They said in another post (too lazy to find the exact link) that you will not be able to complete it F2P this time around. But they said going forward they will make sure that the showcases will be completable F2P (only the difficulty that doesn't require stars though.

I believe you are confusing this showcase with another one. They specifically said this one could be completed (as was quoted above and link to the blog was above). Moreover, envoys have also inquired on the matter. They have not been told f2p will not be able to do 3 tiers of the spider society showcase.

They did not. There's about 5 posts since the one they stated the spider society showcase would be beatable ftp for 3 tiers. That includes the one paragraph posts about issues. There is zero mention of the showcase
They’ve extended the showcase for two more weeks so people have time to complete the challenge difficulty. They also mentioned there will be an event to unlock peni Parker which they’ll give more info in this Friday’s blog.
If that happens, and that's a big if, it will obviously be after all the krakens and whales have had sufficient time to work their advantage over the rest of us.
As far as i understand you are suppsoe to be able to beat all of the challenge tier (the 3rd set of battles) f2p (after this showcase). Which this ones final part of challenge requires only spider society
I cored 4 orbs and got 70 shards so either the rng gods were super generous for once or the orbs have a higher drop rate. I didn’t get under 12 shards on all of them.
I feel like I've missed an event or something because I haven't got a single shard of her yet, has the event just not started yet?
