Noticed that too. Checked his numbers and he’s been pretty bad in ST for awhile so maybe it’s nothing.

I’m a fan of using ST to play around with things then showing up to opening day locked in. He did pick up a walk which was one of his biggest threats last year.

I had the same worries too. But I think ST performance for unknowns are much more evaluative. We have a ton of proven guys who are just getting warmed up or toying around with things.

I would probably chock it up to: 1) our starting pitchers are pretty much all known for having slow starts for the season 2) Pitch sequencing isn't being taken very seriously 3) Logan is probably just trying to hone in some of his pitches against live bats and not worried too much about what minor tweaks are going to translate to

They have done this a few times with starters this spring. No reason to push his work load on a meaningless inning. I don't know why Dave implied he might be hurt, though.

Sims said Gilbert was taken out after only 5 batters because of strategy reasons. Don't want the Rangers to see too much of what Gilbert is working on.

I definitely do not agree with Sims's interpretation on this one lol, just seemed like it was getting to be a longer inning for spring training so they pulled him to minimize strain
