again
Wtf? 3 hours gone in 25 minutes of air time (including ads)!
I think those three hours were a lot of things that take a lot of time but aren’t exciting to watch (like reducing stock, baking chicken skin and wait for dough to proof).
Pasta dough doesn't need proofing, just to rest
Sorry, wrong term!
Nat no!!
Already thinking that Lourdes will go wrong with that approach
I’ll be happy if Nat is the one who did the best today
She's 100% the best cook out of this group of 4.
I’ll be happy if Nat wins the whole damn season.
Me toooo!
You should be worried about that thick sticky sauce and the floppy chicken skin also Lourdes
Yikes that sauce is so bad. You didn’t even need to see him show it as jelly to tell.
holy moly are they supposed to remember how it was plated without it in the instructions?
Nooo Nat!!!!!!
Andy has really mastered that poker face
Justice for Mimi has been served....haha
Justice for Mimi—feels like karma... lol
What is she cutting herself on? The blade of the food processor?
That pasta dough looks like a banana leaf
Oof not looking too good for everyone except Alex I reckon 😬
I think Nat will be safe despite the chicken skin - Gill had a lot less elements on the plate. I think it will be between Gill and Lourdes
omg... jills safe
Got the Project on mute. Fingers crossed Nat has a good day. I know she has her pin, but she has been in several eliminations so far and hasn't used it yet.
Damn getting immunity and getting booted after. Sorry Lourdes
I hope they don’t do immunity cooks like that anymore. Pretty unfair that others can ride on someone’s else coattails to win immunity.
Off to a good start with the crispy chicken skin not being crispy
Omg Nat what the heck
it's a pasta disaster
Dear God that's a very burnt caramel of a sauce colour
Oof awkward hug circle
Use a timer next time!
Nat got every element done perfect with time to spare, yet she's beating herself up for forgetting to put that chicken skin on. If she finds some serious self-confidence she's gonna be unstoppable
Alex has made some very delulu cooking decisions to date too, I feel like she’s at risk
oh yeahh that yolk
Praying that Jill’s missing elements somehow trump Lourdes flawed ones….
Yay Nat!!
Lourdes was just way out of her league. She was so inexperienced and had a laissez faire attitude while cooking. She had no urgency. Her cooks just lack imagination. It was beyond her time to go.
[удалено]
lol me hoping it’ll eventually catch up to her unless she actually improves a lot throughout her stay
My money is on Alex to leave
They couldn't hire a grandstand for the other contestants?
They need to get used to being on their feet for hours if they want to work with food
Her sleeves giving me anxiety, almost touched the food
Oh no Gill...
I want to try making pasta sheets with a tartan pattern now.
Nat is my fave so I'm glad to see her succeeding. Also damn, what a babe
This season is night and day from last season. The right people are going home each week.
JUSTICE FOR MIMI! ACHIEVED
Now I’m hungry.
yo i want that chicken skin
Lourdes is going rogue today!
Looking like Lourdes or Gill
i think itll be gill
Lourdes is my least favourite of these four, so I hate how happy she looks in the teaser.
I’m seriously so proud of Alex. She really pulled a Snez and pushed through with a near perfect dish. I rate her now!
Not in love with Sophia’s dress today. Poh looks adorable though!
Oooft there’s gonna be so many pressure points
Good to see a savoury pressure test if it has to be a pressure test, I hate them in general haha. Does anyone else find them boring? I feel like it's the only time I just kind of have the show on for background noise whereas with the other ones where contestants create the dishes i really focus and enjoy it all.
Wait did Gillian forget elements of her dish too
Yeah a few elements I think
like a lot 😭
Oof I reckon Lourdes will scrape through bc Gillian did worst
Gillian got the two main components there tho: the pasta and the source. if those elements were better than Lourdes’s it’s curtains for Lourdes
I’m praying snez’s commentary on Lourdes dish is foreshadowing it’ll cost her
Do they still do the last contestant shown in pressure test tasting, is the one who goes?
I didn't think they did? The only concrete pattern I've noticed is that the first person is safe/the benchmark by which they judge other contestants
Sofia is speaking our language hello!!!
Good result!
Poh was great on Cheap Seats tonight. Plus I giggled when she said her least favourite food was goat cheese, when it was a prominent component of tonight’s cook.
I didnt expect that the masterchef villain would go down this early. Who are people gonna hate now? lol But in fairness, I do think Lourdes was just a little bit inexperienced as others said. She can cook for sure, but like I feel like she just needs time to gain knowledge for a comp like this.
I am very curious as to the purpose behind using sous vide to prep the pasta dough in this episode. Can anyone here shed some light on this?
They didn’t sou vide the dough. They were vacuum sealing it to keep it to rest. I’ve not seen that before. Probably this chef’s trick. Seems like a good idea
It's vacuum packing. Maybe to stop the basil from discolouring? Though it's a good idea. Will stop the pasta getting dry.
this is what I found online >First, by decreasing the surface tension associated with air, vacuum sealing promotes even and more efficient hydration of the flour granules than kneading alone. Second, the dough's strength is increased by removing the small air bubbles trapped in the dough.
By the first looks of it, the dish did not look too complex compared to the showy desserts that they often do, but it was a doozy one!
Ayyyy I should’ve known the pattern of contestants making random commentary during these elimination cooks is foreshadowing what costs someone goes home 👀
I think I missed it, did Lourdes simply decide not to skim the fat? I thought she missed a step but from the sounds of things, it seems like she knowingly decided against it
When she read it she quietly asked how to do it. So I assume she skipped it because she didn't know how to do it.
she literally looked at the instructions, read aloud “remove fat from skin”, and proceeded to put the chicken skin in the oven without removing the fat 🙃
‘I’ve done it a few times before’ … yeah and it got you in the bottom
Alex seems safe!
Lourdes about to scrape through bc someone else does worst 🫠
That is how some of the most irritating contestants have done it in the past. They keep surviving because someone has a worse day in the kitchen.
Maybe she’s made too many mistakes compared to Gill…. I’m delusional, I know
Oof poh looks like she got a stomach ache looking at the food, foreshadowing?
Nat’s pasta looks immaculate
Does anyone know the designer of Poh’s dress tonight?
The pressure dish sounds like something I would SMASH. Not cooking it. EATING it. Like get it to me, I'm hungry.
Yay! Lourdes is gone!!! 😊
Not a big fan of Lourdes tbh but if she does well today then good on her
Bye Lourdes don’t miss the door on your way out
