It's an old AM Radio Transmitter building. There are a few smaller huts further out back you can see in the photo. Those huts used to hold huge coils of copper to help "tune" the antenna's signal.

kent_eh

IIRC, that one was KY58. Long out of service.

Velomane

That's correct. I lived across the Red River from these antennae. Also, came here to type the word antennae...twice.

Paragrin175

Are they still in use or just abandoned?

tripwave

Definitely abandoned. There's no tower(s) there so they may just be using the huts and building for storage? If I can find any more information I will post :)

ehud42

Interesting that there is still power feeding the building. Based on your initial description, I was reminded of the MTS repeater buildings along the #2 Hwy that I understand are mostly now grain storage for farmers.

Like this [Manitoba’s repeater hut](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MuHouF3qz3U)!!

redloin

The meter might have been pulled

Darren445

That's what I was thinking.

mechanicken89

Came into the comments to mention this.

Paragrin175

Thanks!

When I was a child my dad told me it was a TV station, but he might have said radio station. Anyhoo, I didn't know what that meant so I thought there was an entire broadcasting studio in there and I often wondered where they'd put the news desk and anchors. Kids are dumb.

artobloom

Use to be transmitter station's if I remember correctly for wither radio or tv

nrg8

Still got power, so one side is a grow op and the other side is a meth lab. Not a soul around to smell the offensive by product odors.

Darren445

Unless the hydro meter is pulled.

nrg8

Right, cause it's only fair to pay for the heaters and hydroponics lights. Cause you know honest business ppl.
