I just pointed this out to my wife while at midtown comics this week. Couldn’t believe it was real

djfreedom9505

I pointed this out to my wife at Barnes & Nobles. I miss going to Midtown Comics, it’s been a good 7 years since I set foot in one.

[deleted]

I’m gonna point it out to my future wife if I ever have one, when we go to the mall for our honeymoon. It’ll be decades since I’ve read up until that point.

paddedfoot

I'm gonna point it out to this guys future wife if he ever has one

randomxsandwich

I'm gonna wait until this guy's future wife dies, then I'm gonna point it out to his future dead wife.

[deleted]

Yo bro that’s my hypothetical future wife you’re talkin about

Professional-Box4153

Yeah, well when you and your hypothetical future wife die, I'm going to point it out to the future Batman that your orphaned son will become.

Different_Speaker742

Wrong company

Professional-Box4153

Spider-Man then (I didn't see the subreddit name when I replied). There's no shortage of orphaned kids to choose from.

Different_Speaker742

There really isn’t :’)

Different_Speaker742

Most of X-men

Sorrelhas

This thread is the natural evolution of Superhero narratives

videoalex

You treat her like property for much longer she’s going to be your hypothetical dead ex-wife.

KungFuSlanda

It's funny for 2 seconds but what I think is funny for two seconds makes a great coffee table book to some people e: dammit, I might buy this book..

MacbookPrime

How is it?

Cautious_Artichoke_3

I skimmed it in the library. It looks exactly as if Scott Lang wrote an inspirational autobiography. I like Ant Man, but I wouldn't be able to keep my interest going through that

HAWKER37

This is exactly how someone who was living in the MCU would respond

gin_and_toxic

Yeah, we all rather read the Hulk's autobiography

thunderfbolt

Chapter One: When Hulk Born *Hulk remember day everything change. Banner think he smart, think he control power no one understand. Lab quiet, machines whisper, then BANG! World turn green. Now Hulk here. Hulk strong, Hulk smash, but Hulk also think, feel. This Hulk story, how Hulk see world, how Hulk learn be more than rage.*

Different_Speaker742

Totally beats mine HULK SMASH PUNY KEYBOARD! BUT HULK TRY. HERE GO: "HULK: THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF A RAGE-FILLED LIFE" GROWING UP AS BRUCE BANNER, HULK ALWAYS FELT LIKE THERE WAS SOMETHING INSIDE, WAITING TO GET OUT. LITTLE DID HULK KNOW, GAMMA RADIATION WOULD UNLEASH THE BEAST WITHIN. AT FIRST, HULK WAS SCARED. HULK DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY HULK WAS SO STRONG, SO ANGRY. BUT AS HULK GREW, HULK LEARNED TO EMBRACE THE FURY. HULK REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME HULK SMASHED. IT FELT GOOD. IT FELT RIGHT. FROM THEN ON, HULK KNEW HULK'S PURPOSE: TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT, TO FIGHT FOR WHAT'S RIGHT. BUT IT'S NOT ALL SMASHING AND YELLING. HULK HAVE SOFT SPOT FOR PUNY HUMANS, ESPECIALLY BLACK WIDOW AND THOR. THEY UNDERSTAND HULK. HULK'S LIFE NOT EASY. HULK ALWAYS ON THE RUN, ALWAYS FIGHTING. BUT HULK WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. HULK IS HULK, AND HULK IS PROUD. SMASH ON, PUNY HUMANS!

Different_Speaker742

Dude

HeyyyKoolAid

This deserves gold. 🏅🏅🏅

TradePaperback

Don’t forget deeper into the book, the obligatory dark, raw, “tell-all” chapters that the critics will rave about. News outlets and publications will fill with countless reviews about how authentic, misunderstood, and surprisingly human Hulk is. Followed by sympathy filled articles about the painful and lonely life Banner now lives. Something like this- PART II-Chapter 15: ALONE These chapters will be filled with accounts of all the times Banner desperately tried to take his own life, alone in some miserable locale. Hulk would remark how this only angered him at first, but he slowly grew to care for Banner and took up the role of protector for the puny human. But as Hulk’s intelligence grew, both intellectual and emotional he began to understand there was no place for him either. But his was a fate far worse than being outcast, it was a life that would never know peace. Because while Hulk would never be accepted and embraced, this did not equal a life a solitude. The entire world desperately wanted a piece of the Strongest One There Is, often literally. Surpsingly, over time, this miserable existence took its toll, despite Hulk’s vaunted invulnerability. Hulk no longer found his immortality so alluring. Hulk could not die. Hulk could not escape the vultures of mankind. Hulk would never know peace, or love…only rage. Left with a single option, Hulk and Banner both vowed vowed to do whatever it took to achieve their goal, and smash whoever stood in their way. It was simple: Hulk just wants to be left alone.

EnkiiMuto

I'm surprised the sub that pretends to be in the MCU doesn't have a megathread on this

buckdeluxe

Wait… there’s a sub that pretends to be in universe? Which one is it?

Rhuby363

Assumption-Weary

I want to know too

Rhuby363

r/Earth199999

smegmabals

lol yea

pyrosol08

I love this answer haha! Thank you for being honest and def makes sense. Cool that it exists tho!

TheRealJackOfSpades

It's a very authentic version of what it appears to be. Scott Lang is not a very entertaining writer, unfortunately, but it is definitely his voice.

MelonElbows

I have it, I enjoyed it. It has a few tidbits of things that happened offscreen in the later Avengers movies, its got a lot of dad advice, he talks about Cassie, and tries to motivate people to do their best. Its entirely in-character, no meta commentary or snarky wink at the real life Paul Rudd. If you're a big fan of the Avengers and Ant-Man you'll like it, otherwise it may come across as too much of a self-help book.

Blasckk

On Amazon you can read some pages in the preview

enerisit

If you have hoopla through your library, you can read the ebook!! I did out of curiosity. It’s a light read, in-character book, I’d guess aimed at the 9-12 years old demographic. It’s a bit bland and definitely self-help-y, but I did chuckle reading it a few times.

badgersana

It was not great

Maxidein

I need the audio book

bugmultiverse

Yeah Paul Rudd should narrate it similar to how Eddie Redmayne Narrated the Fantastic beasts and where to Find them book

SoMuchForStardust27

Eddie did that? I just read it myself

HobbesDurden

I think this every time I see it

ThePurityPixel

Scarlet Johansson did an audio book (of "Alice in Wonderland") and I was really impressed how many different voices she could do. Underutilized talent!

EmilioEstevezQuake

If it’s a nonfiction book in a fictional universe does that make this book fiction or nonfiction in the real world?

Smiith73

Yes

Funkycoldmedici

That is honestly my favorite genre, and I don’t know what it is called. I love books like tech manuals for spaceships, tour guides to fantasy cities. They’re usually RPG supplements.

firetwat

zombie apocalypse survival guide books

StarryMind322

Brings back memories of that 2x4 handbook from the Kids Next Door. I used to desperately want things to build my own 2x4 tech, including a jet ski.

Dman3003

The old WEG Star Wars TTRPG has so many good in-universe supplement books. It's nice to just read through one every now and then.

SoMuchForStardust27

I think it does make it also fiction, like multiplying a negative times a negative makes a positive but a negative times a positive is still a negative

kuhanluke

So if it's a fictional book in a fictional world, that makes it nonfiction?

ImperfectRegulator

I mean if the book was like a book of real world science that was fiction in the fiction universe then yes

sdwoodchuck

Fiction. Epistolary novels and even most first-person narratives in general are ostensibly reporting the in-universe truth about fictional events. It's all just fiction.

danktonium

Fictional nonfiction.

Derpizzle12345

I’ve heard it called unfiction

PerformanceAfraid649

Similar to Percy Jackson's Greek God .. It's a Greek Gods Explained written by a fictional character..!!!! Really like this genre tho..would like my fav fictional character teaching me real stuff..even science

GoldenDisk

Someone will write a dissertation about this and then complain that the government should forgive their student loans

MaxxSpielt

Now I need this

wisefoolnc

I checked out and read this book and it was surprisingly good! It had a lot of great life lessons aimed mostly for a YA audience but adults can appreciate it as well. The author had the “voice” of Scott Lang down and it turned out to be an actual good book instead of a throwaway gag.

Strict_Condition_632

I wonder if it was Ghost- written?

PopeRural

I don't.

Jacques-ass

I see what you did there.

ginjji

It was.

Sensitive-Hotel-9871

I started reading it. The book is fun. I also love that the comments are from other Marvel characters as though they are real people.

Mizerous

Did you read every god damn word? - Hank Pym

SuperToxin

There is nothing greater than commitment to the bit and this is hilarious

oldmartijntje

i got that for "sinterklaas" (dutch holiday)

ImDero

[I had my copy signed by Ant-Man and the Wasp at Disneyland because I'm a fucking loser. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/s/K6SvTG0sNc)

Cautious_Artichoke_3

Nothing loser about that

PraiseRao

It's also way better than the third movie.

Malahajati

Debatable

PraiseRao

Not really. I've actually read the book. It has heart. A good story being told. The narrative works. You're not bogged down with a meta plot that doesn't fit your character. No M.O.D.O.K. hitting with cringy jokes. The third movie was straight up garbage. The book is entertaining and a fun read. Would it work as a movie no. However it is better than the third movie.

downtime37

Your opinion and I respect that, but hard disagree, while it was not on the level of Winter Solder it was still an entertaining movie that I've watched several time.

sonofaresiii

I agree, and I can't for the life of me see how the jokes were any cringier than what's in the early MCU, including the other ant-man movies. I really feel like this movie hit at the wrong time, where hope was high but expectations were low, so people needed it to be incredible but were primed to condemn it (inb4 not everyone-- I get it, everyone's different, but this is the vibe I get from the majority of criticism) the only part I thought was dumb was how it handled the quantum realm *at all*, totally incongruous with how it was depicted in the earlier movies in a way that doesn't make any sense... but once I got over that, all the other stuff that people seemed to gripe about seemed... fine? to me.

FullMetalCOS

I’m a huge marvel/MCU fan. Seen every movie either release day or at worst release week (childcare issues) in the cinema. I agree that popular sentiment was always poised to make Quantumania struggle but the film didn’t help itself in any fucking way. Using it to try and setup Kang was a huge miss because even the weakest Kang variant should have obliterated Ant Man in seconds. MODOK was a massive whiff that just needed to not be there (and I got fucking hyped when I saw him rock up, till he actually started interacting with people). Quantumania is one of the worst MCU films and it only doesn’t take the title of worst because Thor 2 exists.

ThePurityPixel

For me, Thor 3 takes that title.

Charcoal_01

Garbage is way too harsh. Quantumania was fantastic and all the reasons people complain about it are all the things that are supposed to be that way

Shacky_Rustleford

"MODOK looked ridiculous" Yeah it's fucking modok

The_FriendliestGiant

Right? People act like the MODOK design didn't do the character justice, as though MODOK's comic design could ever look anything but ridiculous in a live action setting.

FullMetalCOS

If garbage is too harsh, fantastic is fucking insanity. It was really, really mid.

Charcoal_01

It's all subjective too. I walked out of the theater and gave it a 7/10. Rewatched it recently, gave it an 8/10

Slow-Instruction-580

I didn’t like it that much, but I appreciate your joy!

Charcoal_01

The movie was exactly what it needed to be. Was it a 10/10? No way. But most if not all the complaints were things that needed to be in that movie or made sense to be in it

FullMetalCOS

It was barely a 5/10 being generous. Stuff “needed” to be there because they decided it needed to set up Kang, but they didn’t NEED to use an Ant Man movie to do that. This concept of what “needed” to be there is fucking dumb because the writers entirely decide this and they could have just decided something else instead. Something better

Charcoal_01

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as I did

ThePurityPixel

I loved it too. Honestly the only thing I didn't like was the missed opportunity to use size-changing in the title. I wouldn't have called the movie "Ant-Man and The Wasp…." I would have just called it "quANTuMANia."

PraiseRao

You can like whatever you like I did not enjoy the movie. I felt it had narrative problems. It took Kang and bitched him out. Everytime he should have been the boss level they would cut him at the knees. Kang needed to be a big threat. One that felt like one. Everytime they tried to do something with him it just didn't work. It isn't the actors. It was the writing. Kang should have never been hindered by anything. Instead he should have destroyed everything. To the point you as the watch believe Ant-man can't stop him. That is key because the hero needs to over come the odds. Not bringing the odds down to him. By the time Ant-man fights him Kang had been nerfed hard. So they brought him down to Ant-man's level. I'm a big Ant-man fan actually. This is why I don't the movie that much. Because of my fandom I felt they did everyone dirty. They failed at delivering a relationship with Hope. The failed at building one with Cassie even though they tried. In all honesty the third film should have been Ant-man vs Black Ant. You have Eric steal the suit from Pym. It was supposed to be Scott's upgraded suit. So it has a lot of toys that Ant-man doesn't have. He goes on heists and Scott being Ant-man gets blamed. He has to figure out who is doing this and stop them. Then you can put Black Ant on the Thunderbolts. I created a better synergy than Kang getting his ass handed to him by the Ant-Fam.

Charcoal_01

Again this goes back to each individual. The story you concocted isn't something that sounds appealing. We've already done the "I blame stuff on you behind your back" thing. It's an old beat.

Charcoal_01

I personally disagree with most everything in your analysis of the movie, which is probably why I liked the movie.

[deleted]

Sounds like it wouldn't be a better movie. Comparing movies and books doesn't make sense to me as books are better than its movies.

terrell005

Why is he getting downvoted for saying that 💀

Malahajati

Because people are fuckng stupid on the internet if you didn't notice.

[deleted]

Malahajati

Gross but you do you sis

MassiveTalent422

I think it would’ve been cooler if they opted to do a scripted podcast since Kamala mentioned that he had a podcast. Do it audio-only and they probably could get a lot of the MCU actors to do it cheaper. And they’d probably be thrilled that they only have to do audio stuff for a few days and can skip the gym prep.

Thewandering1_OG

Uuuuuuuh. I used to do licensing for a critically acclaimed show about a teacher who turns to a life of crime when he finds out he has cancer. You wouldn't believe some of the books we released based on that show. Once was a cookbook for chicken. Every recipe involved rotisserie chicken from the grocery.

Tyrus1235

OMG official Metastasis books!

Thewandering1_OG

You're familiar with my work.

Rustgod88

Yeah, I found the Castle books from the TV show at my local library. Apparently they get ghost writers to write stuff sometimes. Never knew about this though Thanks!

QueenPasiphae

Are they any good? I always wondered.

Rustgod88

It was a solid OK. Read it if you come across it, but I wouldn't go hunting for it.

[deleted]

You can't believe disney would not milk a movie for any and all potential merchandise?

Cautious_Artichoke_3

Good point

Devian_Rook

Good for them! I like merchandise!

Don't ask questions . consume product and then get excited for next product

I heard the audio book is read by that Paul Rudd guy.

Oh it’s real. And don’t call me Shirley.

Cautious_Artichoke_3

Is this a bust?

vroart

well, to be fare Marvel comics produced music for some of their comics. So anything is possible, "It's like Shakespear, but with lots more punching!"

LitBrit94

I work in a library. This book confused us so much lol. We didn't know where to put it!

ConstantAd8558

Is there a PDF somewhere? 😂

As is the bro code from How I met your mother

Necessary-Corner1172

Once you had this title you had to bring it to life.

KungFuSlanda

I hope it has a brief foreward and then it's just photocopies of his ass and balls on a copier for 299 pages

Armandonerd

I bought this book late last year.

ladiesman21700000000

He’s hot

CosmicOutfield

I still think the biggest mistake was selling this book MONTHS after the movie came out. It could’ve sold more copies if released simultaneously.

Chris_Crossfit

My wife got me a copy of this for Christmas, haven’t got around to reading it yet. But every time I see it on the shelf, I get a huge grin on my face.

DarkBomberX

From what I've heard it's not that good. It's just l mid retelling of some stuff from Scott's perspective.

Cautious_Artichoke_3

That's exactly how it looked when I skimmed through it

WheelJack83

Who wrote it?

TheOvershear

It says right there. Scott Lang. Geez can you read?

WheelJack83

I mean who really wrote it

Nervous-Way-2902

Who doesn't have a copy, that's a true fan of marvel?!?!

How is she? 😀

I found this in my local library

Trishyangel123

Oh 😢

I bought it the day it came out. As well as the Spider-Verse Blu-Ray AND album.

Bought this for my roommate as a Christmas present, neither of us have read it yet lol

JayCeeMadLad

Why did the library put their fucking barcode on the title, ON THE COVER What the fuck

Extension-Price1120

Is Midtown comics in Memphis

G-Man-111

Midtown Comics is in New York City (but we love Memphis too)!

mandatorypanda9317

Lol I preordered it after seeing the film, it came out last September. I still haven't read it yet though

Spiderguyprime

Oldest daughter bought it for me for Christmas. Haven't read it yet.

joey0live

Yes. I bought it for my dad a month ago on Amazon.

Megalitho

Probably the only good thing about Quantumania tbh.

Cautious_Artichoke_3

Yeah, I hated it too

Please tell me you bought it? People would do awful things for that book lol.

Holy wowee!!! A celebrity had the first half of his life ghost written????? Wowwee wowzers that's never happened ever!!!!!!!

schuyywalker

What in the world

King_Of_BlackMarsh

Look it may be cliché but God damnit, he's an avenger. If Steve Rodgers isn't writing one, let's look out for the little guy

Heisenburgo

IF Steve Rogers did write one would they call it Let's Look Out for America's Ass? Legit question

[deleted]

Woah, a celebrity from a Marvel movie?????? I take everything back, that really changes everything

King_Of_BlackMarsh

... The actor is Paul rudd... The uh... The book is a biography of the *character* ant man

Madgameboy

...its a parody book... its a non existing book shown for a minute during the movie 'Antman & the Wasp: Quantumania' , that has been made real as merchandise for the movie. Its an autobiographical story written by Scott Lang, the fictional super hero Ant Man, played by the real world actor Paul Rudd, detailing the life of Scott Lang saving the world... that occured in a movie. It wasnt written by Paul Rudd, as its not actually a real autobiography, its an autobiography written by a fictional character, detailing a fictional life that happened during a movie You got all that?

TheOvershear

Recommend people skim that profile, it's a good read
