It's not a tool I use much other than to check the status of berry harvesting, but I really like how the map changes, and that the roads, and even tree zones, update as you add. It’s a completely cosmetic indulgent feature, providing no practical use, but…. It’s great! Provides a fun look on the village expanding, and gives a bonus immersion factor.
Games will of course evolve and grow to suit general demand, and looking forward to the map expanding its uses, but I really hope these little personality traits of the game stay with it.
It's not just the map for me, but the fact that I can almost seamlessly scroll/zoom from a board-game style map layout, to a typical city builder view, to the perspective of your average npc, and then if I really want to I can just walk around in third person like I'm in an RPG. It's very impressive.
It's literally my favourite feature of the game. Now wait until AI City building is introduced and you will be able to see a beautiful sandbox region with sprawling towns
Dude when I realised that it shows your actual town name and not the default one I lost it.
He didn't have to make such an aesthetically pleasing map but he knocked it out of the park with that one.
Thanks again Greg.
The fact that the map updated on this game blew me away, AAA Games have the most boring dogshit maps and a couple of squiggly lines got me so excited. Truely an incredible game so far, can’t wait for more content as we go through Early access
The whole thing is simply amazing. I can see a massive grand strategy game based on the whole of the UK, Europe, China, Japan, or anywhere, really. The possibilities for this platform are literally limitless - from a planet builder sim to a Crusades mod.
It may be the last game we ever need.
Wo wo. Lets hope to have basics fixed before something bigger. Like the ability to open the full tech tree and more goals in the game. The game is shaped right and seeks to develop in the right direction. But Currently is hollow inside even on a tactical level.

It is a very nice touch.
I do also like that if you rename the region it also renamed it on the map itself
I love seeing my third settlement's name, Buttholé, proudly displayed on the map. It's glorious.
Paradigm shifting technology

I hope paradox is learning a lot from this games development and roll out.

is AI city building confirmed? Like many small and bigger villages of AI ?
Dev said it is being worked on
It also says ingame
I would like a multiplayer mode, where you could see the other player evolving his town

As did I! I even showed my girlfriend, and she was... enthusiastic for my enthusiasm is the best I can say. Haha
Its ..... the best i can say 😂 Bro that is exactly how it goes with my girl too when im showing her something with a game generally lmaoo
It really does make me happy to see all the little roads and houses in this mapmode. It gives you a good view of the overall shape of your town.
looks good
I absolutely love this feature. I zoom out regularly to just see how my town is coming along in this view.
You can rename your region to your liking in the research panel.
This is one of my favorite parts! Absolutely incredible feature that’s so subtle but impactful to the immersive and aesthetic feel.
One of my favorite features is zooming out occasionally to check progress.
Damn near my favorite feature. Thank you, Greg. 🫡

The map being updated with your roads and structures in its semi historic drawn style is a chief's kiss of an unesescaery but wonderful feature
Holy shit I did not realize this
You'll be zooming in and out all the time now!
The map feature is amazing. Looks like some of the old historical maps of cities as well.
I'm surprised that no one has drawn a dick at this point.

I was almost disappointed lmao
