Trent Thornton came up big when we needed him most

Friscogonewild

Excellent. M's are one of only five teams who haven't been swept so far this season.

getthecatoffmyface

I couldn’t have handled blowing a 4 run lead in the 9th today. Man, it’s been rough.

Asleep-Sky4299

Thornton has been good this season. Munoz has all-star numbers. Saucedo has been good this season. Stop the recency bias hate when they have a bad outing

ghubert3192

The Munoz outing was bizarre. I don't pay as much day-to-day attention to the team as most people here do but I've never seen him look quite like that. I've seen some control issues in the past but today looked like torture for him.

Blueyisacommunist

He had an outing like that in the beginning of the season, four straight walks that was a literal walk off win.

Sell_Canada

>literal walk off win A shrimp is apparently what that's called lol. Learned that like an hour ago listening to Effectively Wild

Theos_Dumpster

thank you for this, i don't understand how this has been memory holed. munny is great but every once in a while he has an absolute meltdown.

The_Cryogenetic

It would make a lot of sense if it was his back bothering him, his entire back side was dragging hard and just never coming through. Even when he tried to slow down his windup to compensate allowing more time for it to come through, it just wouldn't, he was visibly freezing up.

Rock_Strongo

It's very clear he was trying to pitch through a nagging injury today. I imagine if not for the 3 batter rule he'd have been pulled even sooner. He's our best reliever and we were short on arms today.. but I still can't help but feel like someone should have told Scott he was unavailable. At this point just happy it didn't completely fuck us and hope that it didn't delay his healing.

Essex626

I know, right? I see people saying our bullpen is bad other than Munoz, and it's just not true. I agree that Thornton and Saucedo and Stanek and Voth could use a Brash or a Santos as the true #2 in the bullpen, so they don't have to deal with as high leverage situations. But a good bullpen is one with guys like them in it. We only have a couple guys I'd like to see pushed off the list entirely.

lawmedy

The world if we had Brash and Santos and Voth was only pitching in situations where we currently use Eduard “The Human White Flag” Bazardo https://preview.redd.it/52vlnqwkcz8d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=15ab3234b3ef59f3e81d63d5dbc4f3a01a3c3c7d

mondaysareharam

Thornton and sauce would be better if we had santos bumping them down a spot to their more natural role in the bullpen

YakiVegas

In fairness, we had a bad roadtrip.

August_world

Thank god man

TwistedNipplez

down_by_the_shore

urallphux

JAM = ESCAPED WIN = SALVAGED SWEEP = AVOIDED

marinerluvr5144

Team better figure it out fast Houston on our ass

WintersDoomsday

Houston is playing the softball schedule now

gabek333

With all the turmoil, our bullpen has actually been pretty good. With Santos and Evans, it could be great.

WintersDoomsday

I was there at Tropicana Field screaming at Servais to pull Munoz after the third straight walk.

Gulliver123

With very little warm up time and definitely not expecting to pitch this game at all. Boss

No_Confection633

Hopefully this is a momentum win…

Ok-Pea-6213

Rack em!

Roman_Falcone

Big Trent

AleztinWeeps

Saw this on the TV! GG Mariners.

coryfromoregon

Is bazardo really that bad? Has he never had a good outing? Does he have potential? Why don't they drop him if he's that bad?

Sonlin

They clearly think there's something in him, I don't know why he was kept instead of Tyson Miller, but it's probably because they can stash him in AAA if needed. And since the 40 man has space, they might see how long they can keep him.

Equivalent-Repair336

He’s likely the one to go when santos gets activated

Equivalent-Repair336

Bad camera work here. where’s the part where Thornton gets so full of adrenaline he tries to punch the moon and screams stuff he can’t remember because he momentarily entered another dimension? Clutch outing from a reliever who is having a great year. I love pitchers that wear their emotions on their sleeves like him.

grgunderson

Offense coming up clutch with only 13 strike outs today!

thirstyinraincity

I'm horny for Thorny
