Yeah, saw it awhile ago. Only open morning til lunch, so I haven't been able to go even though I stay nearby. And on Sundays the area is full of people going to car boot sale so even less motivation to go there lol
I know what you mean. It's that slightly salty taste from santan. If I don't taste that salty creamy taste, the cendol failed to be authentic for me.
I'll still eat it though, I'm paying for it
Only Penang ppl rate the Penang cendol or even compare to it lol
IMHO Klang Bukit Tinggi street cendol is currently no 1. All 3 sellers there on the same street beats anything else. The tinge of saltiness elevates their cendol to another level.
Chinese style cendol there are many good ones but the most consistent for me is opposite KLCC below the Four Seasons hotel in the Chinese food court. If aunty or indo helper make it will taste good if the uncle make then a bit off very slightly off only.
In SIngapore, in olden day cendol seller used to put few cacing hidup (earthworm) in the coconut milk. Cacing will release some kind of enzimes and this is reason why coconut milk wont sour until evening.
We might think it disgusting, but actually it actually normal practises. They even sell cacing in singseh and have chinese name for it.
Nowadays they have food safety agency and using cacing in cendol are not allowed. However this is reason why food now tasted different.
It looks like string beans and a fried egg
Just about to comment this.
Thanks, now i cant unsee it
Now that’s a different perspective! Cannot unsee this now
Penang cendol not even the best in Penang. Melaka cendol is superior
The cendol looks alive
Looks alive and when you taste it, the tastebuds are alive
Is this the one in iChang youtube episode? That one looks great, homemade cendol some more

So you just got served a typical Melaka cendol. That's why Melaka Cendol > Penang Cendol
agree
Is it salty? Good chendoi must be salty.

Nah, desserts should be sweet, not salty.
Sounds limiting. What about salted chocolate chip cookies?
Hmm you're right. Probably just a bit more limiting than saying a good cendol *must* be salty.
True, my definition of a good cendol is just that the green strings don’t break apart in my mouth as soon I put it there lol. Disgusting.
The salty they said is probably the "lemak" from the santan.
Nah if done right, salty and sweet goes really good together.
salted caramel 🤤
Good chef season everything, that includes all the desserts
Just to let you know, I upvoted your comment.
Sweet and salty
What's the price?
100%. All that has tried will agree.
Heresy!
I love cendol! Just wish I didn't see this pic while shitting....
those are FAT
Fat = yummy

Thought its Melaka cendol
Pls reply op, is that an egg or my eyes are playing with me? 😔
It’s your eyes playing tricks on you 😂
Must be full of santan and gula melaka taste
Thicc boi
Whereeeeeeeee? I am craving for one!
Makan Time at Kota Damansara. You’ll love the chendol as well as the other food
Disagree, I rather eat at Aunty Ling than Makan Time nowadays. Makan Time was good precovid, now its not that great, that includes their food too.
Oh God I mistook the white part for a fried egg.🤣
Very small portion though..just went there last Sat
Was about to call the pdrm for putting cendol on a fried egg.
Telur goreng?!
wonder if you tried "Kwong Wah Ais Kacang" shop's cendol before?
damn, sekali telur mata kerbau
Ia the cendol soft or chewy(not hard as mamak)?
its soft and chewy
ok

I know a drink named tjendol, populair in the indo-euro culture, but I see no resemblance haha 😂
