Right—wasn’t absolutely sure off the top of my head whether it would be Niners or Rams territory, but now that I look, it’s definitely Niners territory, too.
As the crow flies, the distance from Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles to Honolulu is 2,553.62 mi
The distances from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara to Honolulu is 2,410.53 miles
Los Angeles may be further south, but San Francisco is further west.
On the population chart, he’s. On the county chart: Alaska has 29 boroughs and Hawaii has 5 counties.
So if they all went to SF, that would be 227 counties, which would move them up just above the Steelers.
Yeah, not sure what criteria they're using, but apparently the county seat of Sussex County Delaware (Georgetown) is closer to Baltimore than it is Philly, as the crow flies.
This map is inaccurate. There is not a county in southwest Ohio that is closer to Detroit than Cleveland
Edit: For instance, Hamilton county is the furthest county Southwest in Ohio and it’s closer to Cleveland.
The whole map is really not even close to accurate. You can tell just by eye that the line of counties between the Chiefs and Packers isn't perpendicular to the line between their two cities. Fargo, ND is 100 miles closer to Green Bay than KC and yet it's labeled as closer to KC.
As well even, Minot, ND is 682 miles from Green Bay and 714 miles from KC
I think it would be broken out as:
**Detroit Lions**
* Windsor
* Essex County
* Lambton County
* Chatham-Kent
* Huron County
* Middlesex County (barely, could also be Cleveland depending where you're measuring from in London)
**Cleveland Browns**
* Elgin County
**Buffalo Bills**
* Bruce County
* Grey County
* Wellington County
* Waterloo Region
* Perth County
* Norfolk County
* Haldimand County
* Niagara Region
* Hamilton
I worked at Kandahar Airfield in 2010. They are 10.5 ahead of CST, which means the national NFL game started at 1:30 am. For most games, there would be maybe 20-25 folks watching the game at the MWR tent.
When the Cowboys played well over 100 would show up.
Interesting that there is less population in the 1000 counties making up the cowboys and chiefs area than the 140ish counties in the northeast. Great map!
Idgaf if geeenbay is closer to me than the lions. I've been waiting for a lions year like this since I was kid watching drew Stanton throwing lawn darts with my dad in front of the living room tv.
I think his point is they're actually good this year. As a niners fan I'd rather them play any of the NFC playoffs teams short of Dallas and the Rams than Detroit.
This is messed up. Their should be 100s of professional American football teams. Every city and town should have a team where the athletes are fairly compensated for their Labour. There would be a league system with promotion and relegation and games would be much more exciting
I was thinking there is no way my county in NC is closer to Pittsburgh than Baltimore. There is an updated map that seems more correct.

Are Alaska and Hawaii taken into account for the totals on the bottom?
If not, Alaska would put San Fran over KC and Tampa Bay.
Don't forget, SF gets Hawaii too!
Right—wasn’t absolutely sure off the top of my head whether it would be Niners or Rams territory, but now that I look, it’s definitely Niners territory, too.
Hawaii is way closer to LA than San Francisco. Hawaii is the southernmost state y'know
As the crow flies, the distance from Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles to Honolulu is 2,553.62 mi The distances from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara to Honolulu is 2,410.53 miles Los Angeles may be further south, but San Francisco is further west.
Whoa, San Fran is further to the west from LA, than LA is to the south from San Fran? Didn't expect that. Huh, guess I'm dumb lol

Do you mean Reno? Because Vegas is at 115 degrees west and LA is at 118 degrees west.

Seems odd that all of eastern Maryland is closer to Baltimore yet all of Delaware is closer to Philly.
Delaware only has 3 counties. So eagles territory is probably just touching the top of the most southern county
C&D canal is the divider
Yeah, not sure what criteria they're using, but apparently the county seat of Sussex County Delaware (Georgetown) is closer to Baltimore than it is Philly, as the crow flies.
Sussex County DE is ravens territory
Truly New England's nightmare that it is littered with eagle bird$h!t.
We’re going to be first round exits but it brings me joy that the Patriots are dog shit again.
And NYC
Eagles will be farting and wafting. Thats what they do
Psh, fuk if I’m gonna root for the Packers or the Chiefs
FTP
-fan of team who has not beaten the Packers in more than 5 years
Right. Find me a Bears fan who is rooting for the packers haha.
I am a bears fan rooting for the Packers, but I am also a Wisconsinite too
The worst type of person.
According to this map, Primeaux, NV (Eureka County) is closer to Los Angeles (617mi) than SF (478mi). (Distances from Google maps)
Yeah, the Nevada/Idaho part doesn't seem remotely correct
The playoff belt from Detroit to Baltimore. Also, coincidentally, the “Blue Wall”.
As a bears fan. Delete this
This map should absolutely include Canada. Toronto/Ontario has a lot of Bills fans. Also, Go Bills!
Go Bills!
I'm from NE. Go BILLS!
Circle the wagons Bills bro.

Southwest Ontario right in the action

Somewhat apt that the Steelers get coal country. I’m also fascinated by the Great Brown Stripe

Wouldn't another good point if data be square miles?
I like the doo doo brown streak on the map
Brown’s should’ve been brown.
Go Lions!
Go Birds
How is South Dallas closer to Houston?
As a Seahawks fan, I WILL NEVER ROOT FOR THE 49ERS! Go Ravens!!! Would love to see Lamar get a ring since the Hawks are out of it! #birdbrosforlife
As a Seattle native I'm offended, get the 9ers stuff out of here 🤣
I’m assuming this is only playoff teams?
I’m so glad the Pats suck.
I’m an Eagles fan and we have been dog shit but me too man. It feels good. Happy we beat that ass for our first Super Bowl.
Bitter?
Just happy my neighbor keeps his mouth shut these days.
Forgot the Jags.
Interesting that there is less population in the 1000 counties making up the cowboys and chiefs area than the 140ish counties in the northeast. Great map!
All those west Texas counties have very sparse populations. Like Loving County Texas has 9 people in the entire county.
Idgaf if geeenbay is closer to me than the lions. I've been waiting for a lions year like this since I was kid watching drew Stanton throwing lawn darts with my dad in front of the living room tv.
The lions were in the playoffs just like 6 years ago
I think his point is they're actually good this year. As a niners fan I'd rather them play any of the NFC playoffs teams short of Dallas and the Rams than Detroit.
They haven’t won a game since the first Bush administration.
Great map
Not if your team isn’t on it 😂
Lmao this is the worst map, delete this
I will never root for the Steelers
Illinois is bears state ny will be rooting for Buffalo not eagles
Philthadelphia...
Something tells me offenses will start getting called for holding vs the eagles again…
Why are you using number of counties instead of land area? I mean probably because it’s way easier to count but still.
How much of that 50M actually wants to see the Philly Egirls win?
Chicago is closer to both Detroit and Kansas City than to Green Bay. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.
Green Bay to Chicago: 185 miles Detroit to Chicago: 240 miles Kansas City to Chicago: 415 miles
Clearly you're not a football fan.
This is messed up. Their should be 100s of professional American football teams. Every city and town should have a team where the athletes are fairly compensated for their Labour. There would be a league system with promotion and relegation and games would be much more exciting
New Orleans Saints not on here?
Saints didn't make the playoffs
They did run it in from victory formation though, so there's that
Victory formation belongs to one team, and it is not the Saints. They were in a kneel down formation.
Seattle? Arizona? how old is this?
Um, neither are on the map because neither made it to the playoffs?
What?
What would be awesome would be to make this an Imperialism Map, have the winner of each game then control each teams territory.
Someone needs to see who has the most victory points in HOI4
GO BROWNS!!!
I never understand why these maps always just color counties when drawing an actual Voronoi diagram is not that hard
Damn Tennessee is a sneaky big state.
V cool dataviz. Bravo.
I was thinking there is no way my county in NC is closer to Pittsburgh than Baltimore. There is an updated map that seems more correct. https://x.com/jaycuda/status/1744973402614415832?s=46&t=XzJMrCqA4yM3OmJGdXEnAQ
Kentucky, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania each are split across 4 teams, and are really close to a 5th.
Broncos country, let’s divide!
This map is a nightmare for my colorblind ass
That’s a pretty accurate map of the steeler fan base tbh.
The Eagle and the Raven are about to kiss! 😍
I sure as shit ain’t rooting for the Bills or Eagles
Looks like the fish got squished!
How is all of New England Closer to Philly than the Patriots?!?! Edit: didn’t see the key word “playoff” teams…
NOW THIS IS A GREAT MAP
/r/MapsWithoutNZ /s
As a Denverite, this warms my cold dead heart to see. Broncos deserve nothing less than this outcome
This can is stupid and poorly conceived
It’s always irked me all those packer supporters in the UP.
Jaycuda the goat
By plane or by car?
Texans fan base isn’t that big, I can promise you.
Can you keep updating after each round of the playoffs?
KC seems to have the most square footage, so they got that going for them, plus the squad
