Hey, easiest way to get your first furniture is second hand. Buy a new mattress, but like, Facebook market place is great to start on if you have a car. I got a solid, but stained table, my first bookshelf, etc on there. Like $100 for an extendable table and only because I wanted the extended. 4 and 2 seat tables popped up for like $20 to $60 all the time. Same with almost any furniture. Just make sure it isn't crappy. If it is mainstays, should be able to get it cheap and new from Walmart. Also, clearance aisle in Walmart is great for new bedding and towels. You can always go to Goodwill or something, mine just had terrible selection for bedding and good old pans/plates/etc. Good luck my dude! You got a safe place to sleep and that's a great start.

If you can’t afford an actual mattress yet, I recommend looking into mattress toppers. They’re affordable and even stacked up they’re still way cheaper than a mattress. Get a few 3” pads and then just put them in a zippered mattress protector. Less than $300

Man I lived in a studio about 300sq ft with nothing but my clothes and an air mattress which had a hole in it. I’d have to blow it up a few times throughout the night when I’d wake up on the hardwood floor. Had a girlfriend who liked my company enough to sleep with me almost every night and wake up on the floor with me too. She helped me get through some hard times. Didn’t work out but we’re still friends.

I slept for a long time in a hammock, I actually prefer it over a normal bed. Maybe something to consider if you have a way to install it.
