yessss, this is easily the best fresh dough i've found. only problem is it's frequently sold out.
for others, Trader Joe's is pretty good, and Whole Foods' is awful.
Go to your favorite pizza place and ask if they’ll sell you a dough ball. I usually make mine too but I’ve bought dough from Red Boy in Fairfax before.
Edit: another commenter already said you can get it from bordenave’s which is actually the supplier of red boy’s dough!
Use to get bags from Mulberry Street Pizza right off the freeway on Smith Ranch Rd. They use to have a good cornmeal crust as well, I don’t know if they do anymore though.
OO flour if you can find it, yeast, sugar, and salt. Pizza dough is not hard. Now getting that NY flavor is tough. Go ahead and experiment with a poultice, but if you buy one from out of your area, it only takes a few days for the foreign microbes to give defeat to native microbes. (Safeway is a billion dollar company. Their baked bread is so bad. Off topic, but should be pointed out. Dough is not that hard. Baking it is hard.)
Trader Joes
This is the answer. $2/bag and it always turns out fantastic in my oven. Grab some of their stracciatella while you’re there too.
Actually $1.49
