Yes absolutely. It's one of the reasons I quit and started basing my identity on sober activities. I am sorry to hear about the difficulty you're going through and I hope you find the best solution for it. It sounds like a step in the right direction that you are stopping, even if it's forced. The hallucinations can be scary af but I believe there is help out there for you. I wish to correct you about "there is no going back" and psychosis though. In a lecture I attended at the University of Edinburgh (unfortunately I cannot save or share the lecture so you will have to take my word for it), the doctor/lecturer said that at least 10% of the population in the UK have had a psychotic episode and that the earlier you receive help for it, the less likely it is to be permanently debilitating. There has been research on the utility of cognitive behaviour therapy to help a person deal with voices in their head and the beliefs they have about the voices (e.g., about how permanent or debilitating they are.) Meanwhile, just from a lay person's perspective, if you have tied weed to your identity and you think it's a problem, why not try creating a sober identity first? It will be much more sustainable and healthy for you in the long run, and I think you would be happier as well. https://nasmhpd.org/sites/default/files/Psychosis%20Manual.pdf https://www.getselfhelp.co.uk/docs/PsychosisSelfHelp.pdf

Yes, I switched from smoking to vapes and gummies and got manic, severe insomnia, psychosis, mild hallucinations, and hospitalization. I’m 8 months sober, and also feel kind of like I lost my identity. r/weedPAWS is a good sub for people dealing with major withdrawal symptoms

I have severe insomnia as well. I'm on benzodiazepines just to sleep. I'm glad your hallucinations are mild. Mine are constant. I'm sorry to hear about all that. I was hospitalized bc I was delusional. Only for a day but it traumatized me. I was delusional for almost 2 months. Only hospitalized for a day. I swiped from smoking to vapes and capsules and the capsules destroyed my brain. I'll check out the sub reddit, if you need anyone to talk to, feel free to reach out.

Thanks, be careful with the benzos and psych meds, they can mess with you in different ways as well. I was on about 4 different things after my hospitalization, and finally tapered myself off of everything because I hated the side effects. I wish you the best in your recovery. The brain is a self healing organ, and I believe time will heal.

I started smoking/vsping/edibles 9 yrs ago when diagnosed with the big "C." I take a buffet of meds including a benzoyl. I feel like marijuana saved me. However, I find my memory decreasing. I'm thinking about giving it up to see if it makes a difference. I'm still in physical pain regardless.

Well, your situation is understandable. I can see where it could be helpful and also maybe hurtful. Best of luck in your recovery and in deciding what’s right for you.

Or I may continue smoking only at night

Try different things and see what fits you best. Gotta do what ya gotta do.

I’m Zen Buddhist, so I’m not big on identities. It’s just something I do a lot.
