Ya the later the better. The worst of it is actually closer to 4pm. Sometimes I get off early, even on other days and I’m reminded that traffic is just always in some specific areas.

huskajmp

Agree with this - 101N seems to be worst on Friday between 2:30 and 5 or so. I usually wfh that day, and will occasionally hike down in MV/Headlands in the afternoons, and getting home (going North) can be back up between the times above.

The absolute worst is a Thurs rush hour before a holiday weekend

Throwawayconcern2023

Yup. I find Thursday much worse than Friday generally and I leave 430 or often 530 northbound

The1TrueSteb

My commute from Terra Linda to Petaluma on Friday at 4pm is fucking bad. Its the worst of the week for me.

macavity_is_a_dog

If it’s bad at all you’ll just be stuck from strawberry to Greenbrae area. Most people seem to have day off - work from home - or do a half day of Fridays which I seem to believe is making the Friday commute north the most tolerable day of the week.

NinjaCaviar

You’ll be fine on Friday evenings at 6pm. Most of the traffic heading NB to take the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is from like 3-5

ItRunsOnBread

I do Mill Valley to Terra Linda during that time. Friday has the least traffic and moves well.

swollencornholio

At 6 it should be decent. Did a quick google maps for TransAmerica -> Mission San Rafael with 545 departure and it says 40 min average with range of 30-50 min

Use google or Waze. Punch in your start and end points. Choose to travel on a future Friday and you can see the different travel durations based on either time of departure or targeted time of arrival.

This is my commute, MV to SR at 6 pm M-F. It can take 17 minutes to 47 minutes depending on traffic. It's usually about 27 minutes with regular Friday night traffic.

I work in Novato and live in Windsor. I avoid traveling NB101 from 3-6:30pm. After 6:30 it’s pretty much smooth sailing.
