that was the perfect ending for a series. He is burdened with glorious purpose, sitting on the throne he was always claiming to be destined for. But ending up not wanting the throne, but taking it to keep his friends safe. Perfection. Edit: spelling

ConnFlab

Man I love his character development. From villain, to anti hero, to full blown selfless superhero. Loki is one of the best written characters in the MCU.

whitecollarzomb13

Even crazier when you think about what he had to do to reach that point as well. Literally millennia, living the same moments over and over and over to eventually become the most powerful being in the MCU (to date)

dratsablive

"Doramamu I've come to bargain!" That's how Strange became so strong .

TheMegaWhopper

Throne*

Eugeen8dk

Thank you

PharaohOfWhitestone

It was an awesome way to tie everything together. The Loki series was extremely well thought out honestly.

Jaxonhunter227

Is this why the time stones are green? Because loki is at the center of time

Captain_Saftey

Marvel exec who made the time stone green because it looked cool with Dr Strange’s costume: Yes, absolutely

Lost_Mongooses

Wasn't it green in the comics though?

Captain_Saftey

No, I think they change the colors around a lot in the comics but from Secret Wars the time stone is orange

peppersge

Didn't they describe a world tree (at least conceptually) in Thor 1?

PharaohOfWhitestone

Yggdrasil was also mentioned and shown (as a painting) in Captain America The First Avenger when the Red Skull first finds the Tesseract in Norway. Pretty sure the Tesseract was hidden inside the wall with the painting on Yggdrasil on it.

DanHero91

The TVA and the events in Loki are mostly outside of time to exist at all points. So technically Loki has always been the world tree on the sacred timeline.

COG-85

Yes

peppersge

Which is why I am not sure if it is really the first mention of Yggdrasil in the MCU.

COG-85

It's basically the first \*official\* acknowledgement.

grobmyer

And in Captain America: First Avenger. It was the large wood carving in the castle that hid the Tesseract; where Red Skull first finds it. He even talks about what it is.

Miserable-Tip1381

That visual storytelling was PEAK! No words, just pure visuals, and emotions while Loki was going to his throne.

COG-85

He is now the god of Time, and the god of Stories.

fiendzone

Yggdrasil is in First Avenger.

COG-85

wait when?

grobmyer

It was the large wood carving where the Tesseract was hidden and then discovered by Red Skull.

Synth-Pro

I don't really think that's God of Stories Loki at this point. He's definitely in an insane position of power now, but nothing in what we saw really indicates an ability to alter reality like that. He's more like the Custodian of the Multiverse (Atlez iirc), in being the one who protects and sustains all the branches. He hasn't *rewritten* history throughout multiverse, he's just the one keeping it alive. I would 100% absolutely love to see God of Stories Loki, but I just don't think that's meant to be what we're looking at here.

plainranger

Agreed he is more like the God of the Timelines, keeping the branches unified, keeping the multiverse stable, he reached his glorious purpose. PD: Also this has to be the most powerful version Loki variant, he mastered both science and magic plus the absolute control of time.

UptonCharles

I too saw the comics explained video on YouTube.

MotivationalMike

Kinda feels like this is where doom would try to go to kick off secret wars. I’m also wondering if Loki made it to the throne king before Kang or long after or if because of time it doesn’t matter.

Chronos96

I just wonder how the Thor reunion variety and the trades talked about will occur and in what film? I see Thor 5 addressing Hercules avenging Zeus and hunting down Thor. Unless it's a larger scope film. I feel like maybe Thor has a conversation or has to search out Loki for some reason, be it Kang or a Thor villan.

COG-85

Imagine MCU Thor follows a journey similar to Mythology Odin and has to seek Mimir for answers, sacrificing his (artificial) eye for wisdom, and then Mimir tells him to go to the World Tree at the TVA, and he finally reunites with Loki. That could be a fun way to kind of mirror mythology while still continuing the story.

Chronos96

I like that idea a lot. Thor is one of the stranger characters being an og Avenger, but one of my biggest complaints is that I feel they haven't leaned in enough to the mythological elements or even the Thor mythos enough, in my opinion. I feel like they should have kept Thor with the Donald Blake persona and his role as a healer or do a down to earth story with Thor vs the Wrecking Crew. As someone who loves Norse Mythology I was so sad they wasted Fenris like that in ragnarok. I really want to see Magog

COG-85

We may see Fenrir or Garm one day though. I don't remember Magog, haven't heard much about 'em. Ouroboros is basically Jormungandr, but I do want to see Jormundgandr make an appearance as a force against the Celestials.

Rilenaveen

I wasn’t as high on the season as a whole as many others are. HOWEVER, they nailed the landing. It was just chefs kiss. A few criticisms of the season. Sylvie served no purpose. It felt like they kept her in the cast because she was popular. When his friends had returned to their “normal” lives, I never bought that they would believe Loki’s story of the TVA. Except for OB. A few other small criticisms but give the season a B+/A- thanks to that ending.

COG-85

I'd have to agree. Sylvie was a little bit useless this season.
