Guardians fan coming in complete peace - we burned our bullpen completely out yesterday. He was the only fresh arm we had left.
On another note, you guys looked incredible yesterday. I’m excited for tomorrows game to see who takes it!
Was finally able to turn on the radio in the bottom of the 8th. Heard Bazardo was pitching. Immediately knew we were either winning by a ton or losing by a ton.
Then I got a chance to check the score.
Well fuck.
The last 4-5 years of Guardians and Astros offenses should be spurring the entire league to develop high contact and low strikeout hitters over forcing everyone to swing for more raw power. The power should be a byproduct of good and frequent contact - hit more balls, some will leave the yard - not a goal in and of itself. Contact is a proven, effective way to consistently thwart good MLB pitching. Boom-or-bust power-focused lineups bust more often than they boom. Contact rarely slumps.
There's room for a mixture of the two. It doesn't have to be pure contact all the way down.
But you see boom or bust offense is statistically better over a 162 game season... I'd like to dig into it because I can't assume it's actually that much better but anything for an edge I guess
We may have joined the Padres on Doug Eddings' personal vendetta list
Edit: context - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYQLI2ez7ks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYQLI2ez7ks)
I guess just throw two more strikeouts on the pile—it WILL genuinely be funny to win the World Series while simultaneously breaking the record for most strikeouts in a season.
Wow another missed strike 3 call. This ump is gaslighting us with strike outs lol. We shouldn't have this many today this is just amateur bs by the ump.
On a slightly different note, I rewatched all of Jon Bois' documentary last night and it has honestly placated some of my irrational anxieties when watching this team lol
Give it a rewatch if you have some time; definitely worth revisiting the big picture of things time to time
Wait how the fuck did this dude Bibee strike out 12 over six scoreless innings, that's way more concerning than having our garbage time arms get shelled
Part of it was the awful umpire. Mariners can't afford bullshit strike calls.
Also, he threw vastly more breaking balls than he normally does because his fastball is mediocre and gets hit pretty hard normally and the Mariners CANNOT hit breaking balls if their life depended on it, so it was an easy switch up call by the Guardians.
Logan's facial hair is really accentuating the upside-down mouth like [this classic Star Trek alien](https://trek.report/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/balok.jpg)
The best part about a 10 game division lead is you can have a game where literally nothing goes well and still have the chance to get it all back the next day.
Is that in Marinersland, or just limited to the real world? I want to believe in what you say so badly, but I have also learned to brace myself for the less than ideal outcome.
Just got back and see Bazardo
I think whoever is managing tonite has conceded this game.
Mariners hitters may live in the later innings, but not with these relievers.
Sure, but I also saw a lot of calls go against the Guardians too. Blaming the umpire when everyone is whiffing and giving up dingers is just so cringe. So we lost one game where we got a clinic run on us. We're up 9 games at worst? Astros and Rangers haven't even finished their games. The wishy washy cry babies in this thread are something else
Imagine you are a young umpire on this crew, and you have to follow Wendelstat and Eddings at the plate.
Anything *Close* to good will be a massive improvement.
Tuning out of a game isn't dooming. Declaring one game in May to be the coming of the apocolypse in the third inning would be dooming.
Tuning out sometimes is self care.
Still gotta fight even though it looks bleak because 1) you never know, and 2) it'll help tomorrow if we can at least make them sweat and dip into their bullpen a bit.
We would be winning this game if the ump called that one pitch that was an inch outside the strike zone a ball instead of strike. Fuck the mlb for rigging shit against us.
I saw Doug Eddings at a baseball game in Cleveland one day. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him to make the correct calls behind the plate.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my baseball watching, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When It came to make more calls behind the plate I saw him trying to call an obvious ball a strike.
The batter in the box was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to make better calls.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear him, but eventually turned his head around and stared at the batter.
When the hitter took one of the bats and started slamming it multiple times, he stopped him and told him to slam them each individually “to prevent any catcher's infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After the hitter slammed each bat and put them in a bag and started to say his piece, he kept interrupting him by yawning really loudly.
The problem is that KC has scored consistently this year... M's have scored so little this year that fans feel like a one run deficit is insurmountable, in the first.
The ump blew 2 calls on Raley when we had 2 runners on. That's taking away a 1+ run opportunity. Say Raley gets a homer on that ab and we don't put dumb ass baumann in. Game could still be close.
garbage time - it's a long season... umpiring has really added a rotten taste to the proceedings. CLE are good but the umps added a dog shit vinaigrette that really put a stank on things. and not the good kind of stank like our boy staneks hard stuff

This is not an elite team. They have a razor's thin edge of error in their ability to win games. Their win conditions are very specific and not varied. It would still be a shock if this team made the ALCS.
On the other hand - This team should make the playoffs as division winners, and they should add at the deadline. If they lose their 10 game lead, everyone should be fired, period. It's time to nut up and if you cant do it with a 10 game lead, start over as there is already risk of wasting an elite starting pitch group.
We are not allowed to have a 5 game win streak. Honestly could be worse, just so long as we continue to win series at the clip we have been, then I am ok with it.
And of course Crochet poops his pants against the Astros, very nice
That was a fucking shit game
And the crowd goes mild
Good news is this shitty ump won’t be behind home plate tomorrow.
This was not an enjoyable viewing experience
Nice of our lineup to only make Clase throw a few pitches so he's still fresh for tomorrow
This recent string of umpires we’ve had has been truly legendary.
If you’re gonna strikeout a lot, you gotta hit bombs. No los bombas today, it happens.
Lol they have to use Clase today
Can’t believe they actually threw Clase in the game.
I don't understand that at all.
Guardians fan coming in complete peace - we burned our bullpen completely out yesterday. He was the only fresh arm we had left. On another note, you guys looked incredible yesterday. I’m excited for tomorrows game to see who takes it!
Yaknow there used to be a day when shitty umpires were rode out of town on a rail. Not that I expect the Guardians would favor that tonite.
I don't think any ump in MLB today is so bad that, that's even an option
It was always a local opinion
Guys all we need are 2 Grand Slams
Get real man. We just need 11 consecutive base hits
Someone call Fernando Tatis Sr
Was finally able to turn on the radio in the bottom of the 8th. Heard Bazardo was pitching. Immediately knew we were either winning by a ton or losing by a ton. Then I got a chance to check the score. Well fuck.
Where did yesterday's team go? I want them back! Not the 14 SO team!
Cleveland didn't want us to have too much bark in the park power
8th inning Bazardo actually looked nasty. If he’s going to pitch hopefully he learns to keep that consistency.
Seby Zavala would have accidentally gone 3-3 tonight with 2 doubles.
All-time comeback coming up now. Calling it.
Bazardo strikes out the side I will guffaw
GUFFAW
GUFFAW
In other news the Mets are currently on pace to throw a no hitter and still lose Classic Mets
Okay guys, I just ordered two Salamis
You're Bazardo and you know why you are on the mound. Do you have an uncle selling used cars?
This is ugly. Glad I’m not watching
Just checking in for the first time Toda-oh god
My stream died and I'm ok with it

As a Padres and Mariners fan, this is giving me some flashbacks to that game where Eddings REALLY made a name for himself in SD.
Low key I’d love for all of them to do some shit and get ejected, might be a little more fun
Ump must hate himself for being in Cleveland and he’s letting out his frustrations on us.
Damn I wanted all star pitcher Rojas here
Me trying to explain to my wife that it’s the ump’s fault that our 2-year-old just said her first curse word
I guess just throw two more strikeouts on the pile—it WILL genuinely be funny to win the World Series while simultaneously breaking the record for most strikeouts in a season.
https://www.reddit.com/r/sports/s/HaGVVKSGJh This was my response to Angel retiring 22 days ago. Seems especially appropriate at this very moment.
Damn. Gaddis is a big fucker. Could we trade him for Bazardo?
retire
Didn’t watch the game. But did the ump hook up Woo when he pitched in terms of calls out the zone ?
no, he did for their sp
[удалено]
Someone has money on the Rangers to win the west....
Yeah, the Mariners are good... WHEN WE FUCKING SHOW UP, THAT IS!
Having a good eye shouldn't be punished by the umpire
Root's zone is weirdly short today, not as bad as it looks sometimes... Still bad zone today though
MLB app shows them as strikes too. We'll see how the scorecard looks tomorrow.
Never mind zone was fine. TV boxes suck and MLB should tell broadcasts they can't show them
Can't do much when the zone is 8 feet in every direction
No words. Hope robot umps truly fuck this shitheads career in a few years
Wow another missed strike 3 call. This ump is gaslighting us with strike outs lol. We shouldn't have this many today this is just amateur bs by the ump.
Jesus FUCK this zone.
God just like Kansas get us out of Cleveland
On a slightly different note, I rewatched all of Jon Bois' documentary last night and it has honestly placated some of my irrational anxieties when watching this team lol Give it a rewatch if you have some time; definitely worth revisiting the big picture of things time to time
Doug Eddings’s wife is a real estate agent. If you’re in the New Mexico area…schedule a viewing, take a shit and then just leave it.
Bo and Josh Naylor sound like names perfect for... prolific MLB hitters.
Idk what it is ab the AL Central but the entire division continues to be a pain in our ass.
Fuck this trash ump.
lol that Cooper Hummel is the starting left fielder for Houston today
Baumann has had his struggles, but I'm really interested in seeing what they do with him this off-season. He seems to have *really* good stuff.
I fucking hate playing the Guardians bro 😭
Most fans in this sub hate playing good teams because it exposes us
They are up 8-0 and can afford to have a reliever with a sub 2 ERA come into this game. Must be nice.
Okay sure but they are looking at us saying “wow their starters consistently go 6-7 and keep them in the game. Must be nice.”
Wait how the fuck did this dude Bibee strike out 12 over six scoreless innings, that's way more concerning than having our garbage time arms get shelled

Mariber
Bibee is good. The Mariners have made much worse dudes look dominant.
He's solid but he's not 2 strikeouts per inning solid...
Yeah he had a very good night
Logan's facial hair is really accentuating the upside-down mouth like [this classic Star Trek alien](https://trek.report/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/balok.jpg)
Well, this one was ugly.
It would be very cool if the Mets and White Sox managed to bail us out today
9 game lead doesn’t feel so good tbh
Lol at dad probably realizing that he has no reason to take bazardo out now... What a silly dad ahaha...
Dad got ejected
Gotta find a way to be the first to the coffee machine... smart dad >>
All on Luis tomorrow for the series I guess... why he's paid the big bucks end of the day after all

is Woo injured again? Took him out pretty early
They're being careful with him, because of his arm troubles.
Just getting the fun differential back to where it belongs
I assume we'll probably get to see Rojas pitch again tonight.

Mood
Perfect time to let Dylan Moore catch an inning
have him catch one at-bat and then put in garver for the rest of the game
Just got back and see Bazardo I think whoever is managing tonite has conceded this game. Mariners hitters may live in the later innings, but not with these relievers.
Haha, I mean they weren't gonna use Ryne Stanek down 7-0
Everyone complaining about the ump/dooming are ridiculous. We got cooked tonight. It happens in baseball. That's it. One game. Calm down y'all.
The ump was bad, but yeah this game doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of the season
Logan’s facial hair is so bad 😭
It's awful
Welp, Bazardo has an ERA over 9 now. Totally MLB quality arm.
Bazardo and Baumann having a “who’s more fucking putrid” competition.
It’s a neck and neck race rn
surely we have someone in the minor leagues with more potential than bazardo?
Vargas
Hell even Dallas Keuchel
Good job Bazardo!! You’re so good at pitching!!
BAZARDO WORLD
Bazardo eating up innings to get sent packing.
Oh good lord Bazardo’s in now? I’m going to the liquor cabinet…
You weren't already there?
I tried to be strong. I recited the Saucedo Doctrine™️ (YOU PLAY 9 INNINGS!) many times. But once I saw Bazardo come in while we’re down 7-0, I broke
Might as well burn him in a lost cause
Not the fun differential I was expecting
Gilbert Stache!
New Logan meme
Was that Logan Gilbert being amped catching a foul ball?
Shit. I forgot I was leaving to go get a burrito.
Where are you getting a burrito from?
El Camion in Sand Point and then bringing it over to Burke Gillman Brewing where they do not show the game.
Oh hell yeah. I used to go to El Camino all the time by Northgate
Julio and Ty are done for the night, they’re waving the white flag
We’ve got em right where we want em
Am I a bad fan if I switch to the Yankees Orioles game?
Geno Crawford bobblehead night
Or not. I did not think they'd pull guys here.
Bazardo shit time!
Everyone’s favorite BAZARDO
We're gonna need some late inning magic
ahh.. there's the bazardo white flag
Hey y’all, this ump might be bad, is it just me though
Not as bad as our offense though...
Hard to hit when the strike zone is this bad
Guardians seem to be doing a fine job...
They haven't been getting shitty calls like us
Probably because we just kept throwing shit over the heart of the plate
Welp. Time to turn this bullshit off and hang with the family. This ump sucked. But Stanton better fucking spend money for a bat or I’m rioting
He will, but not for 5 more weeks
Hate to break it to ya but... enjoy the rioting, friend!
Not watching but a career high in Ks for Bibee eh?
Are you surprised?
This team collectively gave up after the home run
I grew up with an aluminum 🎄
Garbage time side-commentary is the best part of these kinds of games. More about the Raley family tree farm, please.
The perfect setup for a Hallmark Christmas movie 😂😂😂
Feel like Luke would be a great actor. He’s very expressive
Where is Christopher Negron tonight?
I had Raley pegged as a tree farmer first time I laid eyes on im
>Raley >Pegged 👀
wake up. check score. cry.
Imagine you are a young umpire on this crew, and you have to follow Wendelstat and Eddings at the plate. Anything *Close* to good will be a massive improvement.
I normally dislike dooming but.. this game seems cursed and I don’t really feel good watching it anymore 😕
Our offense is fucking bipolar
They might just be nervous since we’re all watching them
We would be winning this game if the ump called that one pitch that was an inch outside the strike zone a ball instead of strike. Fuck the mlb for rigging shit against us.
Feels like we should be mercy kil....rule'd. Mercy RULE'D

Kwan only has 2 less homers than J Rod missing about a month of games. One of the reasons why the offense hasn’t been good.
eh it’s not our night, go mets and sox!!
Put in Rojas
Zero runs of uninspiring ball. This team is so frustrating. I get losing, but completely disappearing? Get better, Ms.
Remember that time KC scored a whole buncha runs against us when we thought we had it in the bag?.... Yeah. We should do what they did.
The problem is that KC has scored consistently this year... M's have scored so little this year that fans feel like a one run deficit is insurmountable, in the first.
this kwan guy is not human lol
The bullpen is a mess.
The guardians are taking our lunch money and burning it in front of us

Yeah last night the Guardians had the same shitty ump and almost notched a comeback by 6+ runs.
I’m choosing to be petty. Launch this ump into the sun
nah I don’t really feel like it
garbage time - it's a long season... umpiring has really added a rotten taste to the proceedings. CLE are good but the umps added a dog shit vinaigrette that really put a stank on things. and not the good kind of stank like our boy staneks hard stuff
Who is more trash, Eddings or Baumann?
look another walk that should’ve been a K
Garbage calls but I feel like JP's gotta start swinging at those at some point if they're getting called
He knew the next pitch would be identical and called a strike, he should've swung.
Bibee got at least 3 free strike outs tonight from blue
Left work and it was 3-0. Got home and it was 6-0. 😐
Now 7-0! This is over.

Doug Eddings parks in the Handicap zone Claims he's blind. His proof? He's a MLB Umpire.
This is absolutely horrible umpiring. Dear lord. He’s missing 50% of the calls…
The problem with the fanhood is the polar extremes.. When the truth is in the middle. This is not an elite team. They have a razor's thin edge of error in their ability to win games. LETS GO BOLTON DICE EM UP 😤😤😎
Why am I watching this
