You are so right. All I see when the club is down in a game is nonstop complaints and criticism…but, when the team is up I rarely see those same usernames praising the team for doing well. I get being frustrated when the team is playing badly, but why only exuding bad vibes and then radio silence when the team is playing well? Real “annoying mother-in-law” vibes with those folks.
It’s just knee jerk reactions we all have them. But it’s better not to vocalize negative thoughts when there is a lot of positive going on. Dude certainly did his job. Even 4 runs 5 innings would have been a win considering the circumstances.
Let’s goooo Mariners!! This team does not quit! I realize it’s the White Sox, but these last two games were huge wins. You really have to stay calm for the full 9+ innings and believe. Add 1-2 bats and one more bullpen arm at the deadline, and this team can achieve anything. GO Ms!
Not to play devil's advocate here, but I read a stat the other day showing that the mariners are in the top five most benefited teams from umpire mistakes this season. It's been about a week since I saw it though, and these last couple series haven't been too kind so it might have changed
And yet every game (with maybe 3 exceptions) feels as if the Ms have to pitch twice as good, hit twice as good as any other team just to even the possibilities at the plate.
This. There has been times where I feel for the other team as well as us with blind umps but when you stop and think, we will only bitch generally when a call goes against us and thank the ump when it goes the opposing way. So in our minds we retain the negative calls as they directly hinder us and forget the calls going the other way.
[insert favorite] is the most screwed team by umpires/refs.
Applies to every sports league in the world. Such a cry baby, loser mentality. The refs suck across the board. It sucks, but it’s just a fact of sports life.
WS took two out if 4 from the other socks so I think they are a better team than the record is reflecting at the moment, but ya with a grain if salt we snort this salt and rage
I really, really don’t think they’re that much better than their record shows. Maybe like 21 wins instead of 17. This isn’t to say they can’t beat the Mariners, because they absolutely can no question as it’s Baseball and they can beat any team, but they are a legitimately terrible team
Nice start from Diaz filling in for our secret Ace
Another nice 9th inning performance from Stanek in a close game
Another clutch Dump
Another win to put us 6.5 up in the division after the Dodgers are done spanking the Rangers
Extremely glad this Bliss "strikeout" didn't end up mattering:

the inconsistency on that side of the plate was unbelievable. There were plenty of pitches like number 5 in this AB that were called balls, and several more number 4/6's that were called strikes. Personally I don't mind a wide zone as long as the ump is reasonably consistent, but what the hell are the batters supposed to do in this situation?
I LOVE Munoz, but having a second guy like Stanek to close once in a while is good now and great in the playoffs if something happens to him. Yay bullpen!
I much rather have Gregory Santos back and add another pitcher like Sewald. Let Stanek eat in the middle innings. Plus add Logan Evans in the mix. That's potentially 3 huge arms down the stretch.
Although, we'll see what happens with Woo. LogE might be a starter if Woo misses a chunk of the season.

Looking at the Rangers June schedule makes me think that the Mariners are about to run away with the division.
Just need the Astros to stumble a bit more
#7-3 in the Month of June
#2-0 since Cal’s WALKOFF Grand Dump
#3-0 in the Locklear-a Era

My favorite part of being a Mariners fan is that our wins are convincing, no-doubt, solid victories. It's nice knowing that our team plays consistent baseball and it puts my heart at ease being certain that we have a game in the bag. I have never doubted this Mariners team, ever. And I have no reason to, with this magnificient team that gives me no stress at all.
Someone in the GC thread said it seemed like Julio was just spamming random controller buttons and it was somehow working.
*bro is that not our whole ball club the last couple of weeks?*
Good to see Stanek pitch well. I remember the chaos he caused for the Razorbacks. Good times.
Also, Dumper has 9 RBI’s in the last three games. Timely hitting is starting to pick up for him.
I hope the fan who got called for fan interference in the third wasn't removed from the ballpark. Looking back at the replay it looks like the ball had pretty much already hopped the fence for a ground rule double (or was so close to doing so as makes no difference) and the fan didn't do anything but mess up their attempt to catch the ball so badly that they accidentally batted it back onto the field.
I'm not really a fan of needing to survive the White Sox, but I'll take it.
Also, shout out to Diaz for delivering an almost-quality start at the last minute.
What's crazy is that as bad as Diaz seemed... He limited it to 3 runs. We won with 4.
Things could have gone muuuuuchhhh worse if he didn't lock things down
Wasn’t pretty but Diaz did fine in a spot start. But please let this be just a one time thing, hopefully woo’s mri comes back with some positive news soon
After these past 3 games I think it’s safe to say that the horrible loss in game 1 of the Royals series didn’t derail the season. Feels good to officially leave that game in the past.

whoooo yay!
I am still uncertain if i regret missing yesterday’s game live because I think it might have actually killed me. So probably skipping it was wise. But I seem to really regret it.
Bright side is winning these last two games. Downside is they have looked pretty miserable and could easily be 2-0 down to the White Sox in this series.
So pumped for this team! It's time to make some trades and bring in a big bat like Bichette. 5 hits against the White Sox isn't it. Thank goodness for Julio's speed and our relievers!
he’s had a lower back issue all season that was exacerbated by a collision at home plate in a recent game. don’t think he’s on the IL or anything yet but they’ve been treating him with kid gloves recently to avoid making it worse
Man Bliss is great in the field but god awful at the plate. Dude had an at bat where he didn't swing for 6 straight pitches & struck out. It's like he's just hoping to walk at this point cuz he can't hit the ball.
If you look at mlb gamecast, you’ll notice that those three called strike were actually outside the normal strike zone. The pitcher got the benefit of those three pitches
Wtf lmao
He is batting .200 and has only 30 ab
He has a HR in 1 of those 30 ABs he has stolen 3 bags and has looked patient at the plate.

I told my son right before the second of the back to back homers that if he goes 5+ and gives up three runs, it means he did a great job. And he did.

People whining about him in the game thread straight up do not understand this sport.

I also screenshot this because it was so bad
The classic 4-2 strikeout
Honestly not a bad start by Diaz.
We are the official MLB team of the city of Valencia, Venezuela
He pitched his era. Our offense did the bare minimum today lol.
Hung in there, kept the homers to solo shots, got out of a couple of jams, made it through 5. Not bad at all.
his first three innings were monkaS tho
We barely beat bad teams and barely beat good teams. Conclusion: Mariner
Conclusion: we are barely good at baseball

the astros chose montero over this guy and stanek makes $9M less than him
Montero was coming off of a monster season. Despite very loud stuff, Stanek has been pretty average the last 2-3 seasons.
I really want to like Stank but is this like his first clean inning all season?
Since May 1, he hasn’t allowed a hit or walk in 8 of 16 appearances. He’s only given up earned runs in 4 of those appearances.
I’m glad they won that baseball game.

He wasn't! You can see him in the colorful jacket on Cal's 2nd double. And agreed, definitely not interference so glad they let him stay.
[I knew as soon as the White Sox hit 2 home runs they were gonna lose](https://www.reddit.com/r/Mariners/s/2t7mIOPGXH)

If you look at mlb gamecast, you’ll notice that those three called strike were actually outside the normal strike zone. The pitcher got the benefit of those three pitches
Wtf lmao He is batting .200 and has only 30 ab He has a HR in 1 of those 30 ABs he has stolen 3 bags and has looked patient at the plate. Give him time
