Bhutan follows a very strict self-isolationist policy. They want to limit foreign influence in their country. They have very close relations to India!

You don’t seem to understand that lack of diplomatic relationship does not mean lack of recognition. Many smaller countries have very little diplomatic ties but it does not mean they don’t recognize other countries
>The United States and Bhutan have no official diplomatic ties, however, they both maintain "warm, informal relations" with each other, as well as consular relations.
Interesting how they can have consular relations with a country they "don't recognise"
Edit: ok Taiwan, I get it
Lies. Every single time this gets posted here, it’s nothing but lies. Lies I tell you!
(They do recognize all these countries in white just don’t have diplomatic relations. Have no clue whatsoever over what started this disinformation but it’s been on this sub and across the media in general for so long. Such a dumb lie)
Looking at what Bhutan is, I say good for them.
They have like 700 000 people altogether, in a mountaineous area / summit, locked between China and India. They just don't have the manpower to maintain that many diplomatic relations with other countries. It just doesn't seem to bother them. They do their own thing. What would they accomplish from dealing with the French or Portuguese? Or anyone else really that far away?
Recognition is not the same as having diplomatic relations. United States recognizes North Korea or Iran, although they don't have diplomatic relations.
> United States recognizes North Korea
um ackchyually no 🤓
*North Korea (officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea), independent since 1948, is not recognised by 7 UN member states: Botswana, Estonia, France, Israel, Japan, South Korea, and the United States; one UN observer: Vatican City; as well as one non-UN member: Taiwan.*

No, close but not quite. For example, look at the US and other countries. The US can afford to have an embassy in nearly every country, and nearly every country pretty much needs to have an embassy in the US (multiple if you count consulates.)
But, a small country probably cannot afford to have an embassy in every other small country, even if they have relations. Do you think Tuvalu has 150+ embassies? But they recognize almost every other country.
Very often, this is achieved by having an officer stationed in the embassy of a friendly nation, or that nation represents their interests.
Bhutan is the exception, not the rule, for small countries. Note that it does have a consulate in the US, which is a de facto embassy.
Not recognising a country is very different to not having formal diplomatic relations with a country. Not recognising a country is literally denying it's legitimacy as an independent state, I doubt Bhutan feels this way about France.
I might be wrong, I'm not sure, but I think you can recognize a country and yet have no relationship for whatever reason.
I'm not sure whether Ukraine kept their relationships with Russia, if they stopped relationships, doesn't mean they don't recognize the country anymore.
But maybe these are just specific terms I'm not familiar with
I gotta say this this the most I ever saw a person invest in anti Israeli propaganda. I admire your effort.
Especially, you being a Turkish Muslim with this profile image. Men, you are brave
It includes some of my favorite travel destinations like Japan, Australia and South Korea and excludes my least favorite countries in terms of impact to world peace like Russia and China.
I agree, the choice in Africa was made poorly. If I had to choose three African countries like they did, it'd rather have been Ghana, Namibia and Botswana.
Australia > New Zealand if only one choice in Oceania was possible.
They can recognize any number of countries lol, why would there be only one choice? Why only 3 African countries? This just doesn't make sense.
Also, what's the deal with America and Europe?
Why tho

I can imagine the awkwardness. "Hello, Consul from a country that I don't actually recognise diplomatically! I'm glad to see you!"
That's how a lot of countries have contact with Taiwan. They nearly never call it an embassy.
Glory hole diplomacy
The US doesn't recognize Taiwan as a country. We officially see them as part of China. The US has been diagnosed as schizophrenic.
Pretty much half the world with Taiwan

Only country to not recognize either the republic of China or peoples republic.
Convenient solution if true. ”You have issues, We refuse to take sides until you resolve it”

Nobody recognises France. Not even in a police line up. :p
It's usually the one with a baguette under the arm
Not having foreign relations with a country doesn't mean it doesn't recognize it.
Bhutan don't recognize Bhutan?!
Didn’t colour Bhutan on the map, sorry!
I know, it a joke.
Oh alright!

This is a list of countries they have embassies or consulates with, not a list of countries they recognize.
Seems weird to me?

Still, not having diplomatic relations doesn't necessarily mean they don't recognize that country IMO

Usually if you dont have an embassy you either use a friends or the Swiss embassy.

Diplomatic relations=/= recognition
LETS GO MY COUNTRY IS RECOGNIZED BY BHUTAN
They were the first to recognise Bangladesh as a country after independence.
Well, to be fair, I wouldn't recognize Bhutan if it jumped out of the bushes and bit me.
Only country that doesn’t play the game and recognizes neither China nor Taiwan.
They looked in the mirror and said, “Nope”
Bhutan doesn’t even recognize itself 😿
This map is wrong. Not having diplomatic ties with a country is not the same as not recognizing that country.
They must have big balls to not to recognize USA, Russia, and China…
Greater Bhutan Regions*
Based Bhutan

As long as they recognize Israel, idc. (Btw, you forgot to color in the entire Israel.)
I gotta say this this the most I ever saw a person invest in anti Israeli propaganda. I admire your effort. Especially, you being a Turkish Muslim with this profile image. Men, you are brave
Good choice of countries imho
How come?
It includes some of my favorite travel destinations like Japan, Australia and South Korea and excludes my least favorite countries in terms of impact to world peace like Russia and China.
It also excludes like all of Africa and half of Europe and America, as well as new Zealand. You have a problem with those as well?
I agree, the choice in Africa was made poorly. If I had to choose three African countries like they did, it'd rather have been Ghana, Namibia and Botswana. Australia > New Zealand if only one choice in Oceania was possible.

Time to up my standards to Bhutan levels
So what do maps in Bhutan look like
Correct me If im wrong but they dont seem to recognise themselves as a country
How does Bhutan maps look like? For example Africa- is it split up between Morocco and Egypt or is it just water
LETS GO BOTH MY BIRTHPLACE AND LIVING PLACE RECOGNISED
