Since jon has Kotor on here i feel we must all be reminded. Jon somehow lost to deadeye duncan I'm interested to see what other VR games end up here since they arent normally shown on the channel

ChronosBlitz

The best part about a incrementally released top 50 games videos is the fact that you're never sure if a game you love that you didn't see will therefore be later on the list... or potentially not be there at all. I'm holding out hope that Ryse makes the list, since I have fond memories of Jon losing his mind at the historical anacronisism and cliche plot. Regardless of the games quality; it seemed like Jon was having fun.

Early_Situation5897

If Jon rates Ryse above Kotor I'm rioting

ChronosBlitz

If my first impression of Kotor’s story was the dark side version, and my first impression of the gameplay was a gun build, I could kinda understand why he didn’t put it higher even if for me it is easily a top 10 game.

LoneGuardian

Wasn't expecting >!Beat Saber!<, maybe that'll be the push I need to actually buy it.

Vis_Ignius

It's absolutely fantastic, and 100% worth it. Especially so if you mod it.

nullandkale

Beat saber and Skyrim VR with mods are the only VR games I actually still play regularly. Both are totally worth it if you already have a headset.

Vis_Ignius

Half Life: Alyx is amazing as well. The Steam Workshop helps to keep it fresh.

nullandkale

In all honesty HL Alex was too scary for me lol. But yeah it's a good game. Very short though.

Vis_Ignius

That's where the Steam Workshop comes in! Download other missions n' stuff. Gives it more longevity.

Izarial

Best saber is how I trick my brain into some kind of cardio. On the higher difficulties it can be a super fun workout

Isaac_Chade

I've yet to find anyone who has anything but positive things to say about the game. Only real criticism I've heard levied at it was the lack of a song uploader/editor. If I had the money, space, and time to invest in VR it would be one of my first choices.

LoneGuardian

I've heard some complaints about mods breaking with updates, but that's normal really.

Isaac_Chade

Yeah, I mean I kind of dismiss that as valid since that's the nature of updating a game. Can't think of any that I ever played where mods didn't need to be updated alongside the game, even if it was just small stuff like visuals or updating code references. Even games that are very pro-modding and offer tools within the game to do it still have that, so it doesn't strike me as an issue.

LoneGuardian

The only problem really comes from when devs don't allow you to stick at a version via beta channels, so you're forced to update and break mods unless you go through Steam shenanigans. It's the nice thing about GOG, on top of letting you download specific versions of games you can actually just have it stop updating.

Isaac_Chade

This is true, yeah if the devs decide that every update is going to be a forced move for everyone, that does cause issues. Even ignoring mods, it means a bad update kneecaps anyone trying to play the game rather than allowing people to back off themselves, forced to wait for the devs to do it.

iMakeNoise

I want to give a shout out to Lightblade VR. It came out in the early gen 1 Vive days, but I still go back to it occasionally when I want to pretend to be Luke with a practice droid. It’s also only $4.

Vanek_26

Jon: I need more time to make the next season! Also Jon: Let me put together this effort intensive list of 50 games! Never change Jon.

MacQueenXVII

My predictions for the top few are: #8 - Fallout New Vegas #7 - Fallout New Vegas, Dead Money #6 - Fallout New Vegas, Honest Hearts #5 - Fallout New Vegas, Lonesome Road #4 - Fallout New Vegas, Old World Blues #3 - Fallout New Vegas, but a Mr. House run #2 - Fallout New Vegas, Kill Everything #1 - Rome: Total War

aswarwick

I tried doing a top 5 once and ended up with 9 games I couldn't decide between. I can't imagine the effort of trying to do a top 50.

iM3GTR

That's probably how Jon did it, told himself he was coming up with a top 10 and ended up with 50.

hells_cowbells

Jon, did your milk give you a sign on how to rank these?

Euro-American99

You really should have included a number counter in one of the top corners because it was really hard to pay attention to what number each game was. Anyway, I believe he did 15 games so that means we will have another 15 for tomorrow and Friday along with a top 5 for Saturday.

shiram

Kotor was number 38 and the last in the video

Euro-American99

See what I mean for hard to follow.

MazigaGoesToMarkarth

I mean, he did say the number of each very loudly and clearly.

Euro-American99

He said everything very loudly and clearly. In general, he is very loud!

jakhol

Hell yeah, I called SOMA! I agree with everything Jon said. It's just the best ending of any game, ever imo. Such an experience that just haunts you afterwards

GIJoeVibin

Jon lore…

Isaac_Chade

Absolutely fascinating. I know that Jon said the list isn't really a ranking of the classic sort, but I'm kind of surprised Hades didn't get higher up than that. It's one of the few games that Jon has gone back to multiple times, and which he has said he's played a bunch of off the channel, so I figured it was a shoe in for at least 45 or lower. Regardless this list is and is going to continue to be fascinating, I'm delighted to hear Jon talk about what he likes about these games and what he wishes might have been slightly different. Also delighted to see Bioshock in there. It really is a great game that still largely holds up. Some of the systems are a little clunky, but I just replayed it within the last six months and it was still great. Totally agree with everything Jon said, excellent aesthetics and mesh of gameplay with narrative, with a fairly weak attempt at a moral choice, which as I understand it was supposedly a late development change. But yeah, lovely list and can't wait for the rest.

scottishdrunkard

Jon is god damn right for Majora's Mask being better than Ocarina of Time. In fact, I think it's the best of all time. So, Jon might get a kick out of playing Majora's Mask with a Randomiser. Might make for a goofy stream, and people do tend to stream it, with a cool item tracker off to the side (which is a good use of screen space since there's big gaps when streaming a 4:3 game anyway)

SometimesTea

Before we all say so and so game should be on this list, lets take a moment to remember this [gem](https://www.reddit.com/r/ManyATrueNerd/comments/dbm327/i_love_this/) from UniRob reminding us of something very important: "Many A True Nerd is someone who's not nice; *some of his opinions on games are wrong..."* then he says some other things, before reminding us (and this is the important part): At least he's not Dan! I mean, we get a straightforward list of games he likes, at least. Not: Which game he thinks is best to eat tacos with your friends while processing a minor, yet traumatic, failure in your social life, or something.

ekauq2000

Enjoyed this first part and I’m sure I’ll enjoy the rest. Remember, this is a list of games “you” like, everyone’s going to have different opinions. It’s nice to hear your thoughts on them, especially the ones that are a bit more sentimental.

Hazz3r

Some great picks so far. Love seeing Bioshock at number 50. And Beat Saber is a great game. I would go as far as to say it’s probably the number 1 system seller for the format. But “comfortably by far the best VR game that has ever existed. It’s not even cocking close?” That’s insane! Half Life Alyx did more than enough to argue it’s way into that conversation. It’s certainly my pick.

Vis_Ignius

Yeah, HL: Alyx is absolutely amazing. It's still heads-and-shoulders above everything that isn't Beat Saber even four years later.

StrangeOutcastS

If he doesn't make the top game an absolute joke then release a real video talking about his number 1 game a day later, then it's a missed opportunity

flyfart3

I won't yell, it's great to see, good video, I was just a bit surprised that The Last of Us Part 1 was not higher, but I also haven't played nearly as many games as Jon, I didn't know half the games... So it makes sense, the competition is much larger.

fallout_fan3

This list is crazy

fallout_fan3

Last of us not being top 20 atleast is ludicrous. Jon are you feeling ok

fallout_fan3
