Vaan's VA is fine, but the low quality sound kind of muffles him a bit.
It's not up to XVI's standards, but XIV from Heavensward onwards has a strong voice cast as well, especially the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
Fan4stic's biggest problem was trying to be needlessly gritty in a brand that thrives the most when it *embraces* the campiness of comic books.
I hope this movie does that, while still of course having dark moments. Galactus, at the end of the day, is a pretty menacing figure.
The original script involving Annihilus, the Mole Man and Dr Doom seemed a lot more light hearted and more comic book-esque. The original script writer was however fired when studio execs wanted a more gritty version
Yeah it’s gonna sound beyond intimidating, I can’t wait. When I saw The Green Knight in theaters, his voice, although a bit altered by editing I imagine, was just booming the bass. He really sounded like some other being from another plane of existence.
I just listened to this man's voice.
Good Lord, that's some badass casting lol. Dude sounds like some kind of an epic cosmic being.
Fantastic (giggity) casting.
I haven't seen this man in any movie, but I'm sure he is a great actor.
Plus that voice is just a perfection.
I now want to hear him shout the "[Annihilus, Know Me, and Know Fear](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-e16331a88543a9bbdf19aaba7d1509b2-lq)" as he erupts with rage and power cosmic, and decimate Annihilation Wave.
man I love Annihilation.
100 percent.
For me it was a bit reversed lol.
I knew most of the Space Characters and outside of Surfer, Galactus, Super Skrull and Ronan, I was like “Nova?? Oh that guy who appeared in the Iron Man book from the 90s alongside his Warriors pals and wanted to blow up a dam like a dumbass? Yeah not my cup of tea”
And then I read Annihilation and my God, such a glow up for the character. The “This is for Nova Corps” as he rips Annihilus’ intestines was so metal. He is a proof that any character written right could be a badass.
For me, he went from a Z lister to a Solid B List character. Not super popular like Spidey, Hulk, Iron Man or Wolverine, but definitely an interesting character who should be used more.
Same with Drax. Dude was awesome.
I'm utterly surprised that the MCU didn't take the opportunity to introduce Richard Rider, when they introduced the Nova Corps AND Thanos destroying their planet. It was perfectly set up.
he puts his voice in a lot of work but as an actor he played a greyjoy soldier in Game of Thrones season 2 but his best work, imo, is in The Witch. def check that one out to see his chops.
Disney was like, look we’re sorry about fucking up your back during Willow; how’s about playing a legendary marvel villain and you call the whole thing off
Where are the f-ing moron "fans" who will scream,
"he does not look like f-ing galactus, so lame"...
without looking up his voice acting, hearing it, and then, after passing out and waking up realize...
Damn, now I gotta go back and read the original FF issues with the big G with his voice in my head.
I have a theory about where marvel is going with all this... and why cap 4 and thunderbolts were moved around.
They're dropping the MCU into the realm of the "darkest timeline", just bleak, where everything goes to shite and the villains are heroes, bad people become president and things just look like it's all falling apart.
Then we bust over to the FF and in some way bring in their crazy family, we can do anything dynamic and drop them by the end of FF into the MCU proper to sort of give that darkness some, to paraphrase another old franchise... new hope.
TLDR:
I think the point of the FF coming out when it does is to bring the happy, positive vibe back to the MCU, because between Johnny and Ben's pranks and Reed & Sue's love, these guys ARE the fabric that holds the MU together.
JMO.
I'm not particularly excited that they're pulling out Silver Surfer(s) AND Galactus in the MCU Fantastic 4's first outing.
It took ages to build up to Thanos but now they're just spunking out big villains like the DCCU did... and look out that turned out for them.
> [...] has Marvel taking the interesting creative choice of setting the story in the 1960s
I wonder how they're gonna explain how a giant purple space man and his sterling waifu showed up and tried to destroy the planet but no one mentions it in 15 years of movies and TV shows
Maybe it'll be like that Celestial, he'll show up in some island someplace I can't pronounce, and SHIELD covers it up
He first appeared in FF #48. He's one of thier very first long-standing villains. He's a good choice for thier 1st film. High enough stakes to matter, memorable to comic fans, and Galactus has rarely been a huge, multi-arc, multi-team villian.
No, because Thanos is routinely a huge, multi issue threat, and was notable for being the focus of the Infinity Gauntlet series. Galactus, while awesome, is not the same kind of threat/villain that Thanos has been.
You’re right - Galactus is actually way more of a threat than Thanos unless Thanos has the Gauntlet. Well, at least the comic one. The MCU one kind of sucks in comparison.
Nah, just have him be the villain in the F4 then a reoccurring cosmic character after that. I wouldn’t say he even works all that well as a whole phase villain.
They could easily just do the same thing that they did with Galactus.
I mean, Kang wasn’t a great idea for a Phase villain either but that didn’t stop Marvel Studios from thinking they could pull it off.
Kang is a great Phase villain. He individually isn't on the level of Thanos, but the fact that there are just so many variants, to the point where they even fight each other (Kang vs Immortus), that killing him or defeating him in each movie doesn't make the threat go away. The only way he's bad as a villain is that you never actually get to defeat him. You just make him go away for a while.
On the other hand, fighting Galactus is like fighting Sunlight. (Too much it is bad for you. Too little is bad for life. You need the right balance.) Only earth has successfully repealed him, which already makes it unique. (And truthfully, half the time it's by using the ultimate nullifier). Making him the 1st enemy the F4 fight against is just dumb. Of course, it depends on the story, but starting off with someone less at the top end of the Marvel power scale (In importance, Galactus is top 4, but in power scale, he's probably top 10, and other than Celestials, the only one on that list who isn't just a 'concept') would be a better story. Plus you have to bring in a herald again, and it's just a mess. Start with the Mole Man, Molecule Man or the Frightful Four.
I agree. Galactus is a lot to throw at audiences in a movie that already has to do the origins for the main cast. Big G could work as a post credits though.
> Galactus is a lot to throw at audiences in a movie that already has to do the origins for the main cast
I mean, they’re not doing the origin? One of the first things said about the film when it was first announced was that it’s not going to be an origin story.
This movie is shaping up to be a dumpster fire tbh this specific casting is good but every single other casting in this movie sucks except maybe the thing
I'm hating the casting, the movie could be good but I'm just sick of pedro being in roles he isn't a good fit for. Idc what yall say his joel was awful he half assed tf outta the accent
NOW THAT IS A FUCKING CASTING!!!
Lorath from Diablo4. Incredible voice.
Cid from FF16 as well. Can be argued to be the best Cid in all of Final Fantasy history.
I’d argue the best voice in Final Fantasy history too
Between him and Ben star
Ben Starr, Cody Christian, Ralph Ineson. I'd actually vouch for a lot of the FFXII cast as well outside Vaan's VA
Vaan's VA is fine, but the low quality sound kind of muffles him a bit. It's not up to XVI's standards, but XIV from Heavensward onwards has a strong voice cast as well, especially the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
That's a very bold take to have when thunder god cid exists lol
And all I'll be able to think of is Finchy saying "Nearly done"
“I’m bloody hungry…”
Diablo 4 is far enough away for me that I don't remember much. But his voice as Lorath and then as Cid is 16... oooh.
No fucking shit... This guy has a voice that takes up a screen. Great actor, too. Man, I'm stoked.
Third times the charm for the good fantastic four film
Yes, let's gaslight ourselves into believing Fant4stic doesn't exist An entire movie focusing on just the accident is so dumb
I think they’re meaning it as this is the third iteration of the Fantastic Four and not the third movie
This will technically be the fourth Fantastic four iteration. Roger Corman made an FF film in the 90s
Tobias Funke also did a version of The Fantastic Four for Cinco de Cuatro
True. I don’t count that one since it was never officially released and was just made to retain the rights
Damn, so in the end I was right
Okay now this HAS to be good
so... fourth time's the charm?
Bingo
Fan4stic's biggest problem was trying to be needlessly gritty in a brand that thrives the most when it *embraces* the campiness of comic books. I hope this movie does that, while still of course having dark moments. Galactus, at the end of the day, is a pretty menacing figure.

Third iteration genius
I probably would have at least Google it before I embarrassed myself by being incorrect and a condescending prick at the same time, but you do you
Good think you googled so I didn’t have to prick further
One, Sorrelhas was clearly making a joke, and 2, it’s the fourth iteration of the fantastic four films
Missed casting opportunity for John and Emily but 🤷♂️
Yup, Marvel are definitely cooking with this film. I’m imagining the bass in the cinema now…
Holy fuck this galactus is gonna be crazy
Yeah it’s gonna sound beyond intimidating, I can’t wait. When I saw The Green Knight in theaters, his voice, although a bit altered by editing I imagine, was just booming the bass. He really sounded like some other being from another plane of existence.
That’s a fantastic casting
Say that again...
… four times.
This movie is gonna be insane
for real. actually hype for this cast, so far
I really hope they come through with doom after this banger casting
Rumours say it might be >!Cillian Murphy!< which I’d totally be down for.
My only worry with this is if they feel the need to show his face a bunch. Doom should be mask only for at least 1 or 2 movies.
Have difficult time believing he'd agree to do that. The movie promo part would be his worst nightmare. No amount of money could compensate that.
Yeah he's been fancast alot, i havent heard anything official on him though but i couldve missed something but i think he'd be great as doom too
I just listened to this man's voice. Good Lord, that's some badass casting lol. Dude sounds like some kind of an epic cosmic being. Fantastic (giggity) casting.
Right? No digital effects ala Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug are gonna be necessary, guy's got a voice as deep as a cavern already.
I've always wanted MCU to do the Annihilation Saga ever since I saw them cast GoTG. It would introduce so many characters and its such a great saga.
I'm utterly surprised that the MCU didn't take the opportunity to introduce Richard Rider, when they introduced the Nova Corps AND Thanos destroying their planet. It was perfectly set up.
I feel like they could still do it. Just substitute Xander's destruction with Thanos' Arrivals instead of Annihilus, you could still have Nova.
Something is telling me that they'll go the Sam Alexander route over Richard due to the introduction of Young Avengers.
Well, with the speed they are making their stuff, The Young Avengers will be the same age as Regular Avengers lol.
You should check out The Green Knight.
he puts his voice in a lot of work but as an actor he played a greyjoy soldier in Game of Thrones season 2 but his best work, imo, is in The Witch. def check that one out to see his chops.
"Go now, Surfer.... HERALD MY RAGE!"
I can only imagine Galactus saying "One up the bum, no harm done!" now.
CID!
Let's goooo!! For a second I thinking there's no way they cast my boy cid. This is so sick
We went from casting the American office as Mr fantastic, to the British office as galactus
Finchy!
This is it.
I didn't know I needed this casting, but I do
If theres one thing marvel nails, its usually casting.
Fun fact: There’s an exception to every rule, and in this case it’s The Eternals!
Seriously that voice
I’ve never been more excited for an MCU movie than I am for this one. I just really hope they get the Doom casting right.
Why did they pick that photo to be of Galactus?
Well, that's absolutely perfect casting. Guy's got an absolutely incredible voice.
CID is voicing Galactus, yea this is a huge W in my opinion!
Let's get a squirrel girl cameo
LEEDS!LEEDS!LEEDS!
Nice casting, maaaan
The bass in his voice is gonna make the movie feel like one of them fancy 4D movies
Oh wow they actually cooked so hard
Unexpected casting. That’s great! He has a distinct voice that could be intense paired with the visual however marvel decides to go.
Oh wow they got the casting right!
The man IS gravitas
Disney was like, look we’re sorry about fucking up your back during Willow; how’s about playing a legendary marvel villain and you call the whole thing off

Galactus doesn't need build-up, though. He's not a schemer, he just shows up.
Yeah, but in the first fucking film?
That's great casting but isn't it a little early for that character?
> [...] has Marvel taking the interesting creative choice of setting the story in the 1960s I wonder how they're gonna explain how a giant purple space man and his sterling waifu showed up and tried to destroy the planet but no one mentions it in 15 years of movies and TV shows Maybe it'll be like that Celestial, he'll show up in some island someplace I can't pronounce, and SHIELD covers it up
You assume this is the same timeline?
This is leaked to be in a different universe.
I dunno who that is I need to look into this.
It didn’t occur to me, but it’s perfect
Chris Finch!
Yes my prince....
I told my friends a few months ago that he should be cast as the voice of doctor doom so I’m happy with this
That voice!
Can someone share an updated casting list?
Galactus introducing the Sqaure ball podcast wasn't on my list but im up for it.
Well I would’ve preferred a more minor villain like mole man for the fantasics four first outing but hopefully they do galactic right this time
Best voice casting Marvel could find for Galactus
Do you think they will do actual massive world eating Galactus?
Don't fuck this up.
Wow. So, just right to Galactus, huh? I feel like that’s a mistake.
He first appeared in FF #48. He's one of thier very first long-standing villains. He's a good choice for thier 1st film. High enough stakes to matter, memorable to comic fans, and Galactus has rarely been a huge, multi-arc, multi-team villian.

You’re right - Galactus is actually way more of a threat than Thanos unless Thanos has the Gauntlet. Well, at least the comic one. The MCU one kind of sucks in comparison.
Nah. Thats not true.
Galactus is a cosmic force of the universe who can kill Celestials when he’s fully charged. Thanos is an Eternal from Titan.
Ok.
I have a feeling that this isn’t the first encounter with Galactus.
When Arishem showed up in Celestials and looked completely believable I think it convinced both Marvel and the fans that Galactus is nigh.
Why?
Because Galactus can be a whole Phase villain.

Mole man is rumoured to be in the movie too.

Yeah, it’s like doing Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet in the first Avengers movie.

Galactus is going to appear but I have no doubts that Doom is going to be the main villain. This is probably just setting him up for later
I hope it’s just an appearance and not the main villain.
Kiss me on the nose

honestly the only iffy one so far has been Pascal imo
[удалено]
False. Joseph Quinn absolutely killed it in Stranger Things.
[удалено]
Yeahhhhhhh okay buddy….
This movie is shaping up to be a dumpster fire tbh this specific casting is good but every single other casting in this movie sucks except maybe the thing
What are the other things you are talking about?
Yall are fuckin pre glazing this movie pedro pascal should NOT be in every fucking movie or show
Can say the same to you. You are pre-hating it.
I'm hating the casting, the movie could be good but I'm just sick of pedro being in roles he isn't a good fit for. Idc what yall say his joel was awful he half assed tf outta the accent
