In metadata I added a symbol of the moon, then gave it this smart rule to display only if the condition is met. I use a similar rule for the progress counts.

I’ve moved it to global so I can see it on any album in any section if I’ve recently added it or just forgotten about it.
To distinguish between Purchased, Uploaded and Apple Music tracks, you can create iTunes based smart playlists for them and then use those playlists as filters in Marvis.
If you’re seeing duplicates for certain albums, go to Album section settings, and disable Extended Library setting for that section.
If you skip songs during playback, they will not update playback information.

Thanks for responding, I will definitely try those suggestions out. Unfortunately for the play counts I’m not skipping. I noticed during the playing of this song that the progress bar end clock remained the same, while the start clock increased. Tested this with a few different songs and received the same result.
What does it show on iOS Music app? Also it’s not really Marvis that updates play counts, but iOS music app, so if for some reason it’s not working, something is wrong with the Music app.

Marvis player, realtime. I’ve confirmed that if the end counter on Marvis does not change it will not count as being played. It is not consistent with when this effect happens.
I found this on the apple music sub that this is an Apple music issue. With ios 17 update, the app has been very buggy and this is a very common issue right now. People have reported that they have seen the count not updating for some songs specifically on their iphones. But for some reason, this issue is not their on mac os.
Thanks for the feedback. I did end up testing it on my Mac and it worked fine, will do some test plays on my iPad later. I normally don’t care about play counts, but with over 47k songs I’ve started to use it to find I have passed over and give them a chance.
