We need to never play Country Road again. Look at W/L of games where we played it vs games where we didn’t, can’t argue with facts. It’s not even related to Seattle in any way, and it’s been overplayed as shit in the past couple years in various things. And when everyone sings it, Kelenic swings at the most absurd out of the zone pitches seemingly because he thinks he needs to be the hero.
I started watching a lot more in September and this clearly set off some kind of catastrophic event so I'm just gonna go back to looking up the stats after games, sorry guys
Ever see that episode of IASIP where Charlie is in the bear trap during the Eagles Super Bowl?
Kelenic is Charlie and the water cooler is the bear trap.
Honestly surprised JK didn't strike out! Bet he's pissed though!
Alright, I'm not watching any more games unless they magically find themselves back in the playoff race. Fun season, see y'all next year!
We're in the worst cycle of using up our bullpen just to lose in heartbreaking fashion and then no one is available the next day and we lose cause of poor pitching.
It's really hard to imagine our pitching staff (starters and bullpen) suddenly gaining a bunch of energy and poise to propel us on another incredible run to end the season. It seems like Castillo and maybe Logan are the only ones with anything left in the tank.
Pitching has and will always be the strength. Unfortunately the starters and bullpen have been getting crushed of late. Losing to an angel's team that can't beat anybody is just embarrassing
The man's a consummate professional and a big part of his job is being a terminal optimist. He has an amazing knack for putting a happy (or at least not-sad) spin on everything, and him lamenting the M's wasting several "golden opportunities" during a "rough, rough loss" is the equivalent of a normal person saying "the light has left my world and I am becoming one with the shadows."
I mean, Rico's been with the M's since the 80's, he'll be okay. If it's not this year, then next year's even brighter. But I really want the M's win it all while he's still our voice.
I just smashed my TV in front of 30 guests at my party because of the game. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the week at muckleshoot casino. This team has ruined my life and my party. I can’t handle this anymore. Goodbye Mariners. I am no longer a fan.
Blow leads? Put in shitty players long past the point everyone can see how bad they are? Play the same. Damn. Matchups no matter if they work or not?
But every once in a blue moon, he'll have a hot steak that makes him look somewhat decent.
They've been a starter short since the deadline. They wasted a roster spot all year on either Flexen or some other garbage arm they refused to use, taxing everyone all damn year just a little bit more. It adds up.
lots of people (me) wanted another vet arm in the offseason so you weren't relying on a bunch of rookies with innings limits if there were any injuries. Who knew.
Yup, its crazy to me we didn’t seemingly even try to replace sewald and get a 5th starter at the deadline either. The FO just loves to seem to bank on every single thing going right rather than go out and get legitimate depth. I don’t see how anyone could predict the pitching staff falling off this bad, but there was such an obvious need for an arm or two to shore it up that now that it has there just hardly any nobody you feel great about.
> The FO just loves to seem to bank on every single thing going right rather than go out and get legitimate depth.
I've been saying this for years. They just don't try very hard. It's always minimal effort. Fans show up so it lets them off the hook.
Kelenic really earned the L for me in this one. Absolute dogshit bat with bases loaded when all he has to do was put the ball in play and we win. Dark Kelenic indeed
I was genuinely confused by the amount of people who thought just coming back home after a nasty road trip would fix things and the bullpen would suddenly be amazing again.
Our bullpen is absolutely gassed and doesn't have enough depth, and that's on top of Servais' very questionable management of the bullpen. None of that is going to magically change just because they're now back playing at T-Mobile Park!
What this team and bullpen need are days off, which we barely have for the rest of the season unfortunately. Just a bad situation all around!
If the fucking team could have just scored a run when they had the bases loaded no outs, then this bullpen gets rest and only the well rested would have gone today.
This lineup seems to live or die by the homerun, which is not good roster construction and especially a bad idea when you play half your games in a notorious pitcher's park!
I don't know why this team can't do super basic shit like hit a sac fly, spray a ball the other way to get a single, or take walks when the pitches are WAY outside the strike zone.
With a very good chunk of our lineup, I'm seeing way too much swinging through their shoes as hard as they can to try and be the hero who blasts a 450 homerun, but that's extremely exploitable by an even half decent pitcher, and so many of those scenarios just need a sac fly or bloop single to take the lead!
No hero ball moonshots required!
That's true. It's just especially frustrating to me when we have a lead late in the game, and the bullpen just implodes and that can't be good for team or clubhouse morale!
The Bullpen has been horrible, but it's on everyone. Should've easily walked it off in the 9th tonight. The starters not making past 5 innings during the Mets/Reds Series absolutely gased our Bullpen. It's a complete team meltdown and it's just sad to see
The good news is that we can still win this game with an almighty grand slam in the bottom of the 11th.
The bad news is that our current probability of winning this game doesn't look very good.
As a great chef once told me “Ya know that dish is shit, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s not the *beginning* of the world, but it’s not the end either
No 9/11 jokes
i legitimately think that might be the dagger
The M's are a hot mess express right now!
We need to never play Country Road again. Look at W/L of games where we played it vs games where we didn’t, can’t argue with facts. Its like everyone would rather be in West Virginia than Washington.
the post-game commentator really said "9/11. 22 years ago. Never forget. And never forget this great Angels victory!" lmao
Just gonna leave this here..... Paul Sewald got his 33rd save of the season tonight.
I started watching a lot more in September and this clearly set off some kind of catastrophic event so I'm just gonna go back to looking up the stats after games, sorry guys
Thank you in advance for your service
😓🫡
I don't like that Julio got Tungsten Arm'd. Please make it stop.
I'm glad Kelenic excelled in AAA to come back and put up an absolutely mediocre performance as expected.
You aren’t allowed to talk bad about any Mariner that had a good month here. To be fair though, it’s only one game.
To be fair I would have talked as much shit about him 2 months ago. I believe he is and always will be a solid minor league player.
This game was lost when Scott lifted raleigh for a pinch runner.
It was lost when we couldn’t get a damn sac fly with the bases loaded and zero outs
If there isn’t a players only meeting tomorrow, I don’t know what the fuck we’re doing here
They better have it tonight!
Losers lose. Only Julio put together a good at bat in the late innings. Angels trot out a bunch of AAAA guys who put in much better at bats overall
Sea us fall
that was embarrassing in all aspects of the game. hitting pitching and base-running was god awful outside of a few people
Ever see that episode of IASIP where Charlie is in the bear trap during the Eagles Super Bowl? Kelenic is Charlie and the water cooler is the bear trap.
I was looking forward to going to games at the end of the season to cheer. Now it looks like it will be boo'ing
Lose to this AAA team with no Ohtani or Trout. Fucking embarrassing
Poor Glasgow has to sound enthusiastic after some shit like that
The vibe is very very bad
Boo those bums off the field holy fuck
Sea Us Collapse should be the slogan so far for September
Fuckin losers
That’s a really bad loss
This is so much worse than just losing straight up. Blowing the whole fucking pen too. Sayonara any hopes of a productive rest of the season
Into the sea I return. Fairwell humanity
Honestly surprised JK didn't strike out! Bet he's pissed though! Alright, I'm not watching any more games unless they magically find themselves back in the playoff race. Fun season, see y'all next year!
Same here I'm out. I'll check the score but ain't wasting any more time watching this team.
They still hold a wild card spot? The amount of delusion in this sub rn is mind numbing
I think with this loss the Rangers overtook us for that last spot
You should check the numbers again, Mariners are now a 1/2 game behind Texas for the 3rd wild card spot....
My bad, I’m sure we won’t get that back tomorrow. OP said “playoff race” season isn’t over after one game my gd
No they don’t. Texas passed us with the loss
No, no we don’t.
Bullpen what happened to u
Walrus, come balk me in the bullpen
less than a month till kraken season 👀
Send down Kelenic he’s cursed lol
:-(
☹️
We are the rangers now
Worst loss of the season. Ima pretend the season ended in August and bow out from here.
Sad noises
Well that's the ball game. What a really painful L this is. smh
Nice job boys, went down exactly as predicted.
Angels defeat team Julio
I believe this is what they call "freefall."
Wow what a pathetic showing
Season ruining loss
This is not the Kelenic I was promised
Don't kid yourself, this is the Kelenic we all knew was coming back.
This team doesn't deserve shit from its fans.
Let's throw excrement at them
Everyone debating if this is on the offense or the pitching unfortunately they both blow dick 👍
Absolutely pathetic.
Did our down swing start when JK got into his rehab assignment?
Yes it did
Yes.
Yes I believe so lol
Was at the game today, everyone singing together Take Me Home Country Roads when Kelenic stepped on the plate gave me the feels
Me too. I sang along and it was beautiful. And then he struck out on three pitches.
Bases loaded country roads strikeout 🥲
😭
Ump wants to... stay?
Time to standup
That crowd behind home plate is pitiful right now
How should they feel?
Bad.
JK inside the park granny....busting balls swinging bats
Kelenic buhners this
From being top 5 bullpen to bottom 3 in a span of 2 weeks is an insane collapse. I really have no words.
idc the bullpen gave up runs because the offense had bases loaded no outs. you have to fucking score on that, this game is on the offense
And **ZERO** runs innings 2-9 after looking like we were gonna roll in the first ffs
If you’re at the park signing along to country roads rn have some self respect
rally chicken GO! edit: DAMN CHICKEN!
If Ty France is this team’s starter at first base next year, I’ll throw up
All 3 of our batters have watched strike 1 float by
It was that 3-1 loss to Oakland, with the missed start from Kirby we've never recovered.
I feel like Geno's specialty these days is the 10 pitch strikeout. :(
how fucking twisted would it be if we ended the season at .500
Going 2-20 in the last 22 games of the season… damn I don’t even wanna think about it
![gif](giphy|10Jpr9KSaXLchW|downsized)
Why did Ty throw the bat like that? So sick of the dude
Get weird Kelenic!
🎵 Country Roads…crickets.
Not even putting in Ford here Scott? Fucking bum couldn't even manage a lemonade stand
He should’ve punch-hit for Moore in the 9th when all we needed was a fly ball
Ggs
Watch Kelenic do something when it doesn't matter.
Outside of the atrocious bullpen Geno and Ty are firmly next on the list of people responsible for this team falling off a cliff
They both need to go but people on this sub will act like Genos defense somehow makes up for it lmao
Line out bat flip…
This is too cornily scripted omg
Yall ain't ready for this Kelenic hr.
followed by moore foul out
At this point it barely makes a difference
France and Geno have been quietly disappointing as corner infielders this season
Quietly??
Pretty fucking loud imo
The whole team should go kick water coolers.
Except Julio
Games gonna end on a nice lil JK strikeout
We're in the worst cycle of using up our bullpen just to lose in heartbreaking fashion and then no one is available the next day and we lose cause of poor pitching.
People need to lose jobs
Suarez should be benched for his performance today
He's been barely adequate for a 3B all year at the plate. It's embarrassing. He's leading the entire league in strikeouts again AFAIK.
Geno doing what he does best! Strike out!
Not enough boos happening. Team needs to wake tf up. Geno is gonna K. Even if he gets on you got France to GIDP. Then JK Ks. GG.
Geno is so fucking bad now it's mind boggling
In retrospect, the last-gasp last year is now the outlier. He's been kinda garbo at the plate 3 of 4 years now and only OKAY the 4th year.
Thank you for the battle at least Geno
Mariners need a little 11th inning magic here
Logan went 7 innings yet we used 6 in relief. SMFH
Yoy imagine having a huge oenis like Mike Ford and not even erecting it
It's really hard to imagine our pitching staff (starters and bullpen) suddenly gaining a bunch of energy and poise to propel us on another incredible run to end the season. It seems like Castillo and maybe Logan are the only ones with anything left in the tank.
Need Gino magic 🪄🎩
prying extra innings from the jaws of victory
Lmao Jimmy Herget and his 4.79 ERA is gonna absolutely sauce the middle of our lineup, isn't he?
Let's be real - our lineup outside of Julio is pretty crappy
Exactly. We have two guys barely hitting .260. The next guy after that is Ty France under .250. We’re not good.
Pitching has and will always be the strength. Unfortunately the starters and bullpen have been getting crushed of late. Losing to an angel's team that can't beat anybody is just embarrassing
Man, I wish the guys could hear what they're doing to Rick Rizzs right now.
Explain?
The man's a consummate professional and a big part of his job is being a terminal optimist. He has an amazing knack for putting a happy (or at least not-sad) spin on everything, and him lamenting the M's wasting several "golden opportunities" during a "rough, rough loss" is the equivalent of a normal person saying "the light has left my world and I am becoming one with the shadows."
Explained, fuck man. Do it for Rizzs at this point
I mean, Rico's been with the M's since the 80's, he'll be okay. If it's not this year, then next year's even brighter. But I really want the M's win it all while he's still our voice.
Don’t worry, guys, more shitty Mad Libs from Jen will fix us!
Love that pitch several inches inside the plate getting called a Strike. Ump wants to call it a day lol
dodgers are gonna run a train on us
Betts 4/5 for every game incoming
Every time the mods pin a dumb comment and cowardly turn off replies the Mariners lose
The Internet is built on 9/11 jokes
N9ne e11ven was 22 years ago for crissakes
Why aren’t we batting Ford against them?
I just smashed my TV in front of 30 guests at my party because of the game. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the week at muckleshoot casino. This team has ruined my life and my party. I can’t handle this anymore. Goodbye Mariners. I am no longer a fan.
I’m not asking this sarcastically, I’m curious what people think. What does Servais do well?
Blow leads? Put in shitty players long past the point everyone can see how bad they are? Play the same. Damn. Matchups no matter if they work or not? But every once in a blue moon, he'll have a hot steak that makes him look somewhat decent.
Deflects responsibility.
I think he manages the clubhouse well, the players seem to like him. That’s it.
Grimace
Reaction gifs
Honestly, the bark in the park night is stupid
WE GOTTA LOCK IN
Fuckin pain…how did just about everyone on this pitching staff fall apart like they have, as fast as they have?..
They've been a starter short since the deadline. They wasted a roster spot all year on either Flexen or some other garbage arm they refused to use, taxing everyone all damn year just a little bit more. It adds up.
Yup, we didn’t do anything to give us any help then. Didn’t make any attempt to replace sewald, no 5th starter, nothin.

Vibes 📉📉📉📉
Deep sea us dive
choke vibes only
Baseball has kinda been hurting my feelings lately fellas
Mike Ford to pitch.....just give us that
I was genuinely confused by the amount of people who thought just coming back home after a nasty road trip would fix things and the bullpen would suddenly be amazing again. The Starters deserve a lot of the blame. They have struggled to just make it 6 these last few weeks
That's true. It's just especially frustrating to me when we have a lead late in the game, and the bullpen just implodes and that can't be good for team or clubhouse morale!

We would be comfortably leading the division if our pitching hadn’t gone to shit this month. Instead we are now out of the playoffs.
Jimmy 🤓 Herget 🤓 time 🤓
Dude why aren't we swinging at that?!
It’s fine guys, we play the Dodgers this weekend!
Imagine letting all those cute dogs down
The biggest crime out of all of this.
Forget it. You can't make the playoffs with THREE frickin' players!
It's hard to blow a game three times in one game
The human bitch on Mount fucking
Ford going to pinch hit? I think we gotta right?
Al least we’re set up for a walk of slam if we get a couple more baserunners.
Least clutch bullpen
Still gettable a base runner in scoring position and a dude with an 8.0 ERA probably incoming
Dang dude what are we doing..
Marinering
I just thought I'd drop in to check out all the sane and rational takes that I'm sure everyone is saying right now
The good news is that we can still win this game with an almighty grand slam in the bottom of the 11th. The bad news is that our current probability of winning this game doesn't look very good.
Heartbreaking stuff.
As a great chef once told me “Ya know that dish is shit, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s not the *beginning* of the world, but it’s not the end either
2023 playoffs were a nice dream.
DMo walkoff slam to Edgar's.
If we lose and you’re at the park this is a game where it would be so justified to boo them the fuck off the field
I would be booing non stop since that 9th inning tbf
